any accepted students know approx. how long it takes between the time your status changes to your application being in the committee to a final decision being made?

Hi,
This is my first post, but I was compelled to say something because I also had my status changed to "A decision has been reached and sent to your preferred address." I called Drexel and they said that half of the decisions from this round went in the mail Tuesday and half on Wednesday. My status change was also accompanied by an AMCAS email notifying me of an upcoming background check request from Certiphi, Inc. I called AMCAS to ask if this was indicative of a conditional acceptance and they said most likely. However it is still possible, though unlikely, for schools to request background checks on students put on the waitlist (even though the AMCAS website says this does not occur until May). The odds are in our favor, but I am not popping bottles yet.

Has anyone that has already been accepted observed the same series of events: a status change to "Final Decision" and an AMCAS background check email? No one else that was accepted ever mentioned the background check preceeding notification of acceptance in any other posts. If someone knows, please tell us because this is driving me insane. Thanks.

Background checks started being done in January 1st so if someone was accepted in November they wouldn't get the background check email till after Jan 1 so I think thats why we haven't seen that correlation yet

- based on what people have said so far, it seems unclear whether any decision takes longer than the other

- it looks like people who interviewed towards october/november wind up waiting longer than the 8 weeks, (someone else said they called the admissions office and was told that they hadn't met in some time because of the holidays)..

- also, i posted earlier that my decision in '08 took much longer than 8 weeks -- i was told that my interviewer had been away so they hadn't been able to make a decision on me..

so i still haven't received an email from cetriphi, anyone know how long it takes after AMCAS email to get the cetriphi email?
 
Hi all...i checked this morning and i was told that final decision has been reached and that I should receive notification via snail mail. However, I did not get an email from AMCAS regarding background checks. Does this mean that I am not accepted at this time?

Did you call them and ask or you just found out online?
 
I just checked online this morning...i haven't called them.
 
I interviewed in Nov and got a letter in the mail this week saying I'm waitlisted. Does this mean I have to wait until July to find out anything more?
 
I just called the office and I was told that my decision was made during last night's meeting...therefore, the letter wont be sent until next Tuesday. I was also told that nothing has been produced since that meeting and wont be until next week. For those of you guys who have received that AMCAS background email, when did you receive...like what day of the week and how much after your status changed online?

Does this always proceed an acceptance or waitlist? Generally? If you havent gotten one is that a bad indication? I have asked this question before and never seem to get a clear answer. Any info would be helpfull!
 
I got 3 emails for a background check on Jan 5. I am waitlisted at 2 schools and accepted at one.

I got accepted at 2 schools and waitlisted at 2 other schools, but I got one email for a background check? 😕

i got the email and had the status change on the 20th

I didn't get the background check email until at least 3 weeks after my acceptance letter, so I wouldn't worry.
 
hey guys... i have my first interview scheduled on 2/16 and wanted to see what i should expect from the interview day besides the 15-20min faculty interview, the student interview, the lunch break, campus tour and essay question.

are there things that really stood out for people on the interview day (positive or negative)?
 
I received my background check email a day after I received my acceptance letter in the mail.
 
Just received my acceptance letter! It was dated the 19th. Psyched as this was my first acceptance.
 
Oh no, I had a final decision made notice on my account as well but no background check email! I really hope I was accepted!!!!! and the background check email is late!!!!!
 
Do any current student know anything about Alden Park apartments? Do people seem to like them?👍
 
I also received an acceptance letter dated January 19th! This is my first acceptance so I am ecstatic. I guess the background check email does correlate with a favorable decision from the admissions committee after all!

yup!! if you check the AMCAS website for info on background checks, thats what it says! Acceptances and waitlisters will get background check emails -- but the info there says that waitlisters wont get the background check email til may or something (but some people here have said that they got bg check emails for places they've been wait listed at, so maybe may is wrong)

.. this waiting game is intense! first we have to wait for a decision to be made, then for snail mail to come in, and then hope for a background check email because that's means a possible acceptance! so much :xf::xf: and waiting anxiously..:scared:

Congrats Sun Dog! It's a great feeling, isn't it? Like everything you've worked towards is starting to come together, and there's light at the end of the tunnel.

Lot's of first acceptances from Drexel, it seems. I really like the way BerkReviewTeach put it in another thread:

ahhh ok soo im just wondering if anyone had a similar experience as me!!! i was on the shuttle back from hannamenn after my interview and there happened to be 4th year med students who were talking to me. one started talking to me about stands and his roommate and i said i've never done one and would probably throw up if i did! now i'm nervous because the asked my name and the name of the student i was with and i'm afraid they were strategically placed on the bus and now im not gonna get in because i had a convo with him about kegs! am i just being paranoid??

Yes. :laugh: Chill out. :scared:

Your interview was over when you left Hahnemann. No school would go through that much trouble just to screen peon applicants. Plus, it sounds like they brought it it up anyway...that would be entrapment. 🙄

same happened to me. two 4th year students talked to me on my way back from hahnemann and they did ask my name as well. however, i doubt they were "strategically placed on the bus". what happens to those applicants who don't have to travel to hahnemann? does drexel send students to bathrooms and other common areas to catch those applicants off-guard?

During my interview, I went to the bathroom, and YES I did lock my stall door. But some med student somehow opened my stall door and walked in on me... awkward! Was that staged? lol
 
Why would they care about that answer anyway. Med students are people too.
 
waitlisted. meh i thought it was rejection for sure because i didnt get the criminal background check. o well.
