This thread is meant for those applicants currently waitlisted for Boston University School of Medicine's entering class of 2009. We will create a list of usernames and when someone gets accepted, we will celebrate their good news and put them on an accepted list! In this way, we can keep each other informed and have an idea of the waitlist movement. Please add your name to the list if you have been waitlisted for BUSM this year!!

Some hope for all of us... I emailed the assistant dean of admissions (my former professor) and she said that in the past two years the wait list did not move however, due to the economy and the price of BU it will most likely move.

Rather than cross them off, you should just mark them "accepted" so you can keep track of the good news and give the rest hope.

OMG, i am so bossy!!!!

anyone wanna the admin office ask how many are on the wl?

Hey everyone, just a quick update re the unofficial SDN list from those who have posted here and on the BU Secondary forum: we are at 36 people who were offered waitlist spots (minus 2 people who withdrew). My guess is that with the number of WL people posting to SDN, they offered at least 50 WL spots...just a guess though.

50 sounds about right. They did say the waitlist is very small. Any idea how the list will move in June, July, and August?

Trying to help keep your list accurate!! 50 isn't all that big 🙂

i really doubt it's as little as 50 if we have ~36 reporting here, but i bet it's relatively small nevertheless. maybe ~100? 😕

i estimate it to be closer to the 100 mark. if they went conservative this year and doled out fewer acceptances then they must have created a large waitlist since there is minimal risk for them. keep in mind that when they say "small" it is in relation to how many apply to BU which is a ton.

my question is that if it is not ranked how do they go about picking people off the waitlist? i am unfamiliar with this

Just checking in...up to 41 listed on SDN. 4 of those withdrew from the WL. Thanks to everyone that has shared their information. Somehow "keeping track" makes me feel more in control. Couldn't June 1 arrive already?!?

If you want another non-scientific way to keep track, check out the Boston University Class of 2013 facebook page to gauge how many students have already made their final decisions, and are active on facebook. Now that second look day has past, and we are getting closer to May 15, it should be a good way to see how many spots might be available for everyone on the waitlist.
