That's a good question. I'm not sure- I would be happy to manage a thread that has the dates of the interviews. I made a spreadsheet for the schools I'm applying to- along w/ when they typically send out invites. I know other people have done that as well.

I think typically what's done is when someone gets an interview invite that date is posted next to the school once they come rolling in. Combining them could be advantageous so people don't have to switch back and forth and it's all in one place.

I received a couple of emails from schools that said the date that their admissions committee is meeting. Can I assume I will hear back shortly after that if they plan to invite me for an interview?

I can't believe some of you already have heard back! I'll be checking my email obsessively for the next two months now!!

It all depends on the school. I would assume that they would let you know shortly after the committee meets (and have heard that programs move quite fast once they identify students to invite/accept), but it also might take a while as the committee might then hand off potential applicants to professors who then invite them out for interviews. One thing I've learned about this process is that it is mostly irrational and varies pretty widely from program to program.

They offered to refund the application fee, OR they said I could revise my statements and resubmit them for admission to work in another POI's lab. Luckily there was a last minute change, and another professor that I have a pretty solid fit with is now accepting students, so maybe this is a blessing in disguise? I guess I'll find out in the next few weeks.

The more I think about it, I wonder if something like a shared google sheet or something similar would suffice. At least half of the places to which I've applied have explicitly stated their planned interview dates, so I think a shared sheet combining something like those dates and actual interview invites would be super helpful.

That sucks. I edited this out from my original post, but the last time I applied I had an offer rescinded the last week of March (to one of my top choices) just because the prof said he'd decided to sacrifice his new student for the sake of funding (he was close to retirement and decided to give the departmental funding to newer profs). I've seen him at several conferences in the interim and he always goes out of his way to avoid acknowledging me...nice. I'm glad they were proactive about it and are being accommodating to you; hopefully it works out. One would imagine it might be an indicator of your chances, but I don't know how much that could add to your stress levels. Hopefully it is a blessing in disguise.

I don't think that developmental programs have been included in this thread in prior years because, in my limited knowledge, the programs don't typically have interviews as part of their admissions process. If this is way off and there is enough interest in keeping track of developmental, social, cognitive, etc. programs, I can certainly add them to the list.

I can relate way too much to this last statement.... But OP, it's pretty awesome they offered to let you resubmit your materials to better fit with a new POI. Fingers crossed for you!

I'm nervous, and trying not to count on hearing anything until mid-late January so I don't torture myself. Ugh.

Thank you! And good luck to you! Also, you never know with offers on TGC. I was so disheartened when I saw that UCSB's offer went up, and then I received mine. I think some POIs do things at their own pace. We all got this!

Now you're giving me a heart attack! I knew UCLA was a long shot, but I didn't expect the rejection, or non-interview, so early, haha. Luckily all of the offers made were social psychology so any folks waiting to hear back from clinical will probably hear in January like the previous years. Must. stay. off. TGC.

I was just wondering... Is it rude to ask those who have gotten interviews for a particular school who their POI was? I really don't know the etiquette! Ha. I'm just curious.

I applied to UCSB but haven't heard anything yet... Just trolling to see who's been emailing their prospective students.

I would LOVE that Gambit. Anything to help soothe my fears. I'm not freaking out too badly, as I knew UCSB was kind of a long shot with my GRE scores, but it'd be nice to know either way!

I didn't realize they had a counseling program and I absolutely LOVE some of the researchers in their clinical program so I was very sad for a few minutes.

Just a UCSB Counseling Ph.D. update. I received notification today, 12/16 that I was invited to the on campus interview for Friday, January 23rd, at 8:30 am. No funding for travel, but possibility to stay with a grad student. No social events, as far as I can see.
