Apparently UNC still has at least half their spots open at this point, and they said that by the time they're done interviewing in the beginning of March, they still have a little less than half their spots open. Also, they apparently take about 15 people off the waitlist for in-state spots. Does anyone know how big their waitlist pool is?

Does anyone know the latest that people hear from UNC? The website says "All other final decisions including acceptance, wait-list, and rejection are made and mailed to applicants by April."

Now.. does this mean by April 30th... or does this mean before April, like March 31st?

As far as I know, you can be taken off the waitlist at anytime...if your "score" is higher than the scores of the people being reviewed at that meeting, you'll be accepted and they will be waitlisted.

Well, I got in! No phone call or anything - just went to the mailbox to get my netflix movies (last Wednesday, 2/14) and there was a big envelope from UNC. I'm very excited and wish everyone the best of luck.

OK here's the deal on ECU. They are currently interviewing until the end of APRIL. That's right you read correct, the end of April. They only have about a 1/3 of the class filled, so those of us interviewing late still have a really good shot. In regards to ECU just pretend Feb is like Nov. I was also told it's probably that a good portion of the people that have accepted (1/3 of the class) will probably drop. That's excluding the early admission people (which from what I've heard is about 10 people). If you're waiting on ECU don't loose out hope. There is still plenty of time to hear from them. Like they always say if you haven't heard anything, that's a good thing.

I hate to contradict, but I just got back from my ECU interview and Dr. Peden said that they fill up the class at the same rate as the year goes by. So by the new year they had roughly half their class filled. At this point they have around 30 or so spots left. He also said that they only ever have 72 acceptances out at any time. The 1/3 part is right as far as I know, since he said that 2/3 of the people who receive acceptances go to ECU. Still, plenty of hope for people (like me). It will most likely be about 2 months before I hear anything, and it could be all the way until April. They don't offer you an interview unless there's a spot for you, so at least that's good news.

It's really crazy who you believe when you leave an interview. Dr Peden was not available to talk to us nor was Shelia. The person we talked to (whose name I can't remember at the time), looked on the sheet of accepted students and specifically told us that only 1/3 of the class had been filled. So I guess this comes down to one thing; are you the kind of person where the glass is half empty or half full. 🙄

I just realized that you interviewed the day before me. That is odd. Well, I hope that they still have 2/3 of the list empty. I don't know if I'd call it an optimist/pessimist thing though; after all, the list is either over half full, or 1/3, and what I believe isn't going to change that.

I am still waiting for an interview from ECU. But even if it doesn't work out for me, I wish everyone good luck with ECU. It's a great program and I would absolutely love to go there.
