I would really like to know that myself. The impression I got from reading through the VCU thread from last year is that everyone who didn't get accepted in March just got added to the waitlist...which means yet more waiting.

I think Dr. H said that after March they go through the list and cut the lowest ones in the pool.. those from 3.0-5.0 or something like that. They look historically at how many folks get off the waitlist, the highest numbers that get off the waitlist, etc., and then make a determination from there.

I could be wrong about this... my interview was a looooooooooooooooooong time ago and my memory could be growing mold at this point. lemme do some searching.

Generally, offers are sent about October 15, December 15, February 1, and then the class is completed by March 15 and all remaining candidates on hold are notified that they are on the alternate list or can no longer be considered.

So it seems some folks will get rejected on or around March 15. 🙁

Last year, after March offers, everyone remaining on hold list was transferred to alternate list. But it doesn't mean that this year it will be the same.

I got rejected post-interview tonight, as a matter of fact. Really hurts, I loved VCU and was sooooo hoping to get in. I interviewed in January.

Hey linuxgirl, sorry to hear that. It's a crazy process that doesn't always make sense. It's hard not to, but don't take it personal.

Just looking through the notes that I took when we met with Dr. Heldberg on interview day. I wrote that out-of-staters "poss. not until March".

I guess the point is that perhaps it's more the norm for OOS applicants NOT to hear too much until the March offering.

Yeah, I need to get a life and stop being so neurotic...............
But, hey, we could all use a little bit of hope, you know?

Are you applying this year? If yes, then the school really sucks.
If no, the school is fantastic. Great facilities, hospitals, students, teachers, etc. Love it. Except their admissions policy is complete bull shiz. I interviewed in early October and still no word. Just draggin me the #%$#%$ along. Oh well.
I mean...it really sucks.

I'm actually counting down to the 20th (anyone is welcome to join in 😛 ) because that's the date we heard Dr. H quote most recently. It is of course entirely possible that the offers may be made either earlier or later.

It'll change pretty soon. My guess is you'll get a status system update in a few days in your email inbox directing you to the website. There, you will see a post-interview survey (optional), and you will also be told that you are on hold until March for a decision. Also, since you apparently got an interview at Hopkins, I'm guessing your credentials are quite strong and in March you'll probably get an acceptance to VCU. Meanwhile, me and the other VCU central regulars have been strung along for months 🙁

I love it even more when they say that and then get "Bankrupt" on their spin... have I mentioned how much I hate VCU admission policies...We all have to promise that if accepted, we will run for student body positions and make our first item of business to change admissions procedures so no future applicant will have to suffer like this....

yeah I was thinking I'd join their adcom as a student member and give 1's to people like you / jbone / shyrem / others on this thread, and then give 3's to the people with 35 mcats and 4.0 gpas. Sorta try to even it out for us 😉

I don't know about you all but it seems like life in general makes me worry about the VCU acceptance procedure.

For example, I was watching the olympics last night and all the judges score the athletes on snowboarding or skating or something and they tallied up their "score". Finally, one of the commentators said how the scores seem to be getting higher as the competition goes on............................. I wander if this kind of garbage subconsciously happens to the VCU 'judges'. If they keep the initial scores a little low in case somebody better comes along and by the end they're just striking up 1.5 for everybody because they want out of the meeting? I'm sure it's fair and most of them have a scale they use to keep it fair but I just have way too much time to think about reasons why I'm not getting in!!! 👍

Man I hate this process.

I interviewed about a week ago, and was told there were plenty of (acceptance) spots left. And yes, the final offers will be made after ALL the interviews have been scored.

yeah i think he meant all interview invites have been sent out (im very sorry to those who havent been invited but a small part of me is excited that after interviewing in september of last yr there will not be anymore applicants being added with a better score than me 🙂 ). last round of acceptances is end of march but i dont think we have an exact date yet...most of us are thinking somewhere around March 20th...

I also called today and was told Feb 28th is the last day. But then I said "oh, so if I get an interview it'll be in the next 2 weeks?" and he told me that they expect lots of people to withdraw their apps as they get accepted at other schools, and so they'll be offering interviews as spots open up.
