I have a question. I am not a resident of Puerto Rico. My entire extended family (from both sides) lives there though. (Grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins). I know that UPR has been known to accept residents only but in MSAR they listed a non-resident tuition price. Does that mean they are also accepting non-residents?

This is from their website:

Highly qualified Puerto Rico non-residents must demonstrate strong ties to Puerto Rico. To determine strong residential ties to Puerto Rico, the Committee on Admission will review the applicant’s birthplace, high school attended, college attended and parent’s legal residence. An applicant who meets three (3) of the four (4) categories demonstrates strong ties to Puerto Rico.

I believe you have to have closer ties than that. I encourage you to apply anyways.

Ya estoy verificado por AMCAS, pero todavia sigo sin recibir ninguna noticia de RCM. Es normal esto??

La solicitud uniforme para medicina abre entre agosto y septiembre.
 
Research is necessary at this Med School? I'm a pre-med looking to applying to this med school and plan on doing more than (2000+ hours volunteering) but no research. Puerto Rican resident btw.

I don't know if it is necessary, but it is strongly recommended.

Does anyone know when do they start sending ii?
 
I can't find the uniform application, the email they sent leads to an Oops! Google page. How did you guys find it? Did you google it? I found two applications, yet I have no idea which is the one I'm supposed to fill. One says "old" and one doesn't say old but looks older than the one that says "old".

Via text message? Are you sure? It seems like such a bizarre way to send ii's. I haven't received any, I'm hoping I get one before the year ends.

my friend got it this morning, she sent us a screenshot. Mind sharing your stats? They invite in order of your score on the formula they use

you have good stats for them but not on the higher end of the list,like my stats are 3.50 cGPA 3.30 sGPA and 24 plus lots of research at RCM and goodEC but hopefully we'll get called or texted soon! you will probabl hear before me

Well, from what I've gathered, no one from sdn has received an ii. RCM is known for silent rejections, but I'm still hoping for the best.

And what about those who aren't from sdn? How many do you know that have gotten interviews, and if possible, with what MCAT scores? My apologies if it is too much of an invasive question.

I only know of two people who got interviewed so far, and both of them happened in december, they both had 28+ MCAT.

I knew that last year the people who got 26+ were called early. Furthermore, some of them got acceptance letter really early post-interview.
 
I was interviewed mid december (ii through text message and email), still haven't heard back from them. They told me they would have a decision by January, so I am still hopeful. Do you guys know of any acceptances??

Can you share your thoughts on the interview? How many people where interviewed and what questions?

Beign interviewed that early can only mean good things. Hope everything goes well.
 
Sure. I was only scheduled one interview with a doctor, who is also faculty. It was a pretty chill one-on-one interview. I've had four interviews this application cycle and the one at RCM was the one that felt more like a conversation rather than an actual interview. Really no specific questions besides the usual "why do you want to go into medicine?". Although I guess this highly depends on the person who is conducting the interview.
Also, they asked me to bring a folder with extracurriculars. I just went with an extended copy of my CV and it seemed to be ok.
 
i have 4 friends who have gotten interview. they use a formula to rank you. two of my friends have a 4.0 and very high MCAT, they interviewd in Dec. The other two one has a ~3.8 cGPA and 27 MCAT and the other has a 31 MCAT and ~3.6 cGPA. the other friend who got an interview but it hasnt happened yet has a ~3.5cGPA and 28 MCAT

no acceptances yet. They usually say ~3 week post interview but in UPR system that could actually mean a month or more. Last year I knew of acceptances in early feb.
 
I called and was told with my stats I could expect a february interview :/

I swung by the office today and she said "your application has been evaluated and you do not qualify for an interview yet"

I have NO idea what that means. From what I understand they call out in order of your rank in their formula and they do bunches or groups. I hope that means I am not in the current or next group of calls for II. 🙁 but I am still hopeful especially since I have yet to give them my updated transcript

I forgot to ask, they told you the same thing as UCC? UPR-MSC said you could expect a february interview?
 
Called today, the admissions officer told me that if it where last year I would have gotten an ii already, yet it seems this year theres a lot of applicants with really high MCAT's. I'm not losing hope just yet.

We will likely interview close to one another my updated stats are c3.56 s3.40 24MCAT

i am not giving up yet I just really want them to hurry
 
Received an acceptance letter last Friday! Extremely excited about this! Exito to you all!
