FA at Georgetown. They give it. I know people who got full tuition. I also know people who got nothing. The thing is, you need to get your FA info in early. Also, be persistant. If they give you nothing, ask them to re evaluate it. Worked for some lucky members of my class.

As for the waiting game.... It stinks. However, it is worth the wait. I interviewed Nov 20.... waitlisted and didnt see an acceptance until April 9th. Do I care now? No. I am at the school I wanted to be at. Best advice is to sit back and relax. Those of you still in undergrad.... ENJOY whats left! It is way easier.... like 100000x easier than Med school. So just have fun.

Anyone waitlisted? Its very common. Georgetown does not accept many people right away nor do they reject many. The theory is that they want to have the right students, ones that want to be here and embrace Cura Personalis. I must say, it works. The current M1 class is awesome. So many unique individuals. Georgetown is not big on just accepting High MCAT/GPA... they want the right match. So, if waitlisted, and you really loved it here. Write that 3 paragraph letter Ms. Sullivan spoke of. It worked for me.

Lastly, Student life. We are really happy. I am sure you will catch us on off days (week of an exam) but that is normal. Trust me, our school is a family and we try to keep each other motivated, relaxed, and happy. Plus, lots of fun things to do in DC!

Thats it. Good luck to everyone. I am sure you will all see great success

I had a suspicion that the student leading my tour was just uninformed (or didn't need the aid, who knows).

Thanks for this information! Very helpful actually...

:luck: everyone!

Thank you, that was very helpful.

When do you consider as early for FA? Also, I saw somewhere that the students at GU tend to be competitive. I hope that's not true. Can you clarify?

Thanks for the post, the info was really helpful. Quick question though, when u you say finacial aid do u mean federal loans or actual aid, like in grant form?

Probably the Georgetown institutional aid - there's info about it on the accepted students page, and when it's ready they're apparently going to post a link to the form. I think it's due April 15th, but I guess the earlier, the better!

mmmmmmmph no waitlist movement yet this week .....

I interviewed on Dec. 2, and I'm wondering when I can expect to hear something from Georgetown? By the way, is the waitlist already starting to move before all the interviews have been conducted?🙂

Hi everyone,
there have been some questions about when people have heard back about things, so I started going backwards and making a list based on what's been posted here (my job is very boring haha). Some other threads have done this, and it might be useful for us and for those applying in the future. I only went back a few pages, so there are more that maybe I'll add later. Feel free to add/remove/correct your information!

No news today, on to the next :xf:👍

Anyone know if Georgetown accepts/likes letters of interests or updates post-interview? I really loved the school and want to let them know, but I don't want to annoy them.

I hate that they take so long to get back to you!

Yeah, they are definitely into the letters of intent. Search this thread and you'll see all about it.

By the way, what do you think the standard amount of wait time (to hear something post-interview) is for Georgetown? I figured it was about two months. Is that about right?

Well I think they told us 8-11 weeks at my interview, and looking at the list of everyone that applied and was accepted that was posted a few posts up it looks like its about 2 months.

Is there anyone who is from a smaller city ( I mean like 50,000 or less) or is from the West Coast who goes to Georgetown or is thinking about going there? I just want to get a perspective on what it would be like to live in a huge city on the East Coast like DC after living the majority of my life in a small town in the west.

Georgetown itself is small town, relatively isolated from the rest of DC and largely suburban. The nearest metro requires you to bus there and most of the gentrified, historical, or more exciting locations take some planning to access without a car.

For better or worse, I'm sure you're already used to it. There are a lot of Californians here and many are from relatively suburban towns (30-50k).

Thanks. I am just not a city person. At all. California is quite a bit different than where I am from, regardless of the size of their town 🙄. The population of my entire state is probably less than the population of DC! I am trying to prepare myself for culture shock no matter where I go.

I've been told that neighborhoods within a big city are like medium-sized towns within themselves, with their own "down towns" and a community feel. Campuses are often like little towns in and of themselves, too.

I've spent my whole life on the west coast and lived in Eugene (which is obvious from my name), so I'm in sort of a similar position as you--although Eugene is much bigger than lots of ID towns. I decided to go East because I'm ready for a change/adventure. Plus, how beeeeeautiful is the area?!

Yeah Georgetown didn't feel too big. Being from Montana, I am just used to a smaller feel. Also, as I am almost certainly ending up on the East Coast, I am going to miss mountains something fierce. Nothing can compare to the Rockies.

Very random but anyone remember what the class and lab schedules looked like? I can't seem to remember or find anywhere where it is listed on the website. I mean like, how long you are in lectures and when you usually get done every day. I recently told someone that I had just about made my final decision to go here and they were like, are you in class until 5 or do you get out at noon? I honestly can't remember...

Waitlist email today. Interview 12/2--thought it went well.

ya thanks for the Financial Aid stuff, going to work on that now.

dont worry about the waitlist swimmer, write your letter and hope to get in later. Good luck!

And I didn't hear anything today - I wonder what that means????

Did decisions for other groups go out in a big batch or were they staggered? If I'm rejected, would I likely hear sooner or later? What about if accepted? Any patterns or is this just useless rambling?😕

If it will help... I interviewed 10/1 and CAP 11/4... still waiting here.... 🙄

Anyone? I was also hoping someone could answer this.

I'm not sure if this answers your question exactly, but I found it interesting to look at this site: http://som.georgetown.edu/medicaleducation/curriculum/FirstYearModules
You can look at the syllabus for each class, which gives a good idea what a weekly schedule will look like throughout 1st year, including lectures/labs/other sessions.

I'm not sure if this answers your question exactly, but I found it interesting to look at this site: http://som.georgetown.edu/medicaleducation/curriculum/FirstYearModules
You can look at the syllabus for each class, which gives a good idea what a weekly schedule will look like throughout 1st year, including lectures/labs/other sessions.]

Thanks! The syllabi have all of the scheduled lecture times and pertinent info. For anyone who's interested, in a nutshell, it largely depends on which module you're in. The first one has lectures going anywhere from 8 or 9 to 12 or even 4, which breaks dispersed between. There's almost a different schedule everyday, which means some days are very short, others are pretty long. I think this variability is a good thing though. Much better than 8-5 everyday.
😀

Thank you for the updates people. I think this info will be helpful to others from this and future cycles 🙂

yes i personally like their schedule. I also really like how they are breaking down gross anatomy into systems. i remembered when i was there in september the first years were saying they had a month or two more before they used cadavers. its very different to other schools were gross anatomy starts your medical school career.

on another note, has any one had problems getting the office of admissions their confirmation of acceptance form?? I regular snail mailed mine over two weeks ago and it has still not arrived. Mr. Schneider said wait till monday and if it does not show up mail the copy. i would rather it just showed up to confirm my seat.

they emailed me when they received my confirmation. I'm sure they'll do the same with yours. USPS is not exactly the most reliable...

I interviewed back in November, just got my acceptance letter yesterday. To all of those still working through the process, good luck! Please let me know if you have any Q's.

For those of you who wrote one of those letters to Ms. Sullivan, did she ever respond back? I sent my follow up letter like a week ago attached as a .doc file and she never responded to me--I'm a bit worried as I really want to go here!
