Good luck to everyone who is applying! I was wondering how long your supplemental essay questions are going to be? Do you think Loma Linda appreciates elaborate or concise responses?

3rd batch, haven't received anything from Loma Linda. Anyone else on the same boat?

2nd batch, nothing from Loma Linda, but I was planning on mailing in a letter from a priest separately since I didn't want to include that letter within the 4 I was to send to all other schools... haven't gotten around to going to church and asking for the letter yet. ^^;;

I think everyone appreciates concise as long as they are meaningful and answer the prompt.

On the supplemental app there is a section to submit additional letters!

Has anyone received an email inviting them to fill out the supplementary or did you all just find it online?

am i the only one who was a bit shocked at the $150 supplemental fee?? was that published in the ADEA guide?
just curious...

Has anyone received an invite for interviews yet? They were rolling them out by the first week of August last year.

Quiet over here

Hey all, I just e-submitted Tuesday, waiting anxiously for everything to be verified and get a supplemental app from LLU... This is my top choice school so hoping for the best :xf::xf::xf:

Did anyone submit their secondary app? mine is taking forever to finish. seriously 5 essays, i feel like Im writing a book!!!!

4000 is the maximum...not the minimum. Mine came up about 1500 per question. I'm pretty sure they don't want to hear you ramble and be repetitive throughout the whole thing with 4000 characters each essay question. Try to make it concise and straight to the point..

Wow still no Loma Linda interviews yet?

Hi,
Do I have any chance to get into Loma Linda if I am not Christian? Should I apply? The application fee is expensive

Still no one has heard anything? I keep getting emails and getting all excited thinking it's something about my app, but they've all been emails with FAQ's about the school or info on their mission statement. Ugh! I'm so anxious!

Last Thursday I asked a question about supplemental a and the lady said they haven't started revue in yet.

Excellent. I submitted mine earlier today, on the day it was due. Those questions took a lot out of me! Hope we hear something soon though.

^I didnt. They only took like 6 people of the "unknown" faith last year. You should buy the adea guide and do research

I get so excited whenever I see an email from Loma Linda only to find out that it is not an interview invite.

Do you think it would be okay to say you consumed alcohol in the past at a younger age (21) but have not and will not in the future? Would they hold that against you for consuming it in the past?

Omg that was my huge struggle for the questions. Wasn't sure whether to be 100% honest or kinda withhold some details.

I was honest and admitted to drinking. They will not hold it against you!

So I'm like kinda confused about the religious requirements while attending LLU. I know about some of the religion courses related to dentistry, but are dental students required to attend all the weekly services?

I was extremely surprised by the supplemental fee o_O like, $150 is kinda ridiculous, and I'm not sure if it mentions the fee amount in the ADEA guide, but it definitely doesn't in the AADSAS portal when you select supplemental info for LLU.

Short answer D1 and some or most of D2 you have to attend chapel. So maybe between 1.5-2 years, honestly who cares if you're cool with 1.5 guess youd be cool with 2 years.

You should search, this comes up every year. Not doing your research on this school in particular is a bad idea. Since you as an adult will be treated differently at this school than any other dental school, its important that you do some research to make sure you will be a good fit (or can at least tolerate their policies).

Alcohol
The University holds that a lifestyle that is free of alcohol, tobacco, and recreational/illegal drugs is essential for achieving this goal. University policy is that all students are expected to refrain from the use of tobacco, alcohol, and other recreational or unlawful drugs during the period of their enrollment at the University....Students are notified of the University's abstinence policy during the application process and are responsible for complying with this policy while they are enrolled in the University. Failure to comply with this policy will result in discipline up to and including dismissal.
Pornography
Prohibited acts: No member of the University shall engage in pornographic acts. Prohibited activities include the sustained or intentional possession, viewing, downloading, exchange, transmission, storing, copying or reading of pornography in the workplace, place of learning, or University residence facilities. All verified violations of these policies shall be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal or termination of the relationship with the University.
Sexual Conduct
We believe that God's ideal for sexuality is achieved when sexual expression is limited to a man and woman who are husband and wife committed in lifelong marriage. All expressions of premarital and extramarital friendship are to be chaste, and behaviors which would suggest otherwise are to be avoided. All forms of sexual expression and conduct between heterosexuals outside of marriage, or between homosexuals, are contrary to the ideals of the University and will result in disciplinary action. Further, all forms of promiscuity, sexual abuse, and exploitation are contrary to the ideals of the University and will result in disciplinary action. Loma Linda University honors an ideal of sexual purity that transcends mere legal enforcements.
Chapel service
The following are required to attend the scheduled chapel experience each week:
D1 students, Hygiene students , D2 students, International Dentistry Program students
Meat & Caffeine
Although only vegetarian meals are served in all campus food centers, and vegetarian nutrition is stressed in the nutrition department curriculum, students are not required to abstain from either meat or caffeine.

I posted the link where I got that information from. Original source is from the student handbook. I have no interest in attending this school and was able to find it. As an applicant you should search around and learn more about the school. Will get you more prepared for the interview and you will understand how this school is. Being an SDA school its very....I guess ill say "unique", so its best that you do some HW to make sure its a good fit for you.

Just wondering when your interview is.. i.e. which month. Also, do you think they review the apps in the order they were completed? Thx.

They do not assign interview dates. You have to call in and tell them. I plan on going late October. I believe they review them in order they have all of your application materials. I was fairly late though. So maybe all pre September are out of order.

So do students actually want to attend a school with this kind of atmosphere, or is it just some backup school whose nonsense is tolerated by somewhat religious people?

Believe it or not, there are a lot of people out there who are fine not drinking or having sex outside of marriage.

Not to mention Loma Linda is a very big name in California and well respected

You are forgetting, that this is also a pretty expensive school. People should have good reasons to go there. Personally, if I was young, not married and did not belong to a strict religious group, I would not go there

A lot of students come from SDA undergraduate institutions where all of these policies are enforced already.
