The best way to way I have found to preview schools, costs, enetering GPA's, required courses, dental school curriculum, etc. is to get a book that gives statistics of all the dental schools and compare them. The most complete and informative book I have found is the one sold on the ADEA website.

www.adea.org

Once you get to the website click on the link "Official Guide to Dental Schools" and it will give you ordering options, it's around $35. If you don't want to pay the money for the book you can also usually find books at Barnes and Noble, Walden Books, etc. that have similar information that you could just page through and not buy. They are usually titled something like "Guide to Medical and Dental Schools". These books don't usually have the in depth information that the book from the ADEA has, the ones I found anyway.

With both types of books they usually provide contact information for the admissions departments so you can call them if you have any specific questions about their app. cycle, or requirements.

Ultimately I think you'll need to rank the schools as to what you think is important, wether that be cost, location, curriculum, or whatever. Some schools focus their curriculum on research type instruction while others lean more towards patient interaction as one example.

I've been looking at these types of books for about the past 6 months and still have a hard time narrowing it down to less than about 15. I guess I'll need to pretty quick since I'm submitting my application in less than a month 😱

I hope this helps.

Welcome to the SDN.
I know you are a new member in the forum but This is a DAT related question forum only and your question is about cost of the school. Also you posted the same question in the two forums?????

Thanks eric!
Fair brother, sorry abt that- am just curious to know whether anyone will guide me to get the right info. anyway thanks again!

Personally, I think they're all expensive!!!

Even though UOP is expensive with tuition and equipment approx $205K ($260 with cost of living), it is the only 3 year program. That being said, depending on your goals, if you practice one year earlier, it makes this program a lot cheaper in the big scheme of things.

Over 4 years for a CA resident, UCSF will cost approx $205K with cost of living. If you include cost of living, UCSF and UCLA aren't that cheap.

It's funny how you called USC "USCLA". The folks at USC will love you for it.
