Meanwhile.. so I just read this entire thread and I'm still trying to figure out if I wanna apply here lol. I heard they're more of a "fit" school, whatever that means, and I came across other negative things, so what have you guys heard?

i had to manually copy and paste it in. don't know why it makes a difference, but it does.

I just got it too and I was complete on the 18th I think.

Hey guys, just received the secondary and thing about Georgetown is that I submitted extremely late last year with a mediocre primary. I think that I've adjusted my primary enough but I'm wondering whether I can submit the same secondary (which I worked really hard on last year). Is that looked negatively upon/do they even keep a record to check back on? With so many applicants it seems to make sense that they wouldn't care.

I just want this time to count. I'd love some advice.

i really doubt they will keep anything from last year, so unless your essay was crazy unique and some adcom remembers it word by word you should be fine 🙂
 
I don't know...some schools do keep all applications on file for 1-2 years and will compare them. However, I have NO CLUE if Georgetown does this...
 
Forget to ask this earlier, but I was wondering if anyone else talked a lot about the Jesuits and the school's religious affiliation?

I'm a practicing Catholic so I really like that part of the school.

if you feel like you should talk about religion, then go ahead. I mentioned it anyways because I firmly believe in my Catholic teachings. it wouldn't hurt b/c Georgetown is a Jesuit school and they don't mind anyone mentioning religion.

Is that really a safe assumption? I was thinking the same thing. Because the school is Jesuit, e.g., does that mean the adcom and the interviewers must share the same views as the college mission statement (i.e. be cool with religious stuff etc.)?

if u want to mention relegion do so, but dont make it the focal point. You are applying to medical school not missionary school. While they do hold some values such as no abortions and what not, you dont want to go on and on about god and religion. If you feel strongly you can mention it but tie it into why georgetown/medicine or w/e in a meaningful way that just isnt like I LOVE THE LORD JESUS CHRIST!!!!!!! know what i mean?

That's what I was saying, is it a safe assumption to say that since the school is religiously-affiliated, that means the adcom and interviewers must be cool with you mentioning religion (i.e. if you tie it in to medicine etc.)? In other words, is it possible for you to get an interviewer or adcom member who doesn't like hearing/reading any religious stuff even though the institution is Jesuit, Catholic, etc.?

Yes its fine. Just talk about it if you truly want to, its not going to ruin you or help you. Like all these essays its all about the overall presentation and how it ties into your app. One adcom may like what you say another may not, that will hold true for whether you talk about the lord or not. In other words just dont worry. talk about it and then tie it in however you see fit and just dont make it your focal point.
 
my friend goes to georgetown. the religious affiliation means nothing. talking about it is kind of meaningless unless you're talking about cura personalis.

after all the rejections i've been getting, i thought i was going to get rejected by every MD school this year.

And yeah, I can't seem to schedule an interview date either.

That's a really bad week for me to interview. I'm going to georgia that weekend, and I'm trying to defend my thesis around that time. I wonder if they'll budge?

If it doesn't work today, then I just have to wake up at 6 AM tomorrow morning PDT, I guess.🙁

The reason being I need to schedule this carefully because my week is really hectic that week as well.
