//Sorry all! That was a typo that I didn't catch. That was supposed to be 20.//

My question is pretty simple. What is your personal favorite hand lotion for frequently washed hands? I wash my hands upwards of *20* times a day, and no matter what lotion I've tried, it doesn't seem to be helping. I've tried Aveeno, Eucerin, Coconut Oil, O'Keefes, along with many others. Right now I'm using Corn Huskers Lotion. Thoughts? Thanks in advance!!

This is not a forum for medical advice.

(But seriously, stop washing your hands so much).

Your washing your hands about 3 times an hour. I dont think that's very excessive, maybe a little bit. But I bet some doctors have to wash their hands that much if they see 5-6 patients an hour. Also I have no advice on the lotion..

I start my day with cerave (becuase of the cermides) and then plaster on some Aquaphor after I wash my hands. Its really thick at first but it sinks in quick and really feels good.

Disclosure: I don't wash my hands 50 times a day but I have really dry/sensitive hands that get irritated washing with soap unless I add the aquaphor.

Why on earth are you washing your hands 50 times a day??

Yeah, 50 times a day is really excessive. Even when I worked in the OR and was scrubbing on 8-10 cases per day, having to scrub multiple times sometimes for cases plus all the normal handwashing between patients, eating, bathroom, etc., I doubt I ever went above 30.

Lush charity pot or lush helping hands. I keep using my mom's so she finally bought me my own.

I like working hands. It saved me this winter! I wash mine around 20 times a day as well.

I love Gold Bond Ultimate Healing Foot Cream (yes, foot cream that I use on my hands). I just use the weak stuff my hospital provides during the day, but put this on at night and it helps a lot.

L'occittane Shea Butter Hand Cream...you'll never go back to the cheap stuff I promise.

I was a scribe and always foamed up when I enter/exit a room. Wash your hands with soap and water fewer times, like in the bathroom, before meals, when you get home--but not more than maybe 6 times a day. And try to use a hydrating liquid soap. CeraVe is a good one. Use a hand sanitizer with Aloe all the other times and use it mostly on your palms and fingers (not the back of the hand).

As for moisture.... I use Safflower oil/vitamin E on my hands in the morning and at night before bed. Then on the back of my hands, I use a hyaluronic acid based face cream with SPF 15.

You don’t have to scrub before every case. Only the first scrub of the day has to be with soap and water. The others can be with chlorhexidine “lotion” or whatever sanitizer the hospital has. That’s how everyone in my system does it.

The chlorhexidine dries the **** out of my skin and makes it crack and bleed, so I always used the betadine scrub.

Have you tried using a hand sanitizer/foam instead? I find it's much less irritating/drying. Or even just a gentler soap if possible.

Correct. Hand sanitizer is much less irritating/drying than soap and water over time.
