Actually, I thought I read somewhere on the GW secondary "Make sure your AMCAS is submitted and verified." Which I took to mean before you submit the secondary.Which schools let you submit the secondaries before you're verified. I know Columbia, GWU, and UC. Any others? Thanks.
Do they have any cutoff for outstate?
Something for you, Shemarty :
You were a TA for a Medical class, that's interesting! What was your job like ?
I'm pretty sure part of their initial screen includes MCAT and GPA cutoffs. What are your stats?
Still no word for me, but I didn't expect to hear anything this soon anyway.
It is an e-mail rejection, my GPA 3.38 (About same for BCPM), MCAT 33Q, Strong ECs, I Know my GPA is bit low, but...![]()
Do you guys know when schools start notifying people about interviews?
im sorry am i understanding you correctly? you got a rejection letter already? 🙁
I went to their pre-med open house this past spring, and they said that they received more applications this cycle than in previous cycles, and that the average MCAT accepted was higher as well. Maybe they're instituting cut-offs this year (maybe like 3.5 GPA and 30 MCAT). Sorry about the rejection - it sucks that it has to come so early in the cycle. 🙁It is an e-mail rejection, my GPA 3.38 (About same for BCPM), MCAT 33Q, Strong ECs, I Know my GPA is bit low, but...![]()
Michigan has some auto interview invites, and I don't know if any other schools have this too. For the rest of the schools, I'm going to guess Aug at the earliest?
The committee has to review your file once you're complete. This can take awhile, I imagine?
a 3.5 and 30 is a pretty lofty minimum for a secondary from a school whos average is about a 30 3.65....unless its only OOS????I went to their pre-med open house this past spring, and they said that they received more applications this cycle than in previous cycles, and that the average MCAT accepted was higher as well. After looking at his post history (only 3) it appears that he got an email rejection from VCU as an instate, which sucks :S
I am OOS, and the rejection came through email, saved me $80 if I have to look at the sunny side.![]()

Better than Georgetown's "If you're below these stats you'll probably / definitely be rejected but feel free to send us the secondary fee anyway" email
What were the stats in that email?

Your interest in Georgetown University School of Medicine is appreciated.
Our Secondary Application information is released to all applicants for whom our office has received a verified AMCAS Application to inform them of our general review criteria and admissions process. Your application has not been reviewed at this time. We ask that you consider the following information before submitting the Secondary Application and non-refundable application fee.
The Committee on Admissions carefully reviews all completed applications. At the same time, it must establish academic criteria to reduce the volume of seriously considered applications to a manageable number. The following information is provided to help you judge your competitiveness.
Those invited for interview generally present a mean science Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.6 and mean Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) scores of 10 for each subtest. Those considered competitive after interview have roughly the same academic credentials, stronger recommendations, and a more positive interview evaluation than those rejected after interview. Those accepted generally present a slightly higher mean science GPA and mean MCAT.
In 2007-2008, the School of Medicine received 11,236 AMCAS applications. Of the 6,887 completed applications, 1,107 individuals were interviewed to seat a class of 194 students. The Committee on Admissions strives for a diverse representation in the Class and reviews academic credentials, letters of recommendation, extracurricular activities, participation in health care experiences, and the interview evaluation when making its selections.
Please review both (a) the 2009 Guide to Application and (b) the Technical Standards for Admissions & Graduation prior to completing our Secondary Application.
Most of our students need credit-based educational loans from private lenders, or institutional loans. It is Georgetown's obligation to carefully manage these resources and to protect the University's access to all sources of support by maintaining an acceptable default rate. This protects both current and future borrowers. For this reason, Georgetown University School of Medicine requires all accepted students to submit a current credit report as a prerequisite for matriculation. Accepted students who do not meet established criteria with regard to their credit record (described in the Policies and Procedures) will be counseled, may not be eligible for Georgetown institutional aid, and, under some circumstances, may be required to defer their matriculation for one year to improve their credit rating.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Please use the links to navigate your way through the secondary application. You may save your application at anytime by clicking on "save application." Once you complete all the links, click on "Preview" to review your application and print out a copy for your records.
Letters of Recommendation are handled ONLY through the AMCAS Letters of Recommendation Service as part of the AMCAS application.
When you are ready to submit your application, use the "Certify" link to submit your application to the Office of Admissions. Once you certify, you may not make any changes to your application.
We also invite you to complete the survey to provide feedback on the secondary application. Please be assured that your comments will be kept confidential and will not affect your evaluation.
We are delighted that you are considering Georgetown University School of Medicine. Be assured that we will give your completed application personal attention should you apply.
Sincerely,
Office of Admissions
Georgetown University School of Medicine
How are you guys starting on secondaries when you don't even know which schools will be sending you secondaries? Are you just signing up on their secondary websites without any notification from the school via email?
I guess my question boils down to out of the schools you have applied to, which secondaries can you start on right away.
Note: My amcas has not been verified yet..
It's actually not an email, but, rather, on the front page of their secondary application.
Thank you, I didnt have access to the secondary (not verified) so that was new to me!
Bump 😀Am I considering complete if I sent a packet of letters of rec., but then send in the last letter maybe a few weeks later? I just don't want to be considered late by waiting for a physician I shadowed to write a letter cuase I know he's busy and what not.
Still no BU.
I wonder how they are sending them out. Some people w/out a verified AMCAS have received it, but then some with a verified one have not 😕
Bump 😀
How did you hear about UVM COM?
What Made You Decide to Apply to UVM COM?
There is also a place for additional info. Not sure of the character limit on the questions b/c i'm having issues with the application.

are you a vermont resident?
Anybody else feel like their secondary essays sound like a load of BS? When I sat down to write some essays today, I felt really convinced by the themes and main points I was using. I even tried to inject some anecdotal evidence to support the claims that I make in them. Even so, I feel like my essays are not that great and won't be very "convincing" to admissions committees? Anyone have any advice?
Chad... I feel the same way. I dont' have any magical cures though... but red bull seems to help me out, if only so I can stay up longer working on them.
Just got Baylor's Secondary...
it MAKES you write about overcoming adversity.. aah
