Just got my decision... waitlist. I interviewed 9/23.

Waitlisted....or as they put it "competitive applicant pool". Is this the same thing?

Kind of surprised. I'm like as far from a gunner as anyone can possibly get, and my GPA and MCAT were both above average. My interview was also awesome and I thought the 4th year I had really enjoyed our conversation...we talked for over an hour.

o man. this is gonna be me in 2-4 weeks....

Anyone receive an interview invite who was complete mid September or later?

Complete 09/08, still waiting and hoping for an invite!

I was under the impression that Georgetwon once you interview you don't get rejected but waitlisted. Does anybody know anything about this?

bump. Anything new from this school?

Got waitlisted last Friday, decided to withdraw today. Just sent an email. So there's definitely one less applicant to worry about. I really liked Georgetown, but I honestly feel as though my waitlist was a call to prove I really wanted to go there. In light of a few other acceptances to places I could see myself being more geographically happy (I'm just not a super big fan of DC), I thought it'd be better to open up another waitlist spot (i.e. potential acceptance) to someone more passionate for the Georgetown culture.

Good luck guys! Hope you make it to interviews/acceptance.

ty 🙂

congrats on the sinai acceptance

Is Georgetown finished with giving out interviews?

I would have loved to visit DC....

Anyone who interviewed on Oct 15th hear anything yet?

Nope... they said we'd be discussed in committee on 10/22, have a decision two weeks later, plus a week to process before they send out letters. If that timeframe is correct (which He2 seems to indicate is not), then we could be hearing back this week...

I thought they said 6-8 weeks from the day we interviewed. Btw I interviewed on the 8th and obviously haven't heard anything either.

the interview coordinator, steve, said 6-8 but then sullivan said it was more like the 3 week time frame. so that should mean this week but I bet it wont be until end of November.

that would be awfully early. i know they do it in batches, so no worries

just got my first rejection from georgetown- without an interview. that sucks 🙁 i really thought i had a shot here.

Same here. Too bad.

Do schools have any information regarding your acceptance status on other schools?

not until may 15th AFAIK

but yea, rejected here..for some reason, this one hurt more than BU and albany

ive got two interviews so far, so I can't complain, but this is the 1st time in the application process that I've been this demoralized

atleast its a friday night 🙂

Congrats to those who've gotten interview invites/acceptances 👍

yeah, I was rejected from BU couple weeks ago, and I was devastated. BU was actually my 1st choice... I heard you get an awesome clinical training there...

Good luck with the rest of your schools

Rejected 11/13
Complete 10/15

I was complete 10/5, but haven't heard anything. Does Georgetown do reviews in random order???

For other ppl who heard a news from GT today (rejection or invite), when were you guys complete?

Sorry that some of you were not invited for interview. I have had only one myself, and am anxious as anything...

I was complete 9/15 and got my rejection today. Sad because this seems like a great school.

I was complete in mid October.

So not hearing rejection is a good news for you.

Good luck!

i got a standardized response from ms sullivan saying thank you for the letter and that dr lauerman won't be reviewing them til mid january. i didn't get any rank, i don't think they do that. i did hear that a good number get off the waitlist-i heard 70% but i'm not sure how accurate that is. good luck, maybe we'll be future classmates!🙂

Yea, I heard from students on my interview day that more than half of the students get in off the waitlist in the late winter/early spring

no kidding... I was complete Oct 5, and still nothing... I thought they review your app once and make a decision to either reject or invite for interview, not put it aside for a later review...

"Complete" doesn't necessarily mean that they've had time to review it yet. And if it has been reviewed, they might have made a decision but just haven't gotten around to telling you yet. Pretty sure they don't do those things one-by-one. It could take a while, this school isn't the fastest...

I am aware of that... Some people who were complete 10 days after I was got decisions last Friday. None of them invites, though... Do they send out rejection and interview invites in different batches? Rejection or invite, I thought I would have received a notification by now...

I'm just really anxious, I guess...

Yeah that's what I'm saying, I think they do them in batches, more or less. And they don't go in chronological order. I was complete around 7/30, interview invite around 10/6, interview mid-Nov. A number of people got interview invites, interviewed, and even got a decision before I was invited despite the fact that I was complete before them.

They don't go in chronological order??? How do they decide which application to review??? I did not know that...

Just withdrew- hope one of you gets my spot!

if you did not get interviewed right away, i think it means they reviewed u, could not make a decision, and then decided they would review u again later.

i feel like silence just means u are on hold

This is my speculation:
I think for certain schools, especially ones like Georgetown which get 11000+ applications, it's hard for them to make a decision on every file in precise chronological order. As MacBookMD said, if they look at your file but don't automatically think "interview," you might be put aside. After that, depending on the strength of the rest of the people in the group they're looking at, maybe they'll decide to invite you in. If they're still not sure, they might either continue to hold you or they might reject you. It's pretty much the same at a lot of schools as far as I gather, just Georgetown doesn't have an official "hold status" pre-interview, like GW, Albany, Penn State, Michigan, to name a few I've seen mentioned.

So it's roughly, but not strictly (like Mayo, for example), chronological

hmm... The application guideline says they review each application ONLY once, not set it aside and hold for a later review. The guideline was very clear about that. alright, I'm just not gonna speculate anymore... Thanks for the inputs, though...

in other news, i think the ppl who interviewed in early oct can expect to hear later this week or early next

I think it's just a matter of semantics. You're only "reviewed" once, but a decision might not necessarily be made and/or communicated to the applicant immediately. Anyways, it really doesn't matter, and speculation at this point is pretty pointless

did you call and ask? I interviewed 10/8 and am dying over here! haha

nope. pure speculation and waaay too much time on my hands.

i looked at when the last round went out and when they found out, and tried to guess our own time

Anyone complete in early October still waiting to hear back?
