When did they change the Texas process? When I applied, we found out where we matched on 1/15. The wait must be torture!

This year. And yes, it's torture.
 
Its better than checking your mail or email everyday like the rest of the nation, but the wait is killing me. I must admit it. I am okay right now, but when it gets less than 10 days to it... let's just say I will be freaking out to see where I am going to spend the next four years. I want an acceptance PLEASE!!!! I am glad I am not the only one going bonkers.

When were the last interview dates for all the schools?
 
I'm hoping for UTHSCSA, too. Oh wait a minute....I am already there.

But really, good luck to all of you. I'll already be gone by time you guys will be starting...there is a light at the end of the tunnel, I think.

Less than a month to go...

Some days I feel confident that I will see a school name under the "School matched", but some days I fear that there will be none... I kept thinking back on interview day, did I mess up, did I do well... Arrrgghhhh
It will be over soon, good luck Texas Applicants.

do you think its worth updating the adcoms on first semester grades? im not sure if it will be taken into account, since theyve probably already done their rankings. any thoughts? thanks

WHAT!?! When did they change it to 1/15. I didnt know that!

I think it used to be 1/15 which seems to be what pman was saying... which I didn't know either. But pretty sure this year is 2/1.

Yeah I ranked it 1st too. I got a really good vibe about the school that I didn't feel anywhere else. I would be extremely honored to be accepted to san antonio in particular. But hey!

hmmm sounds like a good idea but I figure by the time they get the transcript match day would have come and gone....

So the date is February 1, right? But that's on a Sunday. Do you think it'll still happen then? or will they wait for Monday? It's all on a computer anyway, so you'd think they'd just make it pop up on Sunday. And do you guys know if it'll be at midnight or what?

I only applied to one of them, so I've kind of got all my eggs in one basket in Texas. Kinda nervous.

I heard something about them doing it the Friday that precedes Feb 1st when the 1st falls on a weekend. From what I've heard, the schools are supposed to send in their acceptance lists to TMDSAS on or abouts the 15th of January and they take the remaining two weeks to process those lists, so it's conceivable that we'll find out early.

Has anyone emailed them about this. They answer pretty quickly don't they... so does anyone have a definite answer that we could find out on Friday, or anyone willing to email them about it. I didn't realize it would be on a Sunday...

I believe you are suppose to send an updated transcript to TMDSAS, and they send it out to the schools... however, I might be wrong. Even if you sent one out today, I doubt they will get it in time to readjust their ranking. Does anyone already in a Texas Medical know how fall semester grades are factored into the match?
 
yeah, i know sending a transcript now woudlnt be smart, but i was thinking of emailing the admissions office a copy of my grades. any thoughts? thanks
 
where did you hear the early stuff rager?
 
It seems like San Antonio is really popular this year. Last year Houston was popular also. Is the trend the same this year, or are more people ranking Dallas higher? Just wondering...
 
I called TMDSAS and they told me that the matches will be up there at midnight, Feb 1 even though that is a Sunday.

Yes...match is posted at midnight the 1st of feb. However...I heard that it actually went up at 10:30pm Jan 31st last year...a whole 1.5 hours early. Whoohoo!

We have until January 15th to make our final ranking on the TMDSAS website preferences section. After that it is too late to change your ranking of your top choice. The med schools also have until the 15th to submit their rank list to TMDSAS. Then the computer takes over and gets you with your top choice if you match. FYI UTSouthwestern is interviewing this weekend for example and won't have their list in till the following monday I would presume.

SA is my top choice also!!!
 
anyone deciding b/w sa and houston? whats your reasoning?
 
I was impressed with all the Texas schools actually, and I am basically ranking on location.

i chose houston because i have a lot of family in the area and because of the TMC - it was a tough decision but i could just see myself being happier at UTH than UTHSCSA
 
I agree with Lane on the importance of family in making your choice. For support finacially and otherwise being close to them is important to me. I will rank based on that importance first over which school I liked the best.

ACK!!! Not another UTHSCSA person.. this is like some horrible nightmare where everyone and their dog is going to rank UTHSCSA as their first choice.
