So I've heard different opinions about this topic from friends, and I want to hear what others think or have experienced.

Is everyone who's invited for an interview treated equally, so that the interview is the deciding factor?

OR

Is the interview just another criteria they will use along with DAT, GPA, etc. for selecting students?

Another factor to add in with GPA, DAT....

I believe that for many schools, they look at your DAT and GPA and then decide who to invite for the interview. I think not for all, but for the vast majority, that when you get to the interview, you have passed the other criteria. Some schools invite a TON of applicants so this likely doesn't apply at those schools especially with a low number of seats on top of it.

That said, from the interview invite on, I think your one on one performance is a huge part of the deciding factor. If all else is near equal, your interviewing ability can definitely send you over into the acceptee or rejectee piles 😉

Based on what I have learned and heard over the past 3-4 years, a good majority of schools will look at your GPA, DAT scores, and personal statement as sort of a first cut in deciding who to invite for interviews. I am pretty sure every school is slightly different in the amount of weight they put on each factor. Once you get the interview, dependent upon the school and the number of seats in it's first year class, you can have anywhere from a 30-50% chance of getting in (up from 0% pre-interview phase), once again this may vary from school to school. For instance, a school who has 130 seats in it's first year class might invite ~350 students for interviews. That percentage may also be higher on a case by case basis considering how high your stats are relative to other applicants in that pool. These days however, it is pretty hard to predict when you take into account the numerous factors such when people submit their apps/secondaries, etc... because I think most schools accept applicants on a rolling basis starting dec. 1st... so you never know who you are being compared to.

if you're good on paper, you're invited (approx 5-10% applicants).
if you're a decent/genuine person in the interview, you're accepted (approx 25-50% interviewees).
everyone who interviews was given the key to unlock the door, but now you have to charm the bouncer to let you through said door. they basically want to make sure you're academically strong, but not a total jerk as a person.

does anyone have stats on the ratio of people that get accepted after they are invited for an interview.... I have heard for Nova that if you get an interview there is a good chance but I was just wondering if anyone knew the exact numbers

look at the adea book. it has # interviewed and # accepted. you can calculate the ratio from there.

While some schools make the decision after an interview, other schools work off of a point system where points are given for DAT scores, gpa, EC's, personal statement, Letters, and the interview. Even if they love you at the interview, you may still be lagging in total points to push you over the fence.

Assuming this is true from your experience at MWU?
