I've heard that Emory only trickles acceptances until the mid-March mailing... but I've seen a ton of acceptees posting. Is what I've heard just a rumor?

If you look on page ~9 of last year's application thread, they discussed how there is a lot of acceptances sent out in the last group. A lot of it is speculative, but some of the people mentioned hearing that during their interview day.

If you look at mdapps there are only 15 profiles that claim to have been accepted this year.

So yes it does seem that the last committee round leads to more acceptances then the previous rounds, but I am not sure how many more  Is half the class filled already? 2/3 of the class? I have no idea, I just have my fingers crossed.

Just to confirm (since I'm not near the packet they gave me...about to go on a spring break trip), the March mailing happens on March 9th? I think I remember this being the date..

Yep, it says March 9th on the handout. Good luck!

That's true. The all important facebook group currently has only 7 members in the class of 2014. I guess the outlook is good, even considering that there is only one round of acceptances left.

I dont know if the number of people in the facebook group really makes an accurate estimate of the number of accepted people. It is still pretty early and I doubt many people want to commit to a facebook group yet (pretty big deal). I bet a lot of people will start making up there minds when the financial aid stuff comes out.

I received an email today from Emory telling me the following:

"This email is a reminder that you currently have outstanding items that affect your financial aid status for the 2010-2011 award year. We need additional information before your award can be finalized or disbursed. Outstanding items may delay your aid award or loan disbursement. Your application will be reviewed after all required documents have been received. Your file must be complete before an accurate financial aid award can be determined and disbursed. Documents received after published due dates may negatively impact institutional grant eligibility."

The only strange thing about getting this email is that, to the best of my knowledge, I have not yet been admitted to Emory...

Did anyone else get an email like this from the Emory financial aid office? Are they just more on the ball than other schools in terms of actively soliciting financial aid information from applicants, regardless of whether or not they have been admitted?

Or should I take this as some sort of positive sign?

Any input would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Man, I hope that's the case- I love Emory.

I got the email, too. Given my luck this year, I wouldn't read too much into it.

Anyone who is accepted tried logging into OPUS?

Anyone who is accepted tried logging into OPUS?

I have tried but it says access denied. Also for that financial aid stuff, who else has turned in their financial aid docs but still that that email saying your your w2s and 1040s were still missing?

Whoa, it's weird to see that that they were saying almost the exact same things last year (look at how many people are in the facebook group, etc)
Yeah, everything seems to be playing out exactly as last year.
It's kinda strange that only 1(!?) person posted an acceptance for last year's March date - I thought that's when the majority of acceptances were made. Hopefully this year will be much better!!

Yeah I got it saying my tax stuff was missing, I called the financial aid office today and they said that they're entering it in right now, but nothing is considered late as of yet, and they time stamped everything when it arrived so they know what order to process it in

What does it say at the bottom....under the "Admissions" divider?

"Apply for admission and check your application status." or Event Registration,
View Decision Letter, View Your Events

I am not quite sure what you are referring too. TATA, yo have been accepted right?

just accepted. I guess this is the last round of pure (non-waitlist) acceptances?

if it got delivered today... then it wasn't mailed today. So maybe it was from the last batch of acceptances mailed 2 weeks ago? Also has anyone made progress on the opus situation?

Hey all,

Congratulations to cramlie! Would all acceptees from this round mind posting their state or geographic region so that we know how quickly the good ol' USPS is disseminating the news to certain areas?

Thanks,

Impatient in California

YES! Acceptance in the mail this morning. Interview was on Feb 15. This is definitely part of the last batch of acceptances. I'm located in Boston so these were definitely mailed out either last Friday or Saturday (no visible postmark date on envelope, though).

Best of luck to everyone else!

Question: is the packet big and un-bendable? Could it fit in a PO Box?

It's a large, white envelope, but very bendable. Mine actually was placed into my small PO Box. There are only 8 pieces of regular paper inside, so the packet definitely isn't that unwieldy. But don't get me wrong.. it's still glorious!

I live down the street from Emory. I am pretty sure it arrived on Monday. The letter inside was dated March 5.

I had no doubts it would be glorious! Our school mailing center wont put anything "bigger than a breadbox" in our PO boxes and instead sends it to package center....which is annoyingly slow to the nth degree.

Dang, no one else has gotten any news? Where's the epic flood of acceptances?

Dang, no one else has gotten any news? Where's the epic flood of acceptances?

There's still a chance we may hear tomorrow (hopefully!), but I'm not too sure of an epic flood. Again, see last year's thread, where only 1 person posted an acceptance for the March mailing.

Maybe they've already sent out the majority of acceptances in the months prior, and simply use this last date to reach their quota. I'm not sure they said a large number of us would hear in March, but rather that "it's not unusual for someone who interviewed early in the season to hear" later.
But then again maybe we'll all get acceptance letters tomorrow.

why are we assuming that mailing was from the 9th meeting? I called the office last week and they made it clear they were meeting on the ninth for the final round of acceptances....

I guess you're right. does anyone have the yellow sheet that tells you the last day acceptances will be post marked? I definitely lost uhhhh everything. Also, some people may not post their acceptances because they're busy celebrating like crazy...like we should be.

frenchfry said he/she interviewed Feb 15th, well before the feb 23rd date, and well well before the march 9th date

pura vida 😀

yeah, that sheet said march 9th

Accepted in CA today (3/9)! Interviewed late February. Anyone know if/when there's a revisit weekend?

Anyone who is accepted tried logging into OPUS?
Wait, all interviewees were supposed to get instructions on accessing OPUS in January, right? Wonder what it means if I never got that email despite my pre-Jan interview... hmm. How do I access that?

there is not a revisit weekend.

I emailed the admissions office about making an "unofficial" second visit and was told that a revisit day hasn't been scheduled, but they would let me know as soon as one is.

I called the admissions office today. Last round of acceptances got mailed on the 5th. poo.

So, I just called the office, and the woman said that all of the final acceptances were mailed out last Friday (3/5), meaning that yesterday was the third USPS day after they went out. Maybe it won't be a huge deluge of acceptances, after all. I'm kind of feeling like if I don't hear today, that'll be it for me and Emory 🙁.

you've already been accepted to columbia!

This thread depresses me

I knew the interview went poorly for me but I still held out hope. Sigh. Well congrats to all those that got in

Interviewed Feb 15 and got acceptance letter in mail today!

Sorry He2-- didn't mean to sound like I was complaining. It's just that I grew up in Atlanta, my family is still there, I loved Emory, and I was really excited at the prospect of practicing medicine at Grady and coming back home as a medical student.

Hang in there. I'm not sure what your med school app situation is, but I was still sitting on exactly zero acceptances as of four days ago. Remember that it ain't over til it's over. Good luck to everyone hoping to hear some good news soon.
