I know there are probably more applicants this year, but I don't think there is any need to worry. I didn't submit my TMDSAS application until July 10th... nothing was mailed until July 25th. I had interview invitations to San Antonio and Baylor first week of August for September, and Houston invitation in September for October. There is no need to worry.
Best of luck to all! And if you have any questions, feel free to PM me and I will try my best answer (in a timely manner).
Are you applying out-of-state as well? Looks like your g.p.a will hurt your chances of getting into Texas d-schools. I had almost the exact same gpa and a little higher DAT (20/21/17) and got only 1 interview (baylor) last year. I would recommend applying to a bunch of schools.
I went to two interviews last cycle, Baylor and Houston. My gpa doesnt look good at first glance because I failed outta school five years ago. Since then I've taken about 150 hrs of classes with a 3.5 gpa. Plus I have spent alotta time in Dental Labs and Offices, so I'm hoping this year is my year since I've already turned my app in as opposed to October of last year.
Hey Vicarbo, is your family in Texas? If you are living in Nashville, how are you getting around the 90% resident rule? Your scores are great, but some of the school didn't even take out of state people in previous years. Either way, good luck.
Also, 500 apps already being sent out seems pretty high this early. Baylor reported a total of 626 apps in 2005 and 746 apps in 2006. TMDSAS reported 800ish total for 2006 apps. Is there really that many new people? I hope not considering my 18 DAT. haha!
I go to school at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, but I'm from Dallas and my family still lives there.
Quick question: Does TMDSAS verify DAT scores- I sent them to the individual schools, but on their page there is a spot for the date DAT scores were received - just like the LOE and transcripts.
I called both the TMDSAS and ADA, and they both told me that ADA sends the schools the DAT scores via computer file.
Oh, cool. Well, then you are covered. You should have no problems given your scores and etc...
I had a similar question last week. I called both the TMDSAS and ADA, and they both told me that ADA sends the schools the DAT scores via computer file. The school then enters this into the their system. The last step at TMDSAS, before they send out the apps, is to pull the DAT score from the school's computer system and posts them on the file. The lady at TMDSAS told me they only need the score from one school to post it on your TMDSAS file. Therefore, sending it to all the schools isn't needed according to her.
Tmdsas did send out the first batch, I recieved email conformation👍
Yesterday at 5

yea, i called them just now...she said that probably next week (they send out once a week) she said there a lot of ppl before me😡...didn't ask how many though...so hopefully, next wednesday or thursday

They won't send the App until they get the DAT score, right?
I called about this same subject two weeks ago. I was told they pull a batch of DAT scores from each school's system each week. The last step, before they send the apps, is apply the score to the file. So without the DAT score the file is not sent.

Unless things have changed since last year, that is not true. My app was submitted and I even had an interview date set prior to taking the DAT.
they look at your other things... and they will see when you are planning to take DAT...but with so many competitive applicants this year, they are talking about waiting untill they have a complete file on you to start reviewing it.
I recieved an e-mail from baylor saying they've got about 300 applications in so far, and the earliest you could possibly hear back from them is in late july. I'm sure this about average for all the schools in texas.
hey i was wondering..i know this is a cheap ass comment..but hey..i gotta knwo this..basically im a tx resident whose a mexican/UT biochem honors major with a 3.7 and a 19 AA..and with a **** load of extracirriculars..dental experience..3 yrs of research with a pub blah blah blah...i was wondering does that mean im automatically in b/c my scores are high for URM? b/c i was thinkin bout retaking the dat b/c i only studied 2.5 weeks for it?
like i thought schools like SA have to take a certain numbers of URMs every yr so if ur numbers are high even for a regular applicant then you can get in easily right?
