Sorry guys, we're coming into finals and it's getting pretty hairy...
First off, let me clarify a couple of incorrect statements by other posters (since I'm the only one here who REALLY knows what's going on).
First, it IS true that we have lost 6 (not 7)people out of our class, however, they did NOT..REPEAT, did NOT "fail" out!!! Every one of them decided to start again next year due to PERSONAL FAMILY CONFLICTS (sick parents, spouses, siblings, and/or financial issues, etc) NOT because they "failed" out. NO ONE in our class has failed a class yet!!! I believe we are expecting at least 5 of them to return in the fall.
Second, our class is not full of Dr. Cheong's "diamonds in the rough". While it is true that Dr. Choeng was chair of admissions for our class, it's also just as true that our class had the HIGHEST incoming average MCAT's (30) & GPA's(3.83) of ANY class that UF has ever admitted. If anything, our class is full of independent, headstrong people that aren't easily conformed to the "conservative" nature of many of UF's faculty (but trust me, not all the faculty is that way!) and maybe that played a part in people taking time off...I don't know.
In any case, our curriculum is extrememly strong and we will be prepared for the boards. If anyone does poorly on them, they have no one to blame but themselves because UF is MORE than providing the education necessary to do well. If anything, I almost think they need to back off a little...they throw so much clinical learning at us that it's hard to keep up with the book work sometimes!
Foxy, as far as the waitlist is concerned...it's moving! I haven't been in since last week, but when I went in, there were at least 10 faces gone that had been there. Denise said she hadn't put up the "new" faces yet, so I don't know any more than that!
