Hi! The profile in question is as follows:

uGPA (pre-postbacc): 3.25
uGPA (overall): 3.35
sGPA (overall): 3.58
postbacc GPA: 3.67
MCAT: 309
Clinical hours in the US: 350
Clinical hours outside the US: 70
Non-clinical Volunteer work outside US: 100

Non-traditional student, graduated with engineering degree but went back to finish postbacc and applied for the 2023 cycle, also NY resident and ORM.

Applies widely but what are the chances to get accepted to the following MD programs:
Carle Illinois
Meharry
Morehouse
NYMC
SUNY (both)
TCU
Uni of Illinois
Tulane
Virginia Tech

Thanks!

What is your actual MCAT score (it is not possible to score as low as 309) ? Where is your state of residence ? Are you from a URM community ?

What exactly were you clinical activities and non-clinical ones in the US?

Meharry and Morehouse are HBCUs, so do not apply to those. University of Illinois has extremely high OOS tuition, and you are not very competitive for them. V Tech has a regional preference.

Clinical US: Volunteering in ER and interacting with patients (180) , EMT work during COVID (150), and shadowing an MD (rheumatologist) (20)
Non-clinical was a at a foodbank but outside the US (this was during covid after losing employment and needing to move back home outside US)

And I didnt realize about meharry and morehouse, so thanks for letting me know!

If you are interested in featuring your engineering degree, Texas A&M University School of Medicine has a special track called EnMed which takes 50 students a year. With this track you graduate with an MD plus an MS in Engineering. EnMed allows you to use AMCAS to apply, so you wouldn't have to fill out the TMDSAS application just to apply to this one Texas school. Also EnMed is based in Houston, not in the main College Station A&M campus.

Thank you! I didn't know about that!

You have sufficient clinical hours, but no non-clinical volunteering in the US will likely hold you back at most schools (Tulane and TCU are service-oriented schools). Are you applying as an international student? You could also apply to the following if you are a citizen or have a greencard:

Albany
Hackensack
Vermont

For DO:
PCOM
NYITCOM
Touro NY
DMU
Marian
KCU
KCOM
VCOM
LECOM
