2005 NBDE part1 and DDS application

Hello,

I had taken NBDE 1st wk July and got 86. Am not too happy neither very depressed as I felt the exam was tough.

Nevertheless I plan to apply for DDS adv standing programs to 7-8 schools.

My GPA is 3.3 (ECE), class rank 8/41 students, TOEFL = 262, NBDE (I) = 86 and I have 2 full years of work experience as a general dentist back in India. Infact I have one recommendation from my supervisor too.

Can anyone give me a frank opinion about my chances based on facts and experience. I very well know my credentials are average/maybe just above avg but still I would like to apprise my chances.

If anyone has taken 2005 NBDE(I), please post your scores also.

From what I've gathered, you don't have much of a chance. It seems the successful students all have Part I scores that are above 90.

Your best bet, as far as advice goes, is to post your message in the International forum, so that's where I'm moving it to...

Please consider retaking Part 1. I have Part 1/ Part 2 scores 86/83 and I couldn't get into any school, including NYU. So don't wait for the miracle. With 86 you will get interview calls from several schools I am sure of it, but you won't get an acceptance. I have been to the interviews at several schools and hence speaking from experiences. BTW I am retaking Part 1.
