I haven't posted before, but my status page also says decision letter sent on January 20th. I really hope that it is an acceptance. I haven't received anything in the mail yet. I'm going crazy just waiting for the mail to come tomorrow. Anyway, good luck everyone.

Damn it, they did send out a wave of acceptances. I guess for us Oct people who missed this one we pretty much suck. 🙁

Yea man I am feeling it too. The more people that post about their letters, the more I lose hope.

are the peeps with status updates all October interviewees?

Can everybody who got accepted post in the acceptance thread? Interview date + acceptance date. Generate more data for next year 🙂

Good luck to those who are still waiting!!!

Yeah it sucks. It could be worse, I'm a September interviewee who hasn't heard..I super suck🙁

Where is the acceptance thread?😕

Are there any late November / early December people who have heard???

My friend, who also interviewed in early Dec, said that she was told she would hear in "several weeks". So maybe another batch in several weeks. I guess that makes sense, because this batch seems very small.

Hey everyone, I haven't posted here before but I've been following this thread for a little while. Anyways I'm an October 3rd interviewee who doesn't have a status update either, so I'll join the "apparently, we're not cool enough" club. Or maybe they looked at my GPA and said "holy crap did we actually interview this guy???" 🙂

Anywhoo don't get too depressed, especially if you have other acceptances!

I checked the mail today and still no letter. I guess I have to wait till monday to see what it says.

Ugh, is anyone else in the position of not having been rejected yet but still no news about interviews? When should I finally give up hope here?

No one has been rejected pre-interview and post-secondary yet, so there are tons of people in your and my position. Just ride the waves and let things run their course--you've finished your part in this application process for now! :luck:

ucla is notoriously slow. I had given up hope and I woke up to an invite friday. they interview till april i think.

I'm just going to stop thinking about a UCLA invite because it's driving me crazy. Crazy enough that I found myself wandering around CHS on Thurs. contemplating whether to stop by the admissions office.

When I stopped waiting and hoping for a secondary, next thing I knew, I had an invite to fill one out. Who knows, maybe I'll get surprised like last time. :luck: to everyone still waiting.

As an aside, someone had posted in their MDapps that they had been rejected post-secondary from UCLA.

Hey, does anyone know why this batch from several days ago was so small?

I thought it would be at least as big, and much bigger, as the batch in December.

The people on SDN are not an accurate sample of the applicant population as a whole, so:

1. You have a lot of high achievers around here who were already accepted in the "recruiting batch" back in December.

2. There are probably a good number of people who were accepted in the "larger" batch who are not on SDN or MDapps, making it seem smaller than the first batch.

Part of my lab is in CHS, so everytime I am near by, I always stop by... I went to lab on Saturday and found myself transfixed in front of the admissions office... I wanted to go in, but it was locked🙄

So they've only rejected people POST interview and not pre? That's odd...

Quite the opposite, Tiare, there have been preinterview rejections, but no post interview rejections as of yet reported on SDN... Why, do you know something that the rest of us do not?

No, it's just that I misunderstood something that I read on this forum. Believe me, I know NOTHING. Like whoa.

So what do you think of people who interviewed early but haven't received a letter yet. Is that more than likely a rejection?

Could be hold/post interview waitlist till they are done with interviews. I dont think they are doing postinterview rejections yet.
Has anyone that interviewed in December been accepted yet? I just wanted to see where they were in reviewing apps. Thx

I interviewed mid-December and haven't heard anything yet. I'm pretty sure they told us end of January - beginning of February when I was there...of course I wish it were sooner...all this application cycle waiting is driving me nuts.

I interviewed early December and also haven't heard anything. I called recently, and was told that they have rolling admissions around the 15th of every month. So, if we didn't hear back last time, we probably have to wait until mid February to possibly hear something.

everyone who received an interview at UCLA got an email notification correct? Because, I have not received an interview (i am post-secondary though), and I just checked my status and it says "final decision letter sent." This is bad, right? Sounds like a rejection to me.

I also interviewed early December 🙂 I called and was told my app was still in committee. Not sure what that means, but it sounds like they haven't finished reviewing it.

I don't know if anyone interviewing in December or January has received an acceptance?

Yea, I interviewed recently and I have no status under "final decision letter." Sounds like a rejection.

I called the admissions office today and the lady said interviews are only given through email, so Hmmmmm.... I guess what the decision is going to be?.... Anyone else in this hopeless boat of sorrow?

ouch, just checked, me too 🙁

My prayers have been answered. I just got the letter and I'm accepted!😀 I was sooo nervous, but now I'm relieved. Good luck everyone.🙂

God is GREAT!

Ah yes, final decision sent status. Yaaaaay rejection. Congrats to all of you!

So what do you think of people who interviewed early but haven't received a letter yet. Is that more than likely a rejection?

A lot of us in that boat (~75% statistically speaking). Some of us will go on a waitlist which is more than likely a rejection list because their waitlist barely moves. I have serious doubts about an acceptance given that they have gone through 2 cycles of acceptances and still passed us over.

God must hate me then...

I just checked my status..It doesnt say anything, does that mean im still in the running for an invite??

I know this is only anecdotal, but hey this is SDN. The waitlist does move... someone I know got in off waitlist (c/o 2010) in july after he was all set to go elsewhere. He ended up going to UCLA.

They are still handing out invites, so it must be better than final decision letter sent. Beware the decision letter pre-interview...

Mine didn't say anything and I thought I was sitting pretty. Today I received my rejection letter that was dated today but postmarked for the 24th. Today they changed my status to say "letter sent" even though the bastards already sent it.

One more California school bites the dust...

Same here, just checked my mail and got the rejection letter. Very, very disappointed.

O I think you misunderstood me. I said it sounded like a rejection for the op, not for me. I think UCLA will take me =D.

Yes, but my anger spurred a cleaning-fest and I found $100! So screw UCLA

are these pre-interview rejections?

In previous years, and presumably this year as well, but clearly dont know for sure, the admissions committee has subcommittees and so an applicant has to wait for his or her subcommittee to submit its recommendations before your final decision is made. It appears that the first group of acceptees are some kind of the super duper stars, and that the group that was just accepted represents the actions of the first subcommittee which is just the most efficient one. Over the next three to four weeks, more students should be getting acceptances as their subcommittee meets and makes recommendations. It is definitely disappointing to be evaluated by a slow subcommittee and exciting to be evaluated by an efficient one, but there is not much else to read into it. Again, I don't have any privileged knowledge of things changing or staying the same this year compared to previous years, but that is how it has been in the past.
My main point for those of you who have been interviewed and haven't heard anything yet is that you should not give up on an acceptance to UCLA. You more than likely have not been passed over even if you had an early interview. Your subcommittee probably has not given out its recommendations yet.
And good luck to you all. Medicine is a challenging profession and it is heartening to read how committed, eager and bright you all are.

Has anybody with a mid November interview heard anything in terms of decisions? I interviewed Nov. 10-15th (don't remember exactly when) and as of now I don't have a status update.

Thank you for injecting a note of temperance 👍
