Hey Guys,

I have my 1st real EM job interview coming up. Need advice. What are the questions you all feel are MUST ASK? Unfortunately I haven't been able to go to those job interview prep talks.

Looking for some help from my senior peeps. I'm a little nervous, the set up for the interview seems pretty formal.

Thanks!!

Relax. It's the opposite of your med school/residency interviews. When you're going for a real job, most places have already seen your CV and know your qualifications. They are going to try and sell the place to you, rather than you having to sell yourself to them. My best advice is just to remain interested, and ask questions relating to practice environment, reimbursement, group structure, etc.

Just some starters:

What are the retirement benefits like? What is the employer contribution (as a percentage of your salary)? Are you vested immediately or is there a delay of a year + before this kicks in?

What is your malpractice insurance coverage cap? Is there a "tail" on the policy?

Are you a hospital employee or member of a private group?

What is the backup system if someone is sick? Is there a defined sick call system?

Thanks guys!!
