Interviewed early March, still waiting. Waiting is killing me.

I would certainly update them with your new MCAT. I interviewed back in September and was waitlisted in October. I have continued to update them on what I am doing this year (you just send updates to the general email, i think it's medadmit or something like that, there are three different ones if I remember correctly and they all should get your update there).

Anyways, did anyone get some sort of information on how the waitlist actually works. It's "ranked" in some way but we don't know and we can't find out right? Or is it more "organic and fluid" and they sort of pull people off based on the person that turns down a seat and or how they'd like the round out their class. I think it would be the former but I interviewed so long ago and can't really recall.

I was on Feb 14th, and they said I'd hear last Friday or Monday, but no change in status. I called them again today but they said I would hear in the next two weeks...

Hopefully they'll just sit down and finish all of the remaining interviewees in one batch. Wishful thinking. Good luck to ya!

Thanks for the info. I also interviewed in late September and was waitlisted in Feb. The office refuses to answer how their waitlist works. Good luck!
 
So how's this.....
I received a "Final decision" status a few weeks ago. Was excited that I wouldn't be on another waiting list. Waited and waited for the letter. Then my status changed to "under review" then to "a decision" and wait list letter in the mail today. I interviewed 2/2.
 
Interviewed- February 2nd
Status Change- May May2ndish
Letter- May 8th

Waitlisted


Anyone know how much movement there is on the wait list?

Been waitlisted here for quite some time. Holding an acceptance elsewhere but am really hoping for a phone call from the OA-- home for me is Philadelphia and Drexel is an excellent school.

I have a question: Does Drexel allow us the opportunity for a third-year elective rotation, or will we have to do all electives in 4th year?
 
Does anyone know if they're still handing out preliminary acceptances? I interviewed back on 3/11 and haven't heard anything yet. Just wondering if I can keep hope alive for something more than a waitlist spot.
 
My friend is an M2 at Drexel, and he interviewed in January and got a straight acceptance in June...so keep the hope alive!

I also just withdrew, so hopefully you'll get my spot 🙂
 
does anyone know when we find out about the scholarships? I turned in the online scholarship app in early April and still haven't heard back...and tomorrow's May 15th haha....=/

they emailed me that my scholarship app has been received and i should get an email from them within 2-3 wks advising to check my award online

5/17 Update: My status changed to "A decision has been reached..."

So now I'm getting waitlisted after they already had a final decision? I'll never understand this process.

dude, think about this! A final decision could have been a rejection or an acceptance...what if they decided to reject you at first (reason for a final decision..), and then they decide to go against that or putting you on a waitinglist (a decision..). So, which outcome would you prefer????

I got "a decision", and waitlisted.

I'm not really sure I'd say "a bunch," but as we get closer to June you'll probably start to see a little movement. Also, remember that not everyone is on SDN, so no movement here doesn't mean no movement at all.
 
I was told that the waitlist will start moving in June. This seems to hold true, as I had 5 friends get in off the waitlist in June last year. Sit tight.
 
I interviewed March 8th and I'm still under review by the committee. Hopefully I get "served" before the wait-list... no offense all 🙂

Cool, who did you ask about this? I've mostly found the people working at the admissions office to be somewhat rude on the phone and don't really try to answer my questions. That may just be my luck whenever I've called.
 
The admissions office can be helpful. I think they are just really overworked, so you have to be very, very nice to them. 🙂
 
Oh man how many freaking ppl are on WL? seems like everyone not accepted is put on WL...
Do they reject ppl?

I've read on here before that ppl do get rejected outright but there can 100+ ppl on the waitlist. I don't know if that's true tho.
 
does anyone know roughly how many people get accepted off the waitlist each year??

Yea, I was also wondering how many people get accepted off the waitlist. I was checking last year's sdn forum and it looked like only 5 or 6 people got off it....Hopefully more got off

I'm not sure if anybody here even knows the answer to that. Let me know if you find out!
 
I know 7 people who were accepted off the waitlist last summer. None of them were on SDN. I also know they accepted people up until a few days before orientation. The school overenrolled a few years back, so now they tend to play it safe on initial admission offers.

This is all true. During the last few cycles, waitlist movement has extended well into July and sometimes even August. There's still a lot of time left.
 
Does anybody know if/when the adcom will be meeting to go over waitlist applicants?
 
I got a call from Drexel admissions today... accepted!!!!!!!!!!! (my interview was in February, no status change online)- I am sooo unbelievably excited!!!!! Drexel is an AMAZING school, I couldn't be happier right now!!!! Congrats to those accepted, and good luck to those waiting. Trust me, it is well worth the wait!!

Congrats to all those getting in off of the waitlist! Hopefully this means they finally reviewed my application for a preliminary decision (still "under review" online after my interview on 3/11). Fingers crossed for a big letter in the next week or so!
 
good luck to you too! i'm sorry you are still waiting 🙁 this may be a dumb comment, but i was under the impression that all schools would have applications completed and decisions made by May 15th (or 17th this year?) is that not true?
