Called ECU this past week and still no decision. I was told that I'd hear either this week or next. And, I asked if no news was still good news, and she laughed and said "yes". So tired of waiting!!
 
Regarding the unc waitlist letter, do we have to send all the transcripts now or can we wait until after graduation when the grades will be final?

on a side note, we just hit the over 1000 post mark...:luck: 😀 😎
 
isn't it sad that we already hit the 1000 post mark, and im still on the unc waitlist 😡
 
Rejected over the phone from UNC.

I guess they discriminate against Wookies. I'm contemplating a lawsuit.

Seems like there are a lot of you there - must be a huge waitlist at UNC.

It is no fun being on this waiting list. I am getting realy scared. It seems that there are so many of us waiting to get in.


To greeniz, I talked to Lisa yesterday morning, and the transcripts are also due by May 15th.

I would go ahead and send your transcript now and just send another later after its complete. I think the letter said something to that affect regarding summer school classes. I still don't have all my grades for this semester, but I went ahead and sent my UNC transcript to them.

Congratulations for the offer. I'm hoping to get one soon. Do you know whether they offer them as people decline, or whether they dole out offers on a weekly basis?
 
A week from today someone will be hearing from UNC!... Last year, people started coming off the waitlist on 5/16. Let's hope this same thread will continue this year.

Were you notified by email or did you have to check the status page?
 
I got in off of Wake's waitlist last Wednesday. Email and snail-mail arrived the same day. Wake was my top pick! Goodbye Texas (for a few years at least).

Does anyone know how UNC and ECU view a second MCAT score? Do they average the two, or take the highest scores from each section? Or do they look at both as a whole and take both scores into consideration. Anyone know? 😳 I kinda bombed the verbal section and was wondering if I should even study the sciences again or just try to improve verbal only. . .

Even if they consider the highest per section ( I don't know) they still see all scores. A 20 with a 15V 2B and 3P does not look good no matter what the case. My opinion is only take the mcat again if you can match or beat your original score. What I mean is match in science sections and improve in verbal thus raising your overall score. Since this is impossible to predict with any certainty I suggest you do not take the risk.

Nope, I'm still hoping to get in off the rejected list. I've heard it has more movement than the waitlist. 👍

BTW, I think I'm officially a Duke fan now.
 
UNC's is the most disorganized process I've encountered. I was disappointed when Mrs. Alston told me I'd been rejected, but I'm feeling better about it now. I'm not sure I want to go to a school that has this much trouble dealing out decisions. Every other school I applied to was very punctual about making decisions. UNC seems to feel as if they have no real deadline. The date they claimed they would send out decisions changed 5 times. Maybe it's a result of the rolling admissions process, but Wake didn't seem to have any problem with it. From talking to others, it's not just this year either. It's every year.

majority of the school are rolling admissions. Man, i hate to be bitchy about my situation cuz i really shouldn't. i wonder if the whole disappointing efficacy of the admissions will linger in their whole academic system. I suppose only the current students can tell us how efficient their school administration is at helping the students.
btw, does anyone have the 2007 matchlist of UNC? i couldn't find it on SDN. Help appreciated!👍

If I were accepted at two schools, one being UNC, the other being one that I liked equally (regardless of each one's individual pros and cons), my experience with admissions would definitely be a factor and would steer me away from UNC. From an applicant's standpoint, they are the public face of the school.

I would also like to second the inefficiency at UNC. In turns of my acceptance, they were very fast, but I still haven't received my financial aid package. They said they are "trying" to get them out before May 15. It's not like there's any guesswork and I'll be paying the whole thing in loans, but it would be nice to have it in my hands before I withdraw my other offers. The staff I've interacted with at UNC have been nice, but certainly nowhere near as customer service oriented as other places. I too am worried it will be a broader problem.

Holy crap, UNC is slow. I'm out of the country at the moment, but I've been trying to keep in touch with the admissions at UNC as much as possible. I finally got an email a couple of days ago notifying me that I'm on the waitlist. Man, that's slow, but at least I'm not a "declination" yet!
 
I hate seeing this thread on page 2 or 3 so I'm writing a message to all: Good luck, I'm pulling for all of us.

Oh and yes, UNC is very slow with letting you know stuff, but they can be (sniff).

You know tomorrow is the 15th. So for those of you already accepted and are not looking to go to UNC, tomorrow is the deadline for you to get your deposit back.... just looking out for your best interest! 😉
 
Waitlist at ECU (yet again)...
they gave till the 21 (may) for people to accept being on the waitlist. I guess we will not hear anything before that.
 
I'll be a Deac for four more years. Good luck to everyone still waiting. I started studying for the MCAT two days ago having given up hope. You may be in store for a surprise. 🙂

As a little encourage, I thought you should know that last year 3 SDN members got into UNC within 3 days of May 15. One other student got off the waitlist in mid-June. This is not counting any of the students who got in that are not on SDN. So, things are looking up! 🙄
