Hey guys, I am a first time applicant and fairly new on SDN. I finished and e-submitted my application on June 20th, which is a bit late. I know I'll be second or third batch for sure. Anyway, who else is applying to Nova ?
 
Yup, I am applying to Nova also. I got a call from them a while back saying that they received my supplemental from me. They seem very nice and courteous.

Wait, I thought we only send the supplemental application when they contact us, that basically what it says on AADSAS website. Man I'm screwed...
 
I spoke with nova verbally about my app which went out early June and they said to wait for the supp app. I understood this to be the correct order of admissions steps for NOVA. How many others have already submitted nova supp? Just curious.. Good luck everyone.

Does anyone know if it is possible to change something on the supplemental application?
 
I recently found out about the DO/DMD program through the supplemental application. I think it would be perfect for me, Nova just became my top choice now. Anyone else interested in this program?
 
Hold up. What supplemental application? AADSAS said that there would only be an admissions fee and supplemental application when an admissions officer contacted you. Then, just to see if I could get ahead of the game, I went to their website and the link for the supplemental application didn't work. Have people already been contacted to fill out this application?

I'm with you.. Are we supposed to fill out supplemental now or when they contact us???
 
Guys, I called them and they told me to wait until they contact us, but the application is online and you can start working on it. That way when they email you, you can submit it right away. It's fairly short, doesn't take long at all.
 
They email you the supplemental page (fee + filling out some questions). I would wait until they send it to you just in case! I hope I get an interview here soon 🙂
 
I just got a call from nova saying that my completed application is going to the committee for review right now! (Confusing because my official DAT scores aren't in yet... but I'm not complaining!)

I just received the same phone call!! Sh#ts getting reall! Lol.. Jkn but good to see some movement
 
Hi folks,

in the supplemental application (the online link), there is a question ask u to list all the dental schools to which u r applying this year. What is that about? Why do they want to know what other schools u r applying to?

They want to see if you are applying there as a back up, but I would still be honest because they have access to those kind of information.

Hey how long did it take for your LOR to get there? I had one sent out 2 weeks ago and it's still not in yet. I'm getting worried.
 
all my LORs went out with my AADSAS app- I was planning on sending one from a liberal arts professor straight to the school later since Nova is the only school I'm applying to that requires one but I guess since they already said my app is ready for review I'll only send it if they contact me about it

Ok thanks, I actually had my spanish teacher to send her LOR directly to Nova last week. Oh and you are not interested in their DO/DMD program are you?
 
Nope! I figure it's better (and cheaper) for me to use those extra 2 years to do a dental residency
 
Spoke with NOVA this afternoon. Those in the first batch that are "complete" began being reviewed as of today. I was also informed that based on this start schedule the admissions office will start making some sort of offer/contact with those applicatnts as early as next week. That is Freaking cool...

Guess we just sit and wait a few days longer...

so just to make sure, we wait until contacted to fill out the supplemental right? Also, I was in the second batch (07/05). I have yet to receive any kind of phone call or email from them. Have other second batchers been contacted at all? Thank you!
 
I'm currently extremely jealous of you first batchers.

I have not received any contact from Nova as yet Changedude21 and I am also in the second batch. Hopefully soon. Til then, keep those fingers crossed!
 
nova will invite for interview without letters of rec.

i was invited in july without letters. earliest interview date is early sept.

So, we shall wait until contacted to submit the secondary?? For those folks who have received phone call about receiving your secondary, did you folks get any email instruction of the secondary?
I was going to submit mine, until I just saw Changedude21 & DentalElle are waiting.
 
I have a question here about one secondary question
"Describe any special circumstances that you feel might aid the Admissions Committee in evaluating your application."
What does this mean? Are they asking why you r a good or unique applicant??
I just do not see what exactly they are asking.
 
Things like are you the first person in your family to go to college? Did you have to work full time to support your family during school? Difficulties that you overcame ......etc
 
so people in first batch should be hearing back as early as this upcoming monday??
that is hard to believe. but i'm not complaining!
 
Thanks Andrew, so I should put something down there no matter what? I think it is a optional question. I do not have much to say, but i guess if left it blank, doesnot look good.
 
Me personally, I'm not going to put down anything. All that I wanted to say was in my personal statement. I don't want to keep repeating things making it sound like I want them I feel sorry for me or what not.
 
So all I know is I spoke with the Admissions office on Thursday of last week and was told that the committee began officially reviewing completed applicants that same day. Then the lady told me that based on where I was in that stack of completed apps "to be evaluated" that I could expect to hear back something by the end of next week.

So wether its Monday or Friday, I think some Sh#t is going down at nova this week.

Absolutely... Lets hope all these puzzle peices are accurate and favorable towards and interview..

Very cool school. Everyone is friendly and inviting over the phone and in person when i made an uninvited stop by to check things out. I'm stoked for something soon..

does it make a difference if you schedule the first week or the second week of available interviews?
