I did it for GW and found out "hold for further review," but I thought someone here would know about Georgetown.

kind of glad to get it over with...

I don't think there's a status check online. You might want to call them.

wow so I guess if I wasn;t a part of rejection monday, then I;m just on hold... I've been completed since very early August or even late July, I think

Nice sig. Good luck!

for those of you who have scheduled your interview over the phone, did you get an email confirmation after?

after you sent your picture over email, did you get a response from them?

did a quick search on gmail, and i believe no on both accounts.

i'm kind of neurotic and i'm wondering what if the admin guy messed up the date and i go there, and they're like who are you??? you're not on the interview list.

Don't worry. That's not going to happen.

Rejection from Georgetown. That was a nice whim.

Rejection as well...not my only rejection today either, blaaah

Rejected!

And why does the bolded add to the sting....
By all means, make it impersonal for us!

Dear XXXXXX,

The Committee on Admissions has completed its consideration of your
application for admission to the 2010 First Year Class of the Georgetown
University School of Medicine. Unfortunately, the Committee has decided
that it is not possible to offer you a place in the Class. Please be
assured that your application has been given personal consideration.

We appreciate your interest in the Georgetown University School of
Medicine and wish you well in your future endeavors.

Sincerely,
Brandon C. Schneider
Assistant Dean for Admissions

Sorry to all those who have been rejected. Quick question: do they post the interview/rejection status to the secondary application status page or do they just email you? I'm unsure if I'm supposed to keep checking that or if that is just used by them until your application is completed. Thanks and best of luck to everyone who has an interview.

They will email you.

They will email you.

I get that they will email you, but I was just wondering if they update the secondary application status page as well. Just in case, the email gets filtered or something, which I doubt it would. Thanks!

Mine wasn't.

Will final decisions be emailed as well or snail-mailed?

Man, I don't want to jinx myself here, but I was complete on 8/17, and I haven't heard a peep. No rejection/No invite.

Rejections/invites have been occurring in ~ 1 month for you guys, right?

15th of what month?

October 15th, which is the first day they can release decisions. That is for people who have already interviewed that is. I'm not sure what the turn around will be as the season goes on.

But what I really wish is that they would let us call and ask.

Holiday Inn, or the Conference Center.

Thanks guys! I will definitely check those out!

Just to let you know, student hosting is now up, but personally I would rather stay by myself.

sorry if this has been posted, BUT, do you know how many they ACCEPT? I know how many matriculate.

Check out the MSAR. But usually, schools accept twice the number they matriculate.

Any news from anyone complete early Septemeber?

Yeah, Georgetown really looks a real deal. Great environment.

Does anyone know if Georgetown does rolling admission. I guess I was wondering because I have my interview next week and was wondering if it is better now to have the interview earlier than further into the fall. Just wondering. Any advice from those that have interviewed? Im getting really excited which I hope isnt going to be trumped by nervousness. 😳

it is rolling, so earlier is better, in terms of available seats. they look at i think 90-100 each month, and theoretically, everyone could get accepted. but it's usually about 25-30 each round of reviews. but since that might vary, once the class is full, there's nothing you could do. so short story is earlier is potentially better.

Come with questions prepared - it definitely helps because it forces you to look into the school, think about what's important to you and also can make you look organized and like a serious applicant who is very engaged is the process. There's a lot of time to chat with different members of the medical school, and you don't want to seem like you're not interested/curious.

Most importantly, eat a big breakfast! It's a long time until you get lunch!

Good luck! I just interviewed there so if you want to know more details about it, feel free to PM me.

Because it's rolling, it would be to your advantage to interview as early as possible. You could do a mock interview for preparation, if you're nervous. But seriously, the interview is low-stress because it's so conversational. You should be fine.

Hmm I have been complete since 8/21 and still no news... Do they frown on people calling in about their status?

I think you should give it a little while. From the look of things, most people have been getting invites in around a month's time. Maybe wait until Friday to call...it's not going to change their decision either way.

Anyone who has interviewed already have the cajones to call and ask if the Adcom has made a decision and if theyll release it over the phone? Cuz I dont.

They can't release until 10/15 by AMCAS rules.

Also, I thought they e-mail decisions?

They told us that the first committee meeting would be on the 24th and that they can't release decisions until the 15th as you pointed out. And yes decisions will be emailed with a follow-up letter 🙂

Only reason I ask is that people from Eastern Virginia thread were saying that they called and given decision now.

You will get your decision soon enough. Chill.
