Hey,

I know you guys are probably tired of "would my app be late if..." threads but I'm sort of in a pickle.

So, I have my MCAT scheduled for the 27th of May but I won't be prepared for it by then and I want to push back to June 17th, however, there are no more spots left in my area for that date. I've been hounding the MCAT site for a few days now but nothing has come up. If I can't get the June 17th date then I'll just have to settle for July 8th, which is much later than I want.

My question is: If I'm complete after my scores come out on August 10th for the July date, then will that be early or late or too late. I've heard a lot of posters give advice that one should try to be complete by August to be considered early. I filled out the whole App previously so I just had to refill it when it opened today. So say that I'm verified by the end of June and do all the secondaries for schools that don't screen and look up the secondaries for schools that do screen and do those ahead of time before I receive them so that when/if I do receive them I can send them in the same day when I get my score in the beginning of august, will I still be considered somewhat early? So once my scores come in and I'm complete, would that be early or late or in the middle maybe?

Also, do interviews go out based on who is complete first or the app they receive first. So, say that someone turns in their verified app and score in mid july but turns in the secondary in mid august, would they be considered higher on the pile for rolling schools versus someone who turns in their verified app, secondary, score around mid august?

Any advice would be appreciated.

I am in exactly the same boat...... I just bumped my MCAT to july 17 (the only date available in my area)....

Yea, I'm hoping I can get some replies soon so that the July 8th date doesn't run out on me too.

I'm currently signed up for the 16th of July but I think we will both be fine as long as you only intend on taking it ONCE and doing WELL. If so, everything will fall into place. Just make sure to have your primaries AND secondaries in before the end of August.

Yea, that's why I'm rescheduling. I don't have the time to take this thing more than once so I figured I'd get it right and do it the first time around.

Anyone else?

Early to mid-August is still fine. Not early compared to some people, but I think the SDN norm get it in much earlier than the average person.

That would be interesting data. I wonder what % of med school applicants view SDN, what % post, and then what the stats of those applicants look like relative to the general pool. I suppose you could use MDApp numbers as a data set, even though it's not perfect, but the average person motivated enough to list them there is probably similar to someone who posts here, I'd guess.

So is that the general consensus? Being complete in early august will still be somewhat early?

Thanks.

Would you take an entire year off if the general consensus was otherwise? Cos if not I'm not really sure that it matters!

You're fine.

I was completing my applications at my schools in the fall and I don't think it had any effect on interviews/acceptances.

That said, I wouldn't advise a friend to apply as late as I did.
