After more than a month, my application is still yet to be reviewed. AMCAS's really dragging their asses.

Anybody in the same boat?
 
at least you guys have been waiting a while. I submitted mine last Sunday.... I have a looooooooong while to go.
 
submitted 8/31 verified 10/10
 
Submitted 9/19 thought I would be verified next week, guess not.
 
It'll happen soon... I submitted on 9/09 and was verified yesterday... hang in there for just a few more days!
 
someone told me that AMCAS was getting faster. As in verified in 2 weeks i guess they were wrong i still have to submit mine. Yea i'm behind.
 
i submitted 9/20 and really hope it gets done within a week or so.. i've already sent out secondaries and LORs, the AMCAS wait blows.

My understanding is it just gets progressively slower from June-October/November.

And with the deadlines coming up - I would be really surprised if its getting faster. I'm guessing the recently verified applicants guess of 6 weeks is right.

Do you mean you've sent out the secondaries for the schools that's not screening, or did you get some from the rest of them?

Also, I heard from my premed advisor that AMCAS has less than 20 people working to verify the applications... Sucks bigtime, considering how much money people are paying them, huh?

Waiting sucks! The school (yes, just one this cycle) I'm applying to screens for secondaries. Thankfully, I know the secondary questions, so I'm going to have the essays all typed out and ready to go the second I get my secondary. Is anyone else kicking themselves for waiting so long??? ARGH!

hey agm, we submitted on the same day, 9/19. was verified this morning. had transcripts in before i submitted. hope u hear back soon! (if you haven't already). :luck: :luck:

Strange... I submitted 9/15 and had all my transcripts in as well before I submitted. I'm still waiting to be verified. I contacted AMCAS and all the person would tell me (as if they were reading off a prepared sheet) "it takes 4-6 weeks to process sir, I have no more information available to me." 😕 :scared: 🙁

Same here, same day submitted. Currently treading water in verification limbo...
 
I think I submitted the last week of August and just got verified so I guess about 6 weeks for me. I'm just hoping that I'll be ahead of all the August MCATers
 
lol I submitted October like, 6th or something. So...I guess I have a looooooonng wait. Oh well.
Can't wait to see what my scaled GPA is.
 
Anyone else get verified recently? Do we have a chance still? Everyone's comments about late applications are making me REALLY nervous!!!!

Thanks DrJen...I don't know if it's because I just joined SDN, but there seem to be a LOT of negative opinions on getting in if you are still not verified!

I know the feeling. I really have to lay off the SDN too. It makes me terrified! We just have to remember that there are plenty of people in the same boat. Most of them just aren't the SDN type. Come to think of it, I don't think I'm the SDN type. *LOL* Besides, I don't know about you, but I'm not exactly applying to Harvard...

Submitted 9/2 - not verified.
One of my transcript requests was "misplaced" by the school, so I had to request it again. AMCAS received it 9/25 🙁
 
submitted 9/19 and still waiting (ready to review), tapping foot impatiently.

SDN is like that girl you keep going back to even though you know she's manipulative, all you do is fight, and she makes you miserable yet somehow you just can't resist her.

Evertime I go on SDN I get incredibly anxious because I start to feel behind or inadequate in some way (and I was verified 9/19) but I keep coming back, i guess hoping for some good news or comfort or something....oye, when will I learn. 🙁

SDN is actually a very helpful thing only if you stay on topic and only if you don't let SDN discourage you in any way.

To try the positive aspect of SDN, has anybody BEEN verified recently? If so, what date did you submit and what date verified? THANKS!!!
 
On another thread, Dr. PK said that he submitted on 9/24 and was verified yesterday.
 
Sorry to hijack the thread, but it is somewhat on topic:

I was about to submit my application in a day or two. I am applying to a school that has a deadline of November 1st for AMCAS & December 1st deadline for ALL MATERIAL (SUNY Upstate). Am I too late?

If it takes 6 weeks to verify, then yes, you will be too late since that would be beyond Dec. 1st. However, there is a good chance that your application will be verified in less than 6 weeks. If I were you, I would apply to SUNY and do the secondary ahead of time with the prompt questions. I would also send your recs there before you are verified (assuming their secondary is automatic)...if you wait to send recs until verification, you may miss the deadline!

As you have probably figured out, it takes a long time to get AMCAS verified, so if SUNY screens for secondaries, then you might have to contact them to get the secondary early.

Back on the topic... I just realized that we were only supposed to send 1 transcript to AMCAS... I sent 25 copies, for all 25 med schools I'm applying to... Maybe this is why it's taking so long for me :laugh:

None of the SUNY schools screen for secondaries.
 
I called AMCAS today and asked if I can still submit an application for a school that has a November 1st deadline, and the rep said yes. She said as long as your application is received by AMCAS before the deadline it is okay...
I don't get it... doesn't the application have to be at the school before November 1st? or when they say November 1st they mean submitted to AMCAS before Nov. 1st? :scared:
 
SUNY schools don't screen?? I submitted a month ago and I have not received anything from them. Those are my top choices as well.

btw- amcas still has me by the balls...

The deadline date is the date by which AAMC has to receive your application. But if there are any questions about your application during processing and they return it to you for any corrections, then, according to them, you have missed the deadline!

So as long as you submit it by the deadline date and they process it without any errors you are fine.

AMCAS Deadlines

As far as the secondary deadlines are concerned, it is between you and the college that you are applying to.

For instance, I submitted my AMCAS Oct 15, probably will be processed around Nov 15. One school has a secondary deadline that is Nov 15. I am going ahead and sending the secondary even though they have not received my primary yet.

I just want to emphasize that the above response answers, correctly mind you, many questions people have about deadlines. 👍

Nope, transcripts were in around the 9/12
 
i'm still not verified and i called today and they said the average wait is 4.5 weeks as of today🙁

i submitted 9/15 with my transcript and everything already received and still not verified. apparently its not first come first serve...
 
Very frustrating that they can just randomly decide who they verify first, without much consideration for who submitted first!

also, when does your status change to "under review" and how long does it stay like that??
 
I submitted 9/20 and was finally verified today 😀

Oh yeah, as for being under review...I checked at 5:00 and I was still ready to be reviewed. I then checked again at close to 7:00 and I was verified. So, in my case it didn't take very long. I'm guessing it might take longer if the courses/grades were entered wrong or something along those lines.
 
I am sure they send us an e-mail about verification being complete. Right?
