Is it cheating to wear an adult diaper to MCAT?

I have been hitting pause on my practice exams to go pee quite often. Has anybody worn an adult diaper like a depends and just went pee right in your pants during the administration of the exam? Is it prohibited?

I think in the event that you do have to pee it could save you a point or two. I mean you either lose 3 minutes, or tryt o hold it in for like 5 or 10 minutes thinking you can hold it in for the rest of the section and then you have to go so bad that you go to the bathroom anyways and lose 3 minutes plus 10 minutes of diminished focus.

The last thread about wearing a diaper was in 2004 so I thought I would start a new one for a fresh perspective.

Can't you skip the adult diaper part and just piss your pants straight up... (i.e. avoid tipping off Prometric about your advantage when they pat down your bulky pants). Don't mind the looks you get! It will be worth it 30-35 days later.

SERIOUSLY though, I don't think wearing thick underwear is considered cheating. You should be fine...you know...if you think that will...help you........strategically.

I did have the leg bag thought also, if we are to take this seriously... would be much preferred over a diaper in terms of comfort I am sure.

This is a legit concern, srs. I am going to not drink much before the test to avoid this.

Oh trust me, I won't be having anything but a few sips of water morning of the test, because I have a bladder the size of a toddler's. But even so...

Adult diapers don't smell, they are designed for the elderly who cannot control their bladder so they are actually designed quite well to hide odor.

I would have to train in them beforehand so I'm not trying anything new for test day.

haha this is an awesome thread. also not sure if youre joking.. but i recommend really planning when you drink beforehand. I did it just like i did at practice exams, so i would stop drinking like half an hour before.

I think my body automatically starts too want to pee during really important exams even if I don't drink anything before hand.

Not sure if serious or not but I'm sure a lot of people have concerns about bathroom breaks.

Anyways
1) limit the caffeine to just the bare minimum you need to function or better yet none at all
2) drink Gatorade not water. Water will make you pee more often than Gatorade.
3) pee during every break even if you don't think you have to.

No, Prometric doesn't check your underwear.

The proctor sits right outside the door, and Prometric proctors exams for all sorts of professions, not all of which are as tolerant toward smells/noises as the medical profession. If you keep it low key, you should be fine.

That's actually an excellent point and I'm glad you made it. Through the increased focus and concentration by not having to worry about going to the bathroom you actually decrease the focus of others. One might even think going to Chipotle the night before the exam would be a smart choice.

This is a win-win in my mind.

Yes absolutely. You want to simulate real test conditions here, people. You think it's easy to get used to peeing outside of a bathroom in a room full of others, while thinking critically about core science topics?

You must practice this during your AAMC FLs if it is going to confer any benefit.:D

OP, did you study too much instead of going to drinking parties in undergrad? Or did you wear diapers to those parties as well? Most people learn that eating a bunch of food before beer/whisky/shots keeps the bathroom away. This advice may serve you well come MCAT time, even if you skip the liquor.

I worked in prometric for 3 years and in that time I witnessed 4 people urinate on there chair because they did not want to get up. It was mainly Step candidates, not MCAT though. It's actually pretty sad. Stop being an idiot and go urinate during your break OP.

The prometeric dudes made me lift up my pant legs over my ankles before they let me in.... I was wondering why, but now I'm sure it's to prevent ankle pissbags. I hope.

What happens if you had to do surgery on a patient for several hours (6+ hours) and need to use the washroom extremely badly - you being able to use the washroom might cost the patient his/her life. As a surgeon would you 'piss in your pants?'

you definitely want to wear this for your full lengths. are you going to be able to read or click while peeing? at first you will prob have to pause your stream every time you are thinking hard or clicking, so be sure to practice. ultra-marathoners say they have to practice peeing down their legs during mid run, so they don't have to do the pause stream-run shuffle.
