**Official Interview/Acceptance/Rejection Thread 2014-2015**

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I applied to 10 schools, and I was a bit late applying. My DAT is good- 21 AA, 20 science, 23 PAT and one low one (17 bio)
I havent heard back from anywhere, although many of my similarly qualified friends (as well as some people I know are MUCH LESS qualified than me) have gotten interviews. How ****** am I? or am I stupid to be worrying?
depends when you applied and to what schools.

How wos the interview at LECOM? I didn't like the school and would not go there if that was the only one
Why don't you give LECOM a call and tell them this, so they don't waste a possible acceptance notification on you.

It's been like 4+ months for me and I have yet to get any rejections/interviews. Hard to keep telling myself no news is good news, but what can I do. How depressing would it be if I got 14 rejections December 1 :boom:

Keep up the positive attitude! Good things will happen! And you don't need to worry about Dec. 1st. very few to none of the schools actually send out rejections on that day.

What is your GPA?
right now, over 3.6, and science is like a 3.4 but both are going up, and i did poorly my freshman year but better since then (c in chem 101 but As in both organics, labs, A- in physics, A in biochem and Calc 2, etc)

Im an honors scholar with a good amount of extracurriculars, decent observation, what I believe to be strong letters and personal statement. I had a prehealth board interview, and it went really well. I followed up and everything. I applied at the very beginning of september, and all my stuff was in a few weeks later and recieved.

The
Why? I'm curious to hear details on your experience
school is not fully accreditated, no lectures, you study on your own to pass your boards, pbl facciliator is not an expert, so you can not even ask questions because he has no knowledge ( be it an anatomy etc), no specialists, no research.

Hey when did you interview for UNLV? Can we know your stats please.

My UNLV one is a post december one.
I interviewed at USC and University of Colorado last month.
DAT = 18 (one really low score)
GPA = 3.9

Did not realize LECOM was not fully accredited...

How is a school fully accredited? I would think you're accredited or not. Not half-way haha, I'm confused.

LECOM has initial accreditation I believe. The school will be fully accredited after they graduate their first class (they only have up to D3s now) and pass some kind of accreditation inspection to make sure faculty and students and plans for school are where they need to be. It's just a new school, so like every new school, it has to go through this somewhat lengthy process. So it's not horrible that they're not fully accredited because they'd pretty much have to mess up big time to not get their full accreditation.

The way I understand it, there are multiple levels of accreditation. Initial accreditation has to occur before the school can open with its first class. There is another level of accreditation that occurs when the first class graduates. Then I'm sure there are other levels and things that happen, but those are the only two that I know of.

Interview #3! I would love to hear from anyone who has interviewed at USC so far. It sounds like theirs is a little different than the Texas ones. = ) I was told on the phone that the dates they offered me were the last ones until they resume in January.

School: University of Southern California
Date: 11/8/14 (Saturday)
Method of notification: Email
Residency: TX
AADSAS mail-out date: 6/27/14
Application complete date: 7/7/14
GPA (science, overall): 3.41, 3.61
DAT (AA/TS/PAT/Reading/any section below a 17): 21 AA/ 21 TS/ 21 PAT/ 23 RC/ none

I think he/she means to say that LECOM has initial accreditation. They said that they are not eligible for full accreditation until the first class graduates. But if you go there and for some reason they don't get fully accredited after the review you still will graduate with an accredited degree.

UPDATED: Sorry didn't realize that others already answered this. :smack:

Pretty much LECOM bashing for no reason. At one time Harvard, NYU, Columbia, Penn, etc were not fully accredited either. Seeing as how the students I talked to love it there, great clinic setup, and the near 100% NBDE1 pass rate by the inaugural class, I'm sure they'll be fine.

LOL, Yea back in the early 1900s

Speaking about LECOM, choosing a school is as important as choosing a profession. This is just my opinion, guys, no offence. LECOM has nothing to offer for 81k tuition: no research, no patients, no specialist programs. Simply because it is a very new school. In 20 years i thing it would be a great place to attend. I want to get exposure to everything!!! They have dolls and suveniers in the halls :) i didn't see that in any other school. Speaking about board pass, how can u believe it is 98 pcnt, school is operating only 2 years, there are no lectures at all. Anyway, it depends what dentists you want to be. I am ready to be in dept but i want to get a lot from the school also. The only plus in my opinion is that all equipment and chairs are new.

Pbl may work great in addition to lectures, but stricktly pbl is not for me. I was impressed by Pitts, great traditional school, huge opportunities.

So did you end up calling LECOM and telling them you don't want their acceptance?

Doesn't matter how early or late you interviewed during pre-December. If they want you on the 1st, you'll know. If not, you just have to wait. Hope you hear some good news.
