2009-2010 Grad School Interview Invite Thread!

It also might be helpful to those of us waiting, to know how many people have received interviews at each school. That way we might have a better sense if invites are going out in waves or individually.
 
The earliest any of my schools have sent out interviews in past years is not for another 2 weeks... I'm dying!! Even knowing that, I check my email every 5 min and this website pretty often, as well. Pathetic...

Same situation here.
 
not an interview invite, but i got a call from my POI at USC today. invites will be extended in the next week or two. to me, that timeframe is akin to "in this millennium or the next" lol but at least i know the invites haven't already been given!

USC as in Southern Cal or South Carolina?
 
Thanks for all the interview info you've all PM'd me today. I'll updating this when I have a break from the grant-application-due stress! Congrats to all of you!

I'm somewhat frightened by the quietness on my end today, though I know logically that more than half of my programs have January deadlines and am lucky (and happy) to have received 3 pre-Christmas invites...

OK, I know only one of my programs is on the list so far and there is probably another week till the invites really start flowing, but I have only received 1 phone interview and I am starting to freak! Anyone else?
 
ok so I finally got the official letter from CUNY John Jay College of Criminal justice, the interview is scheduled for January 29th (Friday) all that day. Guess I could think of worse things to do around my birthday.

at least you got something...I haven't heard a thing from any of my schools 🙁
 
I get the sense, and please correct me if i am wrong, but I get the feeling the more prestigious a program is (or think they are) the longer it takes them to get back. This is a sweeping generalization and more really a conjecture, but it just seems like that. Could have to do with more competitive applicants and more applicants in general. So A LOT of you are really class applicants applying to class schools, hence it will probably take quite some time longer before you start hearing back.

I wouldn't agree with this. I got interview invites from "Top 10" schools starting in early Dec through late Jan. There is a lot at play -- when the graduate school forwards materials, when winter break falls, grant deadlines, etc. There's no point in speculating. 🙂

If it helps, I think the # of applicants was really high at some programs this year, at least from what I see at my program and at friends' programs

Also, some of the invites come directly from POIs; i.e. one POI at a prestigious school with tons of applicants may have sorted through their applications quicker than others.
 
I got a phone interview invite on Christmas Day from my POI at UTexas - Austin. The interview is in half-hour and I was coming on here for some last minute advice. Hope it goes well and good luck to everyone else through this daunting process. 😀

What a fabulous Christmas present!! I'm sure it went very well! .....and if you want to spread the love, I would totally appreciate a PM with your POI's name! :laugh:

Haven't heard anything! Yea angst! Most of my schools aren't on the master list, though, so I'm not totally freaking yet. What's a POI?

I notice people have gotten word from UW Milwaukee on both 12/30 and 01/04. Was this from your POI? If so could people PM me with the POI that contacted them? Pretty Please?? The anxiety is killing me.

Also I heard from Marquette with an invite for their Counseling Psych program on 12/23

eatsleeppsych....you wouldn't by chance be talking about University of Milwaukee? At least I'm hoping that as I have yet to hear as well.

Don't worry! I just made a list of my schools and the invitation dates from last year (because the anxiety is starting to build and spreadsheets are my security blanket software) and it looks like most interview invites won't really start until the 14th at the earliest (at least where I applied). Doing this made me feel better so it may help you too. So, we can hold our breath and try to keep it together till then.

Good luck everyone and congrats to those with interviews!!!!

P.S.

Does anyone else feel like this process has made them like that really lame Grey's Anatomy line? "Choose me. Pick me. Love me." This feeling of desperation doesn't suit me....

That's exactly how I feel...and its sickening lol
 
I know that Vermont is holding in-person interviews February 27th and I have heard that snail-mail letters will be sent to notify interviewees the end of January. (I was told this by my POI)

I have also been informed from a secretary in the admissons office at Utah that phone interviews will be held around the week of January 18th and that in-person interviews are scheduled for February 18th and 19th.

Just in case anyone else applied to these two schools.

I am excited for tomorrow... last two years the first thursday of a full January week (i.e., 8th last year, 9th year before that) has been a big day for sending out emails for invites etc... imma go ahead and call it black thursday 🙂

Ok, now it's officially time to freak out since 1 of my schools finally showed up on the list...Can the person who got the Drexel invite PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE pm me their POI??? Thanks!!
 
If anyone wants to be terrified, Drexel received 520 applications for 8 to 10 slots.
 
Does anyone know how to find the "interview feedback" thread from last year? I can find the Interview Invite Thread based on the link at the beg of this one, but haven't been able to track down the feedback thread.

I have an super early interview at UCSB's CCSP program for Jan 22 (notified by phone, official e-mail supposed to go out on Friday) and really want to get a sense of what to expect!
