Well! If you college didn't do + or - grading then an A is A and a B is B. Right?

What about schools that don't do + or -? Before transferring I attended a college that only gave letter grades out and no + or -. Will this hurt my GPA when applying?

Depends on the grade - If you're getting a B or A that was supposed to be a B- or A-, then it helps your GPA. If you're getting a C or a B that was supposed to be a C+ or a B+, then it hurts your GPA.

Isn't it on a conventional 4.0 scale? A=4.0, A-=3.7, B+=3.3, etc. That way it seems like they are differentiating grades to prevent from the schools that give A>90, B=80-89, etc. They don't account for A+'s on AACOMAS so I didn't get those factored into my AACOMAS GPA, which ended up putting me a little lower than what I graduated with, but it's standard among all the applicants so that's fine with me.
I mean in terms of comparing to ppl from schools w/o a +/- grading system.

How have you resolved this problem?

I'm a canadian transfer student and I'm in the same boat; my year of organic chem at u of t is only considered 6 semester hours here but it has a lab component. So, I'm pondering whether I should take another quarter of organic chem.

I just got verified by aacomas, and i can't find the calculated GPA. Where is it?

This is how I did it. I went to AACOMAS and logged onto my page. Then you have a list of all the colleges you applied to...all the way to the right is a blue "View." Click on that and you see what the colleges see. It is pretty simple from there.

That's odd. When I open up my pdf file, it is on page 1. There is a "GPA and Hours by Year." Maybe something is jacked up...I was verified in July. So maybe something is missing. Sorry.

I didn't want to start a new thread and I have a related question (hope you don't mind OP!)

Do certificates of appreciation count for anything?

thanks!

Hi, how long does it take for primary app to be verified after AACOMAS receives all documents?

Hi guys

I got a quick question will AACOMAS replaces this:

UW- General chem 142, 5 quarter hours, 152 5 credit hours and 162 5 quarter hours for

UNR: general chem 1 4 semester hours, general chem 2 4 semester hours?

I got like a 3.0, 2.9 and a 2.6 at UW now for unr i had 4.0 for both. Thanks for the help.

Do u think it would be too late to start an application now?

Has anyone come across this issue. I took a physics class at my uni it was worth 4 cr then did a retake at a different college same class even the same prefix and course number but was worth 3cr. I have heard that this is okay to be qualified as a retake even tho the credit hrs differ . has anyone been in the same situation ?

With respect to interfolio;

Does the professor have to mail the LOR from the University directly?

Can the professors do it virtually?

And Obviously once the letters are in and I apply to say every single DO program many times, the letters will be there and I won't need to hound them over other than this one time.

When AACOMA is verifying the transcripts, I have a confusing and long transcript, but to make the story short, I applied classes that according to the rules and guidelines for AACOMA.

Question is, are they just basically seeing what you put down match with whats on the transcript for example the grade, letter, and credit? or do they also add classes that they think should be added or deleted??

Yes, they can submit them virtually via Interfolio. There should be a set of instructions for that on their site.

Thank you! I'm trying to make this process of getting letters as easy as possible for the professors. I hate it, seriously its a hassle, One letter should be enough, I gotta risk talk to a professor who may not give me a stellar review because those 2 are the only ones I can can get.

I'm a grown man, with responsibilities of daily life, I cant afford to work in a lab for free and ass kiss professors, if I do that who's going to pay my rent? Some students actually have bills, rent and can't ass kiss and go home to mommy and daddy at the end of the day.

When exactly do schools start reviewing applications? If I recall correctly, the app opens up May 1, you can't submit till June 1, is that right? So when do they *actually* start looking at it?

I just want to know if I should take a certain class next spring (on an already loaded schedule) or just save it for the summer if I can get a grade in before schools start looking for it (I know you can update your profile, but I'd like the grade to be there when the first review my file)

Thanks, sorry for the simple question.

For this cycle, June 1 was when people can submit their primaries for verification. However, they are not released to school until I think June 23rd. Afterward, secondaries start going out. If you really want that grade in when they review your file, you might want to take the class in the spring.
