I had my interview in the middle of october and still waiting. Anybody heard anything from NJMS post-interview ?.

Has anyone heard anything post interview? I interviewed in early November and haven't heard a thing, and now I am getting nervous. Has anyone gotten rejected or waitlisted?

Well... I interviewed early October and i'm still waiting. I had asked admissions at 10 weeks post-interview what was going on and they told me I'd be reviewed "hopefully in a couple weeks." It's been about 4 weeks since then and still haven't heard anything.

It's crazy how delayed things are this year... I'm praying for that phone call:xf:

interviewed mid october. Still waiting. I called them and they said adcom is reviewing the files from october period right now. As elan said, I'm praying and carrying my cellphone everywhere I go. Hope we all get a good news before 2009

I am nervously waiting for some good news too! Who did you interview with? Did you have a student interview?

It is 6 weeks since my interview tomorrow and I was hoping for some news over the next couple weeks but after reading these posts I guess I shouldn't be. I interviewed with Dr. Budnick and I did have a student interview, which I really liked. I really would like to know when they will be getting to my application but I don't want to be a pain. Any recent acceptances/rejections or any other news? If so, when did you interview?

No student interview. Did you have one ?. How many students were there for interview on your interview day ?. Are you guys interviewing (or interviewed already) at RWJMS too ?. I'm still complete with them.

There were about 5-6 people there when I interviewed and I was the only one who received a student interview even though everyone else said they requested one. I haven't heard anything officially from RWJ, but the woman told me on the phone that they were going to interview me....but that was early in Dec, and I haven't been contacted by email yet :-(

Well, I just called NJMS and they told me over the phone that they waitlisted me and that they mailed the decision almost 2 weeks ago which I still haven't gotten yet.

Oh man. Now I'm really worried. Medgrl30, which day did you have your interview and what time ?. Also have you gotten any other interviews or acceptances yet ?. Anyway goodluck to all of us.

i didn't have a student interview. there were very few students during my interview day - just the two that gave my tour. i haven't heard anything from RWJ at all. just the complete email a long time ago

no student interview.

anyone else still waiting to hear from an interview in early nov? I'm home for the holidays so I can't check my snail mail but I'm hoping for that phone call.
Good luck to you all!

congrats on your acceptance at NJMS especially on the christmas day. Are you going to attend at NJMS or you have a top choice ?. Good luck.

I was told by a secretary at NJMS that last year no one on the waitlist got in. Does anyone know if this is true? Also, does anyone know which other schools do accept their waitlist candidates?

i have a hard time making choices, i dont have a top choice cuz i'm unsure of what each school is like. i spend weekends on each campus that i have an interview (if possible) to get a feel of what it's like being a student at each school. at the end of interview season i'm going to weigh the benefits/drawbacks of each experience and consider each school's cost.

so in short, for both of your questions, i'm not sure?

i haven't heard a peep from RWJ either...oh well

what are everyone's impressions of the 'campus'? any concerns about housing, quality of life etc? the only students i met on interview day were the tour guides, so i don't feel like i got much of an idea of what anything is like at NJMS...

I doubt anyone got in off waitlist last year, because the class was overbooked. Class of 2012 is ~190 when they usually shoot for 160-170.

Hey congrats on getting into NJMS. When did you have your interview at NJMS and when did you hear about the acceptance ?.

Why do they do it ?. May be they thought that students would drop out of the acceptance list. Oh well...those 20 or so students were really lucky. By the way cpants, how is school ?. This is your 1st year...right?. Do you commute or live at the dorm ?.

i interviewed on 10/13, accepted 11/24. i'd like to hear what cpants has to say myself...

Did anyone who interviewed in November get in? I just got invited to interview at RWJ, did anyone else?

congrats! when were you complete at RWJ? I'm still waiting to hear from them.

I was complete with RWJ mid october since the premed committee at my school took a month to send my letter. I saw on a previous thread from last year that RWJ waitlists January interviews...does anyone know if this is true?

Ya congrats. Still waiting on RWJMS for an invite.

School is awesome, I couldn't be happier. Professors and fellow students are great. The clinical experience is fantastic. I'm a 2nd year. Commute this year, dorm last year. I highly recommend commuting. The dorm gets pretty old pretty fast. There are tons of great towns to live in less than 30min from school.

