Congrats to everyone who has gotten an acceptance! And good luck to those still waiting. Remember, a waitlist is NOT the end of your chances. Duke is traditionally a waitlist-heavy school. Long ago I was a waitlistee once. Best of luck to all of you (including you, traderjoe 🙂)

Oh, they don't -- I was just curious: mine says the same thing and that I'm still awaiting a final decision. Didn't know if this was because I interviewed later. Sorry to cause any spikes in anxiety.

Rough nite for the Heels. Must have been an interesting evening in your house. My spouse went to UNC. I do love to see duke's coach cry, whatever the reason.
Here's a toast to the end of application season. May it close better than the Heels! And on to decision time.
Im gonna follow the SDN neurotism and constantly refresh my email from 530am for the rejection email, or hopefully nothing, or an acceptance email (which is unlikely on two basis, my own ability, and Duke's attitude towards acceptance emails).

yeah 4 seems pretty harsh. but 450/750 apparently pass this stage so lets hope its not too stringent

Yeah, a little piece of me just died when I read that portion of the article and how the final decisions only really come down to 180 out of 450 applicants. I had good discussions with both of my interviewers, but they were nothing spectacular meriting a 4 of 5!
And since 180 acceptances will be going on, I'm assuming that there will be little to no movement on the waitlist?
SDNers here did note that Duke is waitlist heavy.
Perhaps they meant 180 acceptances in the article but did not mean 180 immediately....
or if it really is 180 imediately. there can be no waitlist movement and burnsey must hav ebeen really stellar on the WL

For all the people being neurotic, just to make you feel better, at least you aren't me. I am at home on Spring Break, and all my med school correspondence goes to my school address. Our mail room at school is CLOSED DURING SPRING BREAK!!! There is no way for me to get my mail. I didn't realize that the decision would come out when I wasn't there to get it.
Most likely I will get an email with a rejection/waitlist tomorrow, but if I don't, do you think I could call and ask? I won't know until I get back to school next week.

I will say that it depends on the year. My year was a big WL year, but the year after was not. What I really meant by saying Duke is a "big waitlist school" is that most people seem to get waitlisted, and there is usually decent movement. Some years more than others.
As far as the score issue, definitely don't worry about it. Only in a few instances last year when I interviewed folks did I give out less than a 4. Now I am admittedly on the generous side, but a 4 is a very doable score from anyone.
So either one of the interviewers can sink your application then. That kind of sucks.
It is certainly tempting to try to parse every detail to find out exactly when the emails will go out, but the truth is that there is so much that could vary with respect to the way that the emails are being sent (mail merge, print queues, server latency, etc, etc, etc) that there really is no way to pin down a time when that will happen. Case in point is the difficulty that was encountered last year. With that being said, good luck everyone!

Woooooow CHILL. I posted to clarify the minute after my first message. We are all interested/excited about the pending decisions but it won't make or break anyone.
Actually you are just slightly annoying. But I dont really care too much. Are you going to go 24hours without sleeping? haha..
Actually I developed this sleep schedule over xmas break and still havent gotten rid of it. I will go to sleep soon and hopefully be up after they sent out decisions. Good luck.

does anyone actually know what time these emails went out last year? it still seems ridiculously early to me.
i feel like they may want for the people who are getting the "snail mail" to actually have a chance to get their packages first, not? that would make more sense to me.
but, really, who knows.
from last year's thread, emails went out around ~3:10 pm on march 13th ish, but last year duke also waited a week past the target date (which for them was march 6) and they had some technical problems which forced them to send out emails from richard wallace's private account rather than the school servers

i'm kind of glad someone else is awake/waiting. i've been up for hourssssssssssss. My work day is almost done, and I know this could drag on for another day or two.
I wish I could be all zen about this, and emotionally detached. Also, my heart stops everytime I see the Gmail inbox number change.
