Hey everyone!

Well, I have an entire summer before I start medical school, and I'm trying to figure out what I should do in that time. So I ask, what would you do the summer before you took the big plunge?

P.S. If it's travel, be specific.

1) Absolutely NOTHING!

My bad; definitely didn't take notice of the running count. Please ask Netanyahu to lift me from the black list. As for sky diving; that would make bad things worse...me falling and in the process crushing two reverse humping dogs; I can't think of anything worse.

Not too much going on. Spent the weekend at Iowa State, driving home got stuck in weather and had to redirect. The result was a 2.5 hour drive taking 8 hours; not awesome. Then to get home to a letter that I was waitlisted at my top choice. Just when everything was looking down, I remembered that today is Opening day, so things pretty good. What's up with you?

If most of the posts on here are serious, then 90% of the 101 things can be summarized as:

Use my parents' money to have fun. 👍

38. read a FULL BOOK. or maybe several of them.

go ahead and laugh, it took years after my last intense grad school experience to move beyond 20 minute articles and short summaries and slow down enough to to do this.

39. savor getting 7+ hours of sleep per night.

I was actually serious about prestudying haha it would suck while you were doing it but you would be really happy once school started 😀

That seems like a bad idea since you dont know what is going to work ebst for you yet. But if you really want to spend your last free days like that then go at it.

Med schools pretty much have the same curricula. The books I listed will help if you study them at any med school.

I didn't do it, but wish I had. That's all I'm saying.

1. Trick this chick named Alison into liking me...
2. Spend lazy summer days daydreaming
3. Learn to play the guitar better.
4. Sit on my back porch smoking hookah
5. Fly a kite
6. Get into great shape by running on the beach
7. Learn how to shave (I hope to hit puberty sometime during my M2-M3 year)
8. Sit on the dock with my friends (like in Dawson's Creek)
9. Get a huge sunburn

Do you guys realize that in 3 months we will be finding apartments and having our lives change FOREVER! in 4 months we will be starting school, many of us will leave our families and friends to start a somewhat "Adult" life...full of responsibility. This is really exciting and nervous for me to think about. 2 years ago I had no clue what I wanted to have a career in. 1 year ago when I was thinking of applying to med-school, I had no idea if I would actually get in. Now, as I sit here, I can only think about how much my life will be changing in a few short months and how I have absolutely no idea about what many of those changes will be.

I was thinking the other day about how much effort I have put into getting into medical school, and I really feel that it is the most rewarding thing to ever happen to me. If I had to decide between winning the lottery or becoming a medical student, I would pick being a medical student because I have worked so hard for this and it has finally paid off. When things are just given to you with no imput of work on your behalf, then I don't really feel like you can be happy about what you have.

THE END.

-Put my SCUBA cert to good use
-Go to Europe with friends
-Practice guitar
-Enjoy a last summer in Austin
