New York. In the city.
nice. what state?
I'm a first year at Emory with some kindly advice about the waiting process.
First, Emory doesn't use the fastest form of mail, I remember when i got my packet, it was probably 5-7 days after the had sent it out. They'll send you an email if they haven't received your confirmation at the 2 week point, so don't panic too much if it's cutting it close.
Second, If you got an interview, I'm pretty sure that Emory doesn't reject you until the first year class starts. The waitlist isn't ranked, so it behooves you to distinguish yourself from everybody else whose in the same boat.
Yes, they tell you not to send a thank you letter, but if you feel strongly about Emory and can write about it with some conviction and send it to Ira or June, the admissions committee looks for people that want to be there and they're not mind readers.
I know this because i wrote a letter, was waitlisted last year, and then got an offer after the decision deadline. Emory's waitlist does have some movement (I would very roughly guess there's 10-20 people in the class who were originally on the waitlist, don't take that as gospel) so if you get that letter, and Emory's your dream school, try to make it happen.
Good luck and deep breaths.
so I think I created an OPUS account and logged in (it says bob's student center on the top). there's a link to "view online decision" under my admissions but it says it just takes me to a page that says not available.
i'm not sure that there's any indirect way to check your admissions status online
can anyone who got accepted this round see their online decisions through opus? I'm like 300 miles from my mailbox...ALL I WANT TO DO IS KNOW.
They say that "Some years we have accepted as many as 20 alternates; other years we have been able to accept only 6 or 7."
Yeah, I didn't either but someone mentioned it so I went and created an account at http://www.opus.emory.edu/
I've been accepted and just checked my opus. It says no decision is available, so I don't think you can check your decision online.
there is not a revisit weekend.
wow they must over-accept by a lot if they only accept that many people from the waitlist
Unfortunately I haven't had any contact with Emory since so this may no longer be true, but on my interview day back in November, June said there wasn't going to be a revisit. You sure about that? Last time I spoke to admissions, they didn't even know if there was a revisit yet, so unless you know for sure, I wouldn't make such a definitive statement

On my interview day in February, the administration said there isn't a second look. That is why the interview day was so long--so there wouldn't be anything that you missed
"By the end of the month," as per my phone call w/the admissions office yesterday.have they sent wl notifications yet?
Even though I'm 99% sure I'm waitlisted, I decided to fill out the PROFILE for Emory just in case I was accepted after May 15th. I just have to say wow, that's by far the most intense financial aid questionnaire I've filled out so far.
Who said anything about the 15th? Last year's notices were sent out 3/23, two weeks after the final acceptance mailing. First acceptance from the WL was on 5/22.Yeah man so true. It's weird that noone has posted a waitlist yet. Weren't they all sent out on the 15th?
Also waitlisted. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere they don't reject post-interview, everyone who isn't accepted gets offered a spot on the alternate list. So with a class size of 132 and an interview group of ~700, I'd say the waitlist is about 450?Anybody else get the E-Mail?
Do they do any post-interview rejections, or is everybody who wasn't accepted given waitlist consideration?
also waitlisted... I don't think that everyone is waitlisted...that would be ridiculous?
I was waitlisted as well and am a little confused on what happens from here. I sent a letter of intent in February saying that if I am accepted then I will 100% attend. Now that I am waitlisted, does that letter still apply? Or, if I happen to be accepted off of the waitlist, will I not be bound to the letter?
I got a confirmation five days after sending it in.has anyone gotten a confirmation after sending in a reply to the alternate status email?
I'm not a med person; I'm getting my PhD in psych. But I wanted to hijack this thread to see if anyone knew of good (fairly cheap) places to live in the ATL. Any current students recommend any neighborhoods that cater toward college kids/young adults?
ive been doing some research as I am leaning towards Emory right now..though it changes day by day..some apartments near campus:
gables rock springs (gables montclair also but its expensive)
highland lake
post briarcliff apartments
lincoln court apartments
Thanks for the info. I'm not specifically looking for anything near Emory, just the city in general, but the area near Emory caters toward what I'm looking for.
