me too. Oh well, I submitted a letter asking them to withdraw my application. Good luck to those still in the running and congrats to those accepted.
 
When they say to respond "in writing" do they mean traditional mail or is email an accepted form? I'd like to send them a letter asap, but would like to know first. Given that they sent the decision via email, I would *think* email (even with an attachment) would be acceptable, but what does everyone else think?

haha . . . email with attachment would be funny, b/c that's how the waitlist notification comes.

Anyway, I assumed they meant letter, and I'd just send that since there's no rush in getting it to them, the probably won't hit the waitlist too hard for a little while. It's what I had planned on until I withdrew.
 
I am very interested in applying to Wake Forest MD/MBA program. I have taken the MCAT twice 12 and 15 and I'm retaking it in 2007. I have a 3.5 UGPA and GGPA. I have been working for the past 3 years as an Epidemiologist. I would really like to get into the program at Wake Forest. Will you please give me any assistance you can as it relates to MCAT score, my chances of getting in, extra-curricular activities, volunteering, etc?
 
Hey any current or previous UNC or Wake acceptees...any idea if either/both provides some sort of network for trying to work out housing for next year. I want to start looking for options early next semester before they are all gone to undergrads, but it's tough to commit to something like a house without knowing that you can find housemates to live there with you. And I know that I personally would really only like to live with other med school students. Or if a current student sees this, maybe they could let us know how they worked things out. Thanks. Later yall!

well i can't imagine that you'd have to worry about undergrad competition at Wake, the campuses aren't really near each other. Plus, even then from what I've heard, most undergrads there live on campus... the place really had a "life in a bubble" feel to it when i drove thru.

UNC doesn't really offer on campus housing for grad students. There's PLENTY of cheap housing in chapel hill though. Plus, with a free bus system, its really easy to get to campus. Check out my link on the UNC Class thread, there's a pretty significant list of apartment complexes in chapel hill. When I was looking for an apt. last year, i started with that list, just calling around, then went to visit all the places in my price range.

EDIT: I take that back, UNC does allow grads to live in Odom Village, which is an absolute $hit hole that you'll pay top dollar for. Definitely need to go off campus!

There is at least one girl in my class living in grad student housing on campus, and there is for sure married student housing, but I'm not entirely sure how either works. The vast majority of people live off-campus. I'm sure it's cheaper and I know the quality is much better. CH has a great bus system so getting to class isn't that big of a deal, especially since the med school classes are relatively near the hospital.
 
Does anyone know how you find out decisions on residency status for UNC and ECU?
 
I just called UNC and asked them to verify my residency. They confirmed andd then sent me a letter a couple of days later.
 
Both ECU and UNC mailed me a letter with the decision on my status. However, if you call Mrs. Alston in the Residency office at UNC, she will let you know via phone. (919) 966-9931
That helped me out because, ironically, my letter stating I was declared not a resident went to my NC home address, not where I live, e.g. my school address.
 
So I called UNC 4 days ago to ask about my status; the man who answered the phone verified my name, my instate status, and my MCAT score (weird?) and then proceeded to tell me that I should be receiving a secondary and interview invite soon. Finally. So days have passed and still nothing in my inbox. I call UNC again today and get Lisa (the main admin lady) and SHE tells me that no decision has been made about whether I will be sent a secondary/interview yet! I'm like whaaa?? She said they will be sending them now through January (with a slight lag next week due to the Holidays)...I'm so confused. And frustrated. Because UNC is once again being slow and causing me more stress.

ARGH! 😡 Anyone else experience anything similiar?

Anyone know how many are interviewed at Wake Forest for each interview date?
 
At my interview, I believe that there were 6 of us. After the morning presentations and lunch, 3 people stayed behind for the "speed dating" type interviews that you can read about in the interview feedback section and my group of 3 went on our tour. After they were done with their interviews, my group did ours while they went on the tour. Hope this helps. Good luck if yours is coming up soon!
 
For those of you who called Wake Forest in hopes of an interview, how long after you were complete did you call? (I have been complete since around 12/10, and was wondering if I should call early next week)

I called every two weeks. Was complete in mid october and received the interview invite around 12-20. The impression I received was that calling doesn't affect whether or not you will receive an interview, but if you are going to receive an interview calling ahead of time would allow you to schedule an earlier interview date.
On another note, thanks a lot for answering my question about the size of the interview group.

Does anyone else feel like every Monday since interviewing at UNC has been a National Holiday? Will the adcom ever meet again???

I know it's a couple days old, but no one answered it yet.

ECU doesn't accept out of states, so if you're a non-NC, don't even bother.

UNC only accepts about 20 non-NC residents a year --- some state legislators have proposed closing down those 20 positions as well. It's just talk though, I doubt it'll happen.

So anyway, residency issues at ECU are non-existent. UNC a little bit more so, but barely.
 
only 20 OOS students matriculate at UNC every year, but i'm sure they accept more than that, since they obviously aren't gonna have a 100% retention rate
 
My secondary application was completed back in August. I called them yesterday and found out that they have made a decision last week. The person who answered the phone told me that they will inform me the decision soon in the next few days. I wonder if this mean that I am rejected? I searched for UNC invites and looked like they inform people by phone... Just wondering if anyone receive interview invites via different methods? btw, I am an OOS applicant so the chances are very slim..... but I would love to move to NC if given the chance... 😳

It's actually a bit fewer than 20. 20 is the maximum they are allowed to matriculate (by NC General Assembly mandate), but last year they only matriculated 17. They give out around 100 OOS interviews to attempt to matriculate 20 overall. I would venture to guess they accept something like 40 (if not more).

I know they met on 01/08 and I've heard they meet every two weeks so...the 22nd? But they have been telling me that they will 'wrap things up' for those that are on hold by the end of the month.
I guess at this point the best thing to do is to read a book, work, or start a project that will help you take your mind off the adcoms game--so you don't go crazy😳. At least that's sort of working for me lately. 😛
