I'm at almost 9 weeks, no word yet.

nope. pure speculation and waaay too much time on my hands.

i looked at when the last round went out and when they found out, and tried to guess our own time

So I decided to call the Admissions Office to ask whats up. I interviewed on October 6th. The lady was nice, asked me for my AMCAS ID and my name, and then she told me we should be notified within 2 weeks.

i interviewed on oct 2nd and received an acceptance letter on nov 13th. no email though, just a letter in the mail.

Do you guys remember what month they said that we will find out about the waitlist situation? was it Jan or Feb?

Interviewed 10/15, rejected via email 11/23. Guess they figured out that I wasn't going to go there anyway  Best of luck to those still in the running!

Under status check there's no significant information, just notes that I've paid and certified.

Any word on how long this takes to move one way or another?

Rejected...really thought I had a chance at an interview...
Oh well, looks like philly is going be my town at this rate.

hey, sorry about the rejection. When were you complete, if you don't mind me asking?

That will never change, that just tells you whether or not you've gotten the secondary submitted. Info on interviews and decisions will all be via email.

After I sent in my letter, I was told that they would try to re-review my application by January. I don't know, however, if that means we will hear then or if it'll be a month later after they review it again.

I interviewed 10/8, do you guys think we'll be hearing the decisions in the next couple days?

Interview invite today for the first week in January!!! 😀 SO excited to see this school! Complete 9/3

Oops I definitely mean January.

Is Dulles really that inconvenient from GUSOM because round trip to Reagan is $300 vs $120 for Dulles? I would say a small inconvenience is worth saving $200. And its still probably more convenient than a 10hr bus ride.

Saving $180 is definitely worth it. I'm not sure how much Super Shuttle runs, but it'll probably run you $40 or so round trip from Dulles.

There's also a Metrobus that runs express from Dulles to Rosslyn. I want to say its 5A or 5E - google that just to be sure.

Sorry if this has already been answered previously, but did anyone who has already interviewed here stay with a student host? Was it a beneficial experience?

I would definitely take the shuttle or metrobus from Dulles. I made the HUGE mistake of taking a cab. One way was $70! So, after I got smart, I took the bus on the way back for $3.

I've spaced the info on interview day for Georgetown and I'm interviewing on Wednesday. What time do we need to show up? I believe it is 8AM, but where do we meet? Also, about what time is the day done?

Thanks.🙂

I just scheduled my interview today, and the interview coordinator said to arrive at the medical school building (3900 Reservoir Rd. NW) no later than 9:45 am. He said the day should end at or around 4 pm.

Hey everyone. I know many of you are still worrying about the interview process and the stresses that come along with it, but has anyone started a Georgetown Class of 2014 thread yet? If not then I think we should make one. I'm sure you will all get in where you want to go. Good Luck!

anyone interview around oct 26 and get a decision? when was the committee supposed to meet next?

I stayed with a student host when I interviewed, and I'd recommend it - mine was very nice and accommodating. Some other students also made an effort to come talk to the interviewees and offered to answer questions, etc., which was really nice especially because the M1's had a test coming up when I was there. Oh and if you have luggage, they let you keep it in "the fishbowl" when you're touring/interviewing, so don't worry about that!

Based on a few people interviewing and the time it took to get their decisions, it looks like you might get your decision next week or early the week after? I interviewed early Nov so I will probably be waiting until mid-late December if things are going smoothly.

Rejected at GUSOM on 11/30

Complete on 10/14ish

🙁 I really thought I had a chance at an interview, in the area, faculty connection, pretty ok stats and no gunner attitude, i really thought this school was for me... guess not.

You think i can send an update letter and get them to change their mind?

You think i can send an update letter and get them to change their mind?

I have seen a couple cases around Mdapps where people claim to (at other schools) have reversed pre-interview rejection decisions and get an interview by sending a letter of interest or other update, but I have a feeling that this is extremely rare and basically a waste of time. Probably better to just put Georgetown aside and focus on your other schools...

Any interview invites here lately?
Complete first week of September, no word yet!

... that would be great... but I only have one interview, been rejected at 4 schools and I only have 10 more schools to go that haven't yet contacted me... and are at the same level as the 4 schools that rejected me.

not sure what to do at this point.. i guess you are right though, update letters only really help a select few. hm. tough call.

Well, 10 more schools left is not necessarily a totally desperate situation at this point in the year, but if you are feeling like you want to exhaust every possible option, I guess one way to look at it is that it can only help you to send something in; you've already been rejected so they can't do anything else to you. You could also try calling and seeing if there is any way to get feedback on your application. The chance that they will change their mind is probably <0.001% unless they totally missed or misinterpreted something major about your application that you might be able to clarify. I mean, think of the repercussions if they set a precedent of reversing rejections. It would be insane.

In my opinion, a more productive use of your time might be to find out which of those schools that you are waiting on might respond to a pre-interview letter of interest. Wake Forest, for example, has been known to encourage these in some cases. That's just my suggestion.

waitlisted 😳 but my interviewer told me straight out that thats what id receive. He said that if youre a good applicant and from OOS then they assume you will probably choose an in-state school to go to, for me a UC, and dont want to send you an acceptance straight out and have it turned down. So, for any of you from OOS on the waitlist, dont feel discouraged!!:xf:

Approximately when did you interview? Just curious as to where they are in the reviewing process...

That's also good to know about the OOS thing. Kind of sucks that they make that assumption; maybe a bit of an inferiority complex? Though they're probably correct in many cases, especially if you're from as far away as California, where a lot of people choose UCs.

I don't really get what your interviewer was trying to say...it's DC, so literally over 99% of students they interview are "out of state." Not to mention, interviewers at Gtown don't have your stats during the interview, so I don't know why yours would have told you to expect to get waitlisted because you were a good applicant from out of state. The majority of their class comes from the Northeast and California, where there are good state schools, and while they are definitely concerned about losing students they accept to their state schools, they still have to offer at least some acceptances.

That being said, they do get 11k+ apps, so they really scout out the people who actually want to be there, and people who express that in the interview (or send an LOI if waitlisted) up their chances significantly of getting in. Good luck 🙂!

I interviewed on October 7th. Waitlisted on November 23rd. He told me there is a medschool ranking called "Selectability." Basically how many acceptances you have to give out to fill your class. Their selectability was low since a lot of their initially accepted students ended up withdrawing to go elsewhere, so now they are more frugal with handing out acceptances. Sucks but makes sense...

OOS is a term i used, im not sure exactly how he put it. I can only really assume he said that cuz im from cali and the UC's are very competitive. He did ask for my stats and saw all my extra curriculars so thats why he said I was a good applicant.

All im tryin to say is to not get discouraged if youre on the waitlist. goodluck people! 🙂

They told us at the interview that once you were rejected your decision was absolutely final (as opposed to being waitlisted I guess). She was talking post-interview but I would have to assume its the same, especially considering how many applications they receive.

i was wondering if anyone had input on sending an update letter post interview? I just had my interview mid November and was told I won't find out my decision until the end of January! Although I tried to emphasize what I've been doing/planning on doing since turning in my application, I don't know how much of it will actually help during the committee review since it was barely discussed during my interview...

for example, I'm doing research but my interviewer was a doctor and didn't seem particularly interested...ive been doing a lot of community service as well which I think would help since its Georgetown...

any advice on maybe sending an update letter to Sullivan? or should I wait hoping for the waitlist (or acceptance!) after which I'd send a letter? any help would be greatly appreciated!

I interviewed on October 7 and still haven't heard anything, is this unusual?
