Taking two gap years. Ohio resident. Retook MCAT and raised from 27 to 32.

Biological Sciences major/Psychology Minor
Deans List 8/10 terms
3.6 sGPA (trending up)
3.689 cGPA (trending up. Started with a 3.4 freshman year)
32 MCAT (11/10/11)

Relevant ECs:
  • Full time Anesthesia Specialist at level 1 trauma center
  • Undergraduate Researcher (Wrote senior honors thesis on MAOIs to graduate with honors ~600 hours)
  • Founder and president of medical fraternity
  • Vanderbilt Summer Clinical Research Internship
  • Tutor and supplemental instruction leader for over 2 years
  • Shadowed over 70 hours in various specialties
  • Emergency department volunteer over 75 hours

What are my chances? Am I a competitive applicant? Trying to build school list

If you beef up your clinical volunteering hours to the 150+ range, you'll have a very competitive application. Your numbers are good all-around, and the rest of your ECs are all strong.
 
As for your school list, focus primarily on mid-tier schools. Your numbers are very competitive for most of the medical schools in the country, but the top-tier schools are likely out of reach.
