Interviewed 11/4... Waitlist e-mail today... surprisingly i'm not that upset even though i thought the interview went really well. Still debating whether or not I will write the butt-kissing letter

Yikes! I interviewed the day after you with no news yet :scared:

So I submitted all of my secondaries quite a while ago except for Georgetown. I think my reluctance is due to the fact that I'm not one to suck up to a school and that's all you're supposed to do in their long essay.

I don't know if it's even worth submitting now. I can pay the fee, but it's kind of expensive and I have such a minuscule chance of getting in anyway. My GPA is only 3.5 and my MCAT is 31R. Anyone have an opinion? Thanks!

I think it depends on whether or not you have a sincere interest in the school. The essay isn't so much you sucking up to them as your chance to demonstrate that something about the school has sparked your interest and caused you to want to apply there. Gtown, from what I understand, is really big on selecting the students who seem to really "fit" the program and the school, and although you're not expected to know that before the interview day (I didn't), I'd research the school and if you're feeling it, write the essay, your stats are good enough!

So yeah...my biased opinion is to go for it but if you're not interested in the school, I'm sure you can think of better ways to spend your money. Good luck 🙂

Anyone know when theyll tell us about the waitlist movement?

feel like there is plenty more waiting to do if u still want to go here and u are on the waitlist

I think you are right, we may all be waiting a while but there is still a chance we could hear back in the next month. Last year some people got off the CAP as soon as late December... When did you all submit your letters? I sent mine in mid-Nov stating that Gtown is by far my number one choice for med school. After Mrs. Sullivan's speech and the interview I was wholeheartedly sold on the program.

Sent mine in Nov Oct 15th. Definitely by number 1. Really hoping they come through.

Interviewed Nov. 6 and accepted today. I was surprised to hear from them so close to the winter holidays.

congrats. I interviewed about a week after you, looks like I'll have to wait for the new year

Does anyone remember the three points that Ms. Sullivan said we should include in our Wait List follow-up letters? I've been looking through SDN but can't find them.

Thanks a lot

I think it's best to highlight why you want to go to Georgetown and why you think you are a good fit. Good luck!

You're definitely right, those are the two most important points to hit on. I could have sworn there was a third specific point that was made, but my memory is a little fuzzy! Thanks for the advice.

I don't think you necessarily have to have three points but you do need to have three paragraphs. You could also mention what you are currently doing as well.

I'm in the same boat. I sent in my letter toward the end of October. January was when I was told they would start looking at them. I was thinking, though, once they look at them, will it take a couple of days to make a decision or will they do a whole re-evaluation and take two, four, six weeks? Glad to hear last year that people started hearing soon though. Good luck to all!

damn. 3 paragraphs in 1 page is kind of hard to write.

did they say it had to be double spaced??

you think it would kill us if it were more than 3 paragraphs?? my understanding was just write a letter of interest basically.

Well, on one hand, they were pretty specific about it being 3 paragraphs, but really, I think that she was just giving that as an example of how to organize the letter if you weren't sure what they were looking for in terms of content. If you feel like, given what you want to write, 2 or 4 paragraphs will make it flow better, I highly doubt that they'd hold it against you. I wouldn't go over 1 page though.

Does anyone know how Georgetown's hospital and curriculum compare with NYU's? I didn't get a good tour of GT's hospital.

Other than location and living conditions, how do these schools differ? Which is more prestigious, esp. from a surgical perspective?

Which would you guys choose???

Does anyone know how long Georgetown's interview season lasts?

hey has anyone who interviewed after 11/5 heard anything?! I interviewed mid November but was told I wouldnt hear until the end of the January which sounds kinda late considering an 11/5 interviewee heard 12/22...

thanks!

I also interviewed mid-November and haven't heard anything. They told us 8-10 weeks. 10 weeks for me would be during the 2nd to last week of January. So that sounds about right... they are really slow here

I took the September 12 mcat, the results took about a month to get back, and I completed my secondary around the end of October/early Nov. Has anyone else gotten an interview even though their file was completed so late?

I am in the same boat. And no interview invites yet from any schools including this one. (Although I did get a few rejection letters from other schools pre-interview... 🙁

anyone from the waitlist who wrote a letter hear back yet?

i might have missed this, but did they say when they start to consider ppl from the waitlist?

FML

I wanna go here soooo badd!

I am in the same boat. As soon as my interview was over I was sure that I wanted to go to here and now the more I wait the more I want to go. Seriously, Georgetown ruined all my other interviews because after visiting the school none seemed as good. I hope they start reviewing people on the cap soon.

I regret so much putting it as my first interview! I was interview but Dr. Laureman too, so I was soooooo damn nervous. I wish I would have set it as my second or something.

BUT HERE IS TO STAYING POSITIVE :xf:👍👍👍👍👍👍

I just want to hear back from them at all. I interviewed during the second week of November. People from the first week of November heard back before Christmas... hopefully they will release more decisions soon... I really want to know where I stand, because this is one of my very top schools and would love to go here.

rejection post-secondary, pre-interview via email. oh well.....GL everyone

Today freakin rocks for all of us!! This kicks so much butt! I just got in as well!

I hope this means they will get around to informing those of use who haven't heard anything post-interview... 9 weeks and counting over here
