Do you think it matters, though? For "Intro. to Sociology", I wrote it out without abbreviations.... For "Introduction to technological Systems" I kept it in its abbreviated form because it was so long!

I don't think it matters as long as they can verify that it is the same thing as what is on your transcript.

To bring conclusion to this:

Packamylase,

Thank you or your email. Please note that the course level will be
referring to your academic standing at the time of the course (freshman,
sophomore, etc..)

Thank you,

Does anyone know how to properly list awards or recognition on the AACOMAS application? I received a specific award multiple times, does that mean that I have to list it for every instance that I received it or is there a place to explain what the rewards are and how many times they were received that I am not aware of? Please let me know, as I am really trying to polish this app. off tonight. I also have an award that's title is "Company Star Performer" that could use some explanation. Is there a place to comment like there was on AMCAS?

I didn't see any area where you could put an explanation.

There isn't... I received Dean's Scholastic Honors a few times so I just listed each one seperately with the year received. As for the company award, just list which organization it was awarded from...I'm sure they'll understand what it is.

Thank you for the reply! Do you know how to list things awards that have been received yearly (i.e. scholarships, honor roll, etc.)?

DO either of you know whether we need to write out "w/Lab" next to those classes that had labs with them?

Well, I had several classes that had the lab included, but it didn't say that on the transcript. They were all 5 credit hours though so I left it how it was because I figured AACOMAS probably knows that a class worth that many credits has a lab.... I don't know...some say they added "w/Lab" and didn't have any problems but it says to type them how they are written on the transcript. So, basically, do what you want....I don't think it will hurt you either way. 😳

How far back in everyone going in listing these on AACOMAS? I figured just activities in college and beyond, but I wasn't sure. I know some schools want to know what you did even in high school (at least MSUCOM did last year). What is everyone's opinion?
Thanks!

Unlike AMCAS, my old MCAT score doesn't automatically appear in the AACOMAS application. I retook in April but am wondering if I'm obligated to input my old score.

That's because AACOMAS is not affiliated directly with AAMC. However, you are required to send your MCAT scores to the AACOMAS. This will automatically send all of your MCAT scores.

On a related note, how do we know if AACOMAS has received our MCAT scores from AAMC?

I'm only listing college experiences

does it matter if the sessions under the coursework heading is not in order because my summer sessions come before winter sessions when it should be opposite.

Can anyone give me any advice on whether or not to list a social fraternity as a part of extracurriculars?

here is a run down of my particular experience:

-was a member for 3 yrs.
-did not hold any leadership positions
-participated in recruitment and philanthropy events once in a while
-took up a lot of my time on the weekends

list or not list, and if so what type of description should I include? any advice is appreciated! thanks

I think it's a matter of preference. If you're looking for EC's to add, I would add it. Sounds like it was a good leadership opportunity. I would assume med schools want to know what you do with your spare time.

More importantly, How is Terrapin football going to look this year?

Guys, if anyone could answer this: On the 'GPA calculations' in AACOMAS, I don't see anything after adding my coursework. Will they calculate and display the AACOMAS GPA sometime soon?

After you submit your application. Beware, once you submit it, you can't edit your coursework.

I've already submitted it, and nothing comes up. Has anyone else who has submitted had their GPA calculations shown?

i think you have to wait until they verify your transcript

Do the activities (employment/volunteer/etc) need to be in any particular order: chronological/reverse?

When you enter the dates, they will automatically be placed in chronological order.

I had my GPA calculated on May 30 and my transcripts all received on May 26. It will take a few days and maybe more because of increased submission volume.

Anyone else having problems with transcripts? I've sent mine two weeks ago and another one week ago and they haven't been received by AACOMAS.

don't be afraid to resend. try calling the AACOMAS office first.
Okay, maybe they did receive my transcripts. I'm not sure about the notation on the AACOMAS. I submitted my AACOMAS on 6/1/06. When I click on transcripts, two of the schools that I requested transcripts for was listed, but only one of them had dates. Does that mean that both of the transcripts were received or that only one of them were? Parallel, when I look into the schools that I sent the AACOMAS to, beside AZCOM there is my $430 payment for all of the ten schools I am applying to. I will ask AACOMAS about this. Just wondering if I'm supposed to be seeing two dates for two transcripts or does the one date pertain to both of them. Thanks.

Mine appeared on the application on 5/26/06, but the date received that it lists is 5/22/06. So it may take a few days for it to go up there...

It says it received one of my transcripts on 5/22/06 and this was ever before I submitted my AACOMAS. The other transcript showed up (became listed) after I submitted my application. However, there is no date beside this one. Has anyone submitted their AACOMAS that are expecting two or more transcripts. If so, do you have dates beside both of them or just one of them? Note, I submitted a request for both transcripts on 5/12/06. AMCAS has received both of my transcripts. I sent in another request on 5/26/06.

when you send two or more transcripts the date received refers to the date for each of them and not both (or all) of them together. AACOMAS does not post the date they received the transcripts on the day they recieve transcripts but rather they post the date several days after they receive the transcripts. so even if you don't see a date that doesn't mean that they didn't receive your transcript(s) it just means they haven't posted it.

Okay, thanks.

Once we submit the primary app. to AACOMAS, should we wait until we receive notification via e-mail to complete the secondaries, or should we go to the websites of the schools we applied to and fill out/submit the secondaries?

I know not all schools pre screen, so I was just wondering if I should get a head start and fill out the secondaries now on the ones that don't screen.

I think you should fill out the secondaries but not submit it until you receive notification via e-mail to complete the secondaries. Getting a head start will be great because as soon as you recieve notification to do a secondary you can send them right away because you'll have them ready.

so if we have not repeated a class and we did not take it pass/fail or get AP credit it should just be listed as none for classification right?

yes.

Where should I list poster presentations and papers submitted for publication? Work,Ecs, or awards/Honors?

I would not list a poster presentation or a paper submitted unless the paper was actually published in a reputable journal. Then I think there is a case for listing it under work, ecs, awards, honors.

I am sure this has been asked, but I really don't feel like piling through eight pages right now, so I am sorry.

Are you listing everything chronologically? Or does it update that automatically? Thanks

lol my bad this was answers on the top of this page. sorry.

Question...

Where do unpaid internships go (taken with a class for credit)? Work experience or activities? Neither?

Doesn't matter the order you enter it in, AACOMAS will automatically order it chronologically once you submit.

I am putting mine under activities...and noting that it was unpaid....

I just spent 5 hours editing my AMCAS personal statement to my AACOMAS personal statement...now I have to proof it like crazy grrr

I was wondering whether the fact that my transcript has my name spelt differently (an extra 'E' in the surname) if that would affect how long it takes for my transcript to be marked received. It's been almost two weeks and its not posted yet, so i'm wondering if that could cause a delay. (i have the other name listed on AACOMAS). 😕

I already submitted my AACOMAS, but was there a section indicating the other ways to spell your name. If that is the case, then no, it shouldn't cause a delay because, it would be grouped with your primary application. I think AACOMAS is slow this year.

Do the transcripts spell your name, "Kiddingmee"? 😉

Sorry if this was asked before...
For the job and activity descriptions, is everyone just writing their responsibilities for each experience or are you also including what you learned from the experience?
