Comet are you still waiting to get into NYU???? Well the good thing is that if you don't get in this year Mrs. Knowles will re-consider your application. So you don't have to apply to AADSAS again. That is what she is doing with my application.

Good luck and I know what it feels like to be on a school's waiting list!!! I was on BU waiting list, but did not get in because I was missing a required course. Hang in there and never give up :)

hopefulgirl
that is exactly what is happening to my file. i am re-applying for 2004 cycle and the good thing this time with NYU is that i only have to update my file with them. i wonder if you already know this or not, but NYU 's class for 2004 will be smaller.

Vishal, how did you get those grades???

Comet

Hi Comet,
I don't know what to say, but I really worked hard. I guess
hard work pays in the long run! Thanks.

Hi comet208. I don't quite understand why NYU's class of 2004 will be smaller? I constantly check their website and they still plan to recruit 235 students next year? Do they change or maybe they just do not update their website?

Comet,

although NYU is not my first choice, I still really liked the school. The faculty and admin. people were really friendly. Anyhow, just email Mrs. Knowles and update her on your progress. I am constantly in touch with her via email. Just make sure this year you are doing something to improve your stats if you have to.

I didn't know that they are cutting the # of students. How many are they accepting for 2004? About time!!!

But you still have a chance for this year, right? You never know!

Please give me some feedback on my stats. I know they are low, especially the DAT. Be honest and tell me what you think!:)

NYU is cutting down on the number of studnets b/c its decision of the new dean. i have heard it willl be down to 130, but i dont believe it. i'll let you know once i find out myself.

Comet

NYU going down to 130?? EEEKS!! That's horrible!!!

Comet,
I am in the incomming class at NYU and I can tell you that they are definetely not cutting back to 130. That was a question asked during the deferment meeting.
The school has NO intentions of being a small 100 student school.
They are still interested in being the 200 plus class size.
They want to continue remaining the largest dental school because it gives the school so many options and variety.
I think the dean mentioned the class size being smaller next year, but not 130 students. It will still be large, just not 270!

:p Hang in there!

When all of the dust settles, you have an excellent chance of getting to choose between the six schools if you have good interviews.

Thanks. I was worried about Columbia, mostly because of my low PAT. I certainly hope they'll look beyond that.
Also did anyone with similiar stats get interview with the schools I mentioned, especially Columbia?

Good luck to all of you applying in 2003. :)

Your stats are pretty similar to mine. You'll be fine...contrary to some popular belief, a 17 PAT will not kill you. I did not apply to columbia, but i would probably lean towards UCONN out of all those schools. Best of luck.

Uconn Dental school is great, I heard some really good things along with their number one on dental boards. Also Uconn is a busy place research wise. But Columbia is much closer to me , and staying in NYC is preferable for me.
Zurich5, did you apply to the same schools
(except Columbia you mentioned)

What do you think about University of New Jersey school of dentistry?

Not everyone takes the acceptance.

Thanks for crushing my hope, posting right after mine. ^^

Good GPA though~!!

btw r u applying to Med school also?

Dentistry321, your GPA is low but your DAT scores are excellent!

You'll have a good application cycle, although I wouldn't expect any love from UW or Harvard. All the other schools are great shots for you.

hey comet,
are you waitlisted to nyu for 2004? have you already gone to the interview? or was this last year

Both!!! i was waitlisted for the 2003 cycle, but did not get in. so they are keeping my file active with the status remaining the same. so, i am on the waitlist for the 2004 cycle.

i wanna thank everyone for having their stats posted here. however, can you please go back, edit, and update your stats PLEASE??

wow i see so many users wondering around sdn and very few of them have their stats posted.

nice job guys( ones with no stats)! keep using sdn for your own self and don't bother to help others.

perfect....you have great stats....however, not everyone is as perfect as you and are willing to post their less than average stats.... :(

actually i wish my name reflected my stats. my scores are very close to avg and i have a 15 in RC and a 2.97 gpa.

besides, its not like anyone will know who you exactly are. posting your stats only helps others. i think that everyone should be able to post their stats as it is only fair to the rest of us and sdn is totally annonymus.

thats at least what i think.
