Hell yes! I turned in my UCSD secondary about 4-5 days ago (already 3 weeks past their secondary deadline) and I got an email today saying they want to interview me. Awesome.

Anybody else heading out to La Jolla on december 4th? Hopefully I get a student host..

So I messed up the question above, what I really meant was that did anyone get rejected pre-INTERVIEW invite or are they just putting everyone (who they aren't invited to interview) on hold?

WOW! congrats! but if you don't mind me asking, what were your numbers? or was your autobiography just that awesome?

It's either hold or interview...so yes, there are no rejections post secondary, pre-interview.

we (MS1s) will be in mini-block so it should be a good time.

Im IN! Wow it was a long journey but well worth it!

Now I can go party for 10 months 😀😀😀😀😀

Gluck to the rest of you guys who are waiting on decisions or going to interview, UCSD is awesome!
 
Looks like I'm out if shemarty's already gotten a call...I guess I'll ring up the admissions office on Monday to confirm.

But congrats to those that got in 🙂
 
Major, major congratulations to those of you who got in! Let me know if you have any questions about UCSD or San Diego in general and I would love to talk about it! (That goes for everyone here 🙂 )
 
I just added UCSD on my AMCAS the other day (OOS)... Did I just waste 30 bucks?
 
Just got this e-mail from UCSD:

"Your application has been reviewed once by our admissions committee - unfortunately, the committee is not offering you a secondary application at this time. ALL applications will undergo another review in late November/early December and more applicants may be invited to submit secondary applications at that time."

It looks like my 32 MCAT may be holding me back at this school. It's so competitive!

Idk man, 3.93/30 and i got a secondary. Maybe it was something else?

Also I called today--my app goes to committee tonight for a decision /scared

When was your application complete?
 
Does you app. go to the committee for a decision on an acceptance or an interview?
 
Despite the interview going awkwardly awry and not getting a phone call from the admissions office, I GOT IN!

I just called them today and they're getting ready to send out official letters in the next couple of days. I'm surprised and amazed, but the turns my whole week around!

congratulations!! haha if you are who I think you are, I remember talking to you after that interview before lunch. I'm glad everything worked out!

Same here man!! Well I thought my interview went awesome, but I had a 30 balanced MCAT and 3.93 GPA, I never thought Id get in to such am amazing med school in cali!

Dont lose hope for lowish MCAT people!
 
Hold.. but at least they push the process along relatively fast.

Hmmmm so we have our first final exam that day =] It's from 9-11am. If I'm around before or after, I will certainly poke my head in and say hello to you all!

After exams, we usually celebrate by going to the Round Table Pizza on campus for pizza and beer, so I may be a bit... occupied during your lunchtime, but I'll stop by if I can! PM me your identity if you want 🙂

Aw man, 2 very very great applicants! Chances are still decent off the waitlist. But it seems like both of you have options that you're happy about 🙂

This is not a good success rate for people who have stayed with me - 1/3 acceptances so far =p But I haven't heard from two other students I hosted.

got email 2day saying im on interview hold...worst news i have gotten this whole cycle...bitches🙁
 
I just came back from the interview there today. It was a very very pleasant experience I must say. As of right now, I am 99.99999% sure that if I get accepted, I'll come.

I am sitting at the San Diego airport right now waiting for my flight, so I thought I'll share with you guys my experience today.

The day before the interview-
I stayed with a student host. They were both very helpful and answered all the questions I had about the school and student life. We made snow cones and watched football on TV. It was great.

INTERVIEW DAY (RAIN)
The staffs there were all extremely nice. The facilities are great, and the students are very energetic and happy even though they have finals next week.

The other interviewees were all very nice too. In the beginning, we were pretty quiet, but I got to know a couple of them. (If you were there today, I was the only person carrying a backpack.)

Both my interviewers were awesome. They really emphasize that they are not there to grill students. We talked about my research, my disc jockeying hobby and my interest in apple computers =).

After the interview, we had lunch with a couple of medical students. They were very helpful and walked us to the different part of the UCSD campus.

Towards the end, the director of admissions and the director of student life gave us a presentation about when the applicants will find out about their decisions as well as the wide variety of events UCSD offers to its medical students.

That basically wraps up my day. Now, I am crossing my fingers and hoping that I'll get a phone call in the near future.

duuuuuuude....WHAT THE F*CK! totally and utterly speechless. only because i kno ur goin 2 harvard/hopkins/washu/ucsf, i think this is a learning experience for all those a-holes who think URM + goodstat = auto accept

but dayum...im def not gettin into a UC 🙁
 
Hey to all of those who interviewed at UCSD today, I'm the guy that gave the lunch tour. I just wanted to say that I am sure you guys all did great, and I wish you all the best of luck throughout this process. feel free to PM me if you have questions.
 
has anyone actually come off of pre-interview hold to get an interview?
 
i wouldn't mind being the first... although i'm guessing they won't do any interviews off of pre-interview hold people until some of their acceptances withdraw?
 
So, who else is gonna be there tomorrow?
