hey can the person that got the UIC phone screen interview PM me the POI, I am guessing it isnt mine (not even sure mine decided to take or not).

thanks! I know in history they tend not to give the official invites out until end of the month, but maybe this year they will be earlier!
 
I'm new to the forums and just wanted to say hello and thank you for all of your hard work. It is nice to have a community that tries to help one another along this difficult process.

Also, I know that it was already posted, but I have an interview at Purdue for their Counseling PhD program. I am really excited, but still very nervous!

Still can't say I'm too comfortable listing my POI, but I'll help you (and other inquiring minds) out a little.

My POI didn't tell me about other interview invitiations but did say that the faculty was meeting this week to discuss funding and other logistics. I think that's a good indication that some of the other professors may not have notified their interviewees yet. Hope this helps...

Anyone getting calls on their cell phone or home phones? - just wondering which phone I should attach to my body.

this may seem common sense, but please dont forget to make sure your voicemails are working!!! My cell phone company aka ATT aka always unreliable, had an outage so my voicemail service was not working and I totally missed calls from a guy at Drexel for like a week (my lab doesnt get reception so it goes straight to voicemail, straight to a voicemail that did not work!) As soon as I got my voicemail fixed I got that message!
 
Could anyone shed some light on the Oregon invite? The list still only has Jan 9 as an invite date, but more invites were listed in the 1/17 update. Has someone just received an invite over the weekend? Was it an email from their POI?

Any information would be appreciated!
 
just a quick correction: EMU interview is 2/19, and alternate 2/15, not 2/12.
 
I've received two interviews thus far.

The first is to Southern Methodist University, and I received the call on Jan. 4th.

The second is to Miami University of Ohio. I was contacted via email on January 12th.
 
For those of you frustrated by this process, I wanted to provide some hope. This is my THIRD time applying, and I didn't get in the first 2 times. The first time (3 years ago), I got 1 in-person interview and 1 phone interview. Waitlisted at both, didn't get in. The second time (last year), I got 1 interview in-person and didn't get in. This year just under half the schools I applied to have NOT given out invites, and I already have 4, so maybe the third time is the charm. My point is, if you don't get in, don't give up!
 
Still waiting on 16 schools to even show up on the list...but have 1 interview for a counseling program, and 1 status update saying I got waitlisted as an interview alternate. The competition has gone up significantly this year, I believe. The school I got placed as an alternate got 50+ more applicants this year than last. 🙁

I'm waiting on 13. I have six interviews thus far. I never could have anticipated that I would do this well. I have scheduling conflicts already, but this is a problem I am happy to have!

In case others overlooked this, the UIC invite was counseling psych PhD ... i totally freaked when I saw UIC listed at the top of the thread; however, I noticed that it wasn't on the full list and proceed to look at the counseling programs. it was there.

So, if you made the same mistake I did, rest assured that UIC (clinical phd) hasn't started inviting yet (or it doesn't seem that way).

Best of luck to those getting interviews! Still keeping my fingers crossed; most of mine aren't even on the list yet.

An invite was received 1/13 via email from POI; I forgot to add that to the list, but just fixed it now! Sorry! 😳

Nope, the UIC invite was clinical (wrong subheading on my part! 😳 now changed)
 
Also, curious about UMD - College Park? Can anyone who got an invite PM me and I will let you know my POI. Thanks.

Understandable...wondering if I PM you with my POI, whether you're willing to tell me whether or not we match? That way at least if I'm already out of the running I can get that straight in my head and start the grieving process, if you will 😉.

I'm sure everyone is feeling the same way but I sincerely hope more interview invites come out this week from the schools already on the list and obviously schools that are still keeping everyone in the dark. I know a lot of schools just started having POIs send out invites last week so hopefully there are still more to come this month. I know it's still early in the process but it's easy to get discouraged, even this early on after seeing so many schools pop up on the list. I'm crossing my fingers that my POIs are still making final decisions for invites. :xf:
 
I wonder who will be the lucky Fordham invitees... I think it might go out today, but that is just a guess... if you are one of the lucky folk you should just post it on here 🙂 since it will most likely be a mass email (Fordham doesnt invite based on POI but rather match to program as a whole).

Official Clark University Interview Invite e-mail just received 01/19/2010 (although original invite was given over the phone last week as posted).
 
Just saw this on the UNC-Chapel Hill Clinical Psych site:

Applicants for Fall 2010 Admission:
All interviews for the UNC Clinical Program will be on Friday Feb 12, 2010. All applicants invited for an interview have been notified.

So it looks like I can count that one off my list... 🙁

Sometimes, the faculty might be interested in you as a student, but for whatever reasons think another POI is a better fit (either due to funding or research interests). Maybe this POI is going in a different direction or believes s/he could use your past experience in the lab.

I think people usually get interviews with their POI, but your case is not exactly rare. It happened to me a few years ago. Often, you meet with several POIs anyway. Maybe you will get the chance to interview with both while you're there.

If you're worried, you could always verify the information with the school. I might steer away from this though b/c it could make you look like you aren't too excited about the POI they set you up with (but that's just me being overly cautious).

Sorry, I'm new to the site. I just have a few questions: what does POI mean? I also am listed to interview with someone who I did not list in my application...does that mean I should I assume that I am interviewing to work specifically with him and not with the other people I mentioned in my application?

Hi, I received an invitation for the yeshiva/ferkauf interview.
The email said this: "The interview will be a full day starting with a group meeting with a program faculty member followed by individual faculty interviews, an interview with a current student, and a campus tour."

Does anyone know what I should expect from the group meeting? Is it like an interview? more of a meet-and-greet?

SO I saw that a mass e-mail went out for Temple about interviews. Does that mean if you didn't get an e-mail you aren't invited for interview days? I tried sending the program and e-mail about it but have not received a response.

each email had the applicant's name on it so maybe it is just taking them a little while to get through the whole list? give it a day or two before you cross them off. also there is always the possibility of being wait listed.
