Anybody know how many VCU (or schools in general) pulls from the waitlist to fill spots?

Last year, VCU waitlist barely moved (mostly in May when applicants have to give up all but one offers) after about 900 people were interviewed, which is 250 more than they usually interview.
This year it seems that they are back to 650 so the waitlist should move more. In the previous years, when they also interviewed 650, approximately 70% of waitlisted aplicants ended up getting in. More of them were OOS but a good number of in-staters were accepted also. Usually about 50% of the class comes off the waitlist so don't be disappointed if you don't have an offer yet.
Also, last year there were a few rejections but the vast majority of people were waitlisted. Some years everyone was placed on waitlist. Waitlist positions are determined by your post-interview scores.
Good luck to all!
i agree! completely unprofessional in my opinion.I'm pretty pissed with VCU right now. I wait 4 months for an update, and they don't even post it when they said they would.
I have to find out from SDN that I've been waitlisted or rejected and have to wait until next week to find out.
Been accepted elsewhere, really considering withdrawing. Not that VCU cares.
Anyone know if VCU encourages/discourages emails or calls with questions re: waitlist, etc? 😳

yeah i felt that we would all find out on march 15, no matter what the decision. did applicants last year have to wait just as long to hear anything or is this something new?I think we're all stewing....
I feel the March 15th decisions should have and could have been handled in a much more diplomatic manner. At a minimum, the poorly worded message that is currently posted on the log in screen should have been posted at the same time they were updating the status of those with acceptances. That way they wouldn't have had to deal with so many phone calls from those of us who were completely left in the dark. We were obviously annoying to them. In years past, they updated the status of everyone at one time. Why were we to expect anything different?
I love the school but feel they dropped the ball on this one!
The bottomline: Good report with applicants is not a priority at VCU. EVMS, UVa, and VCOM could clinic VCU on how to handle the application process.

Count me as one less person on the OOS potential waitlist. I withdrew my application from VCU today, seeing as I now can walk up the street for medical school. Best wishes to you all.
and ppl that are OOS that are already accepted also withdraw! Thanks! Hopefully more people who wouldn't attend if accepted will withdraw as well.

so what do we think?...waitlist coming out tomorrow, thursday?

quick question,
so vcu has 184 seats, are 184 acceptances being held onto right now? im asking cuz i kno a lotta schools will give out ~250 or so acceptances expecting a lotta ppl to decline their offers...really hoping vcu doesnt do this so they can get to the waitlist faster!

I'm hoping they post something. Although I don't feel the intense anticipation I did last week, I'd still like to know if I can keep waiting or move on. The IS waitlist could be a miserably long wait but it is worth it to still have some hope of getting in.
Good Luck everyone!!!

Hey all, What does it mean when they haven't updated your status, yet?
I have to say that I don't think this is entirely fair. It sounds like this year many people have had frustrating experiences with VCU, but in my experience (in the previous app cycle) I don't think I encountered a single school that was more dedicated to communicating with its applicants. If there have been problems this year, I doubt it's just because VCU doesn't care (I realize this may not be a comfort to those waiting for news though).
Also, I think you meant to say rapport.
Rapport, yes. What isn't fair is for those who haven't applied this cycle to judge the rapport of this cycle. Perhaps last cycle was different. I applied to 6 schools. I received the least and pithiest communication from VCU. That's fact.