Good luck to you all.

interviewed 11/18 and still no word.

I was waitlisted last year...this year my interviewer did not even show up (stuck in a meeting. it happens). I was supposed to interview with Dr. Ponzio but ended up being taken up to dr. Sapru's office on the fourth floor and he did the interview there. He didn't even have time to look over my file and I'm kinda wondering if the committee will know about this and take it into account. :scared:

The interview went well though. I just hope he didnt change his mind about me after looking over my file.

I was waitlisted 12/31 after interviewing the first week in November.

Not essential, but very convenient. If you don't have a car they will schedule all of your preceptorships at UH or somewhere accessible by public transportation. It's great to have a car because it's the easiest way to get out of newark to do some shopping, chill out, etc. Also it's the easiest way to commute to class/preceptors. Another thing to keep in mind is that Newark has tons of public transportation, but you probably won't want to use it at night.

Hey guys, I was just browsing this page and I figured I'd answer the waitlist question.

I was an applicant at NJMS last year and I ended up being waitlisted. Dr. H told me personally that I was at the top of the list, but I did not get in. Afterwards it was confirmed by admissions that nobody got in off the waitlist for the class of 2012. Apparently more people than expected accepted their invites.

On the bright side, I was given an invite to interview immediately after submitting my app this year (submitted in mid september, reallly late!) and was given the lovely call from Dr. H on 11/2 at 10:15 PM (yes thats accurate timing, you think I'd forget a call like that?).

So my advice to anyone waitlisted this year is to keep your spirits up, but dont do anything rash like going to DO or Carribean. NJMS will def take care of you next year, if not this year.

Glad to hear at least someone got some success. I'm so disappointed with this school its not even funny. Why did they even bother interviewing me again if they were just gonna put my on the waitlist and cite my grades as the problem its not like theyre gonna change. 😡

sorry to hear that Phenol. How did you find out your grades were the problem? Did you call and ask?

Last year when i was waitlisted i spoke to dr. H and was told that the committee waitlisted me because i didnt have clinical exposure...so ive spent the past year volunteering most every day of the week and working at a lab testing company from 6am-2pm (its hell).

this year i got interviewed and my interviewer said my grades were ok. i ended up getting waitlisted and immediately emailed dr. H to find out why. and i received an ambigious response saying that the "process is competitive" and that "my gpa could be stronger". Well, why didn't he tell me this last year? Why didnt my interviewer bring it up? It seems like theyre just nitpicking my application and it seems like i got the short end of hte stick since my interviewer didnt even show up!!!!

I'm sorry but im using this space to vent since i really think i deserve to go to this school since ive put in so much effort in good faith following dr. H's advice only to be disappointed. I plan on calling tomorrow and getting some straight answers.

Yes it is. I have one upcoming interview this month. By the way, do you have other acceptances or invites ?. How about from RWJ ?.

Just got the letter. Waitlisted. I thought my interview went well. Phenol..did u just call the admissions office and ask why you were waitlisted?

No I emailed Dr. H directly. He cited my GPA as the problem but last year he said my GPA was fine and neither of my interviewers brought it up as a potential problem. I'd like to think that they wouldn't have bothered to interview me again if they didnt think I could handle the work so I'm really left wondering what the hell is really going on behind the scenes.

For now I just have other invites, and RWJ is silent😕.

Does anyone think that maybe they're waitlisting many more people this year so that they don't over accept this year and will actually accept people off the waitlist this year?

btw...they told me that my letter was mailed on the Dec 18, but wasn't postmarked until after new years and was mailed from somewhere near the shore...weird right?

I would be skeptical of that. For the past few years NJMS has not touched its waitlist. I'm sure Dr. H would have mentioned something in his correspondence with me to the effect of "dont worry you might get off the waitlist" if he thought it was gonna happen.

Ultimately, I will have my fingers crossed but I'm not expecting much. Sorry if I seem bitter. 🙄

I met with Dr. H during the summer and was invited for my interview as soon as my LOR was received. Now I just have to hope that my other interviews go well....has anyone interviewed at RWJ?

i was accepted into RWJ in the end of Nov (interview 11/20) and waitlisted at NJMed (interview 10/28, waitlist 12/28). I preferred RWJ over NJMed anyway, but I thought the interview went really well so I was a bit surprised. oh well not complaining about anything with an accept to RWJ!!!!
