I had to use my chemistry set for heat fuel, so tell me..

in a cyclohexane, when 2 substituents are right next to eachother (eg on positions 1 and 2) and they are cis, when they go to a chair conformation, are they both equatorial or is one axial and one equatorial?

Professor, professor... disappointing...

Here I am, working on my secret g.chem. guaranteed to make you score a 30 if you get all of it, and you're watching mickey roll down a hill in a trailer.

For shame.

one is axial the other equatorial....but they will both face either up or down...not one down and the other up..hope that helps
