Could someone explain what HST and NP are? I know I could google them but I'm very lazy sometimes.

jack.bauer said:That's a little surprising, especially since their yield for waitlist is 40-60% (about 25 people) but nobody has responded on SDN. Don't know why they are giving different info to us but I can name the specific person I talked with.

i hope you are all doing well...this waitlist can drive you nuts, i know...
so last year, i was one of the few people who got off the waitlist and posted on sdn...don't judge waitlist movement by this thread. i know...who wouldn't be on sdn, right??? but, there are several of folks in my class who got off the waitlist...jees, where where they??? i sure could have used some company on sdn!!!
anyway, good luck! don't give up, but try not to be obsessed. i hope they get moving and let you all know asap.

Signing off in Paris...

Kudos for being on it. HMS was the only school that rejected me after interviewlexy10 said:nothing here...the wait is killing me...at this point I just want one of us to hear something!
jack.bauer said:At this point, I would assume that the info we've received regarding people already being accepted is probably true and that this year, they probably had an abnormally high yield. Last year, they heard back on the 27th, and even on the 20th on whether they were still interested in the school. So, I guess we should let it go...

Judging from the number of different replies that each of us have heard from the Admissions office, it seems that the front office may not be "informed" on the happenings of the waitlist. One of my mentors -- who is a former faculty member at HMS and former member of the admissions committee -- confirmed that most waitlist work is done without the front office (at least when he was there..). I've talked to a male member of the office (who I assume is the same male that most of you have spoken too), and he seems to be the most negative about chances of waitlist acceptances. I have also talked to two females (distinctly different voices) who both told me that the bulk of waitlist movement would be end of June through middle of July. I'll keep hope for a couple more weeks -- it can't hurt. Regardless, we should be pretty proud of just making the waitlist for HMS -- not many people do..![]()

top said:thanks guys...it's been really exciting the last couple days! i was called by the director of admissions (not the dean), who was exceptionally nice.
sen said:Top...did they give you a deadline by which to accept or decline the offer? Just in case anyone turns them down, may be they'll make a few more offers around that time...
Seems to me that at this point they're probably done, but hopefully I'll be proven wrong.
Any more news? Anyone called HMS recently?
lexy10 said:No more news here. I wish I could just let it go, but alas, I am still holding on to that last shred of hope.
TOP: Did you receive that email described in passed years from the admissions office asking if you are still interested in going to Harvard, or did they just call you out of the blue?
RedSoxFan68 said:I called HMS today and had the opportunity to speak with the Director of Admissions (the person who makes the calls for the waitlist). She informed me that this year's yield was the highest since she had been there. They were only able to offer several waitlist offers, which is significantly less than in past years. The class is currently full and the only possible chance of a waitlist offer is a last minute deferral which is very unlikely (all of the accepted students are no longer holding waitlist positions at other schools). At least we can have a little bit of closure to our summer before the craziness of medical school begins. We can all be proud because not many people make it onto the HMS waitlist. Good luck and perhaps we will see eachother in 4 years for residency at HMS.
