2009-2010 Grad School Interview Invite Thread!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
How literally did you mean right now? 🙂 I had this image of the graduate coordinator secretly emailing saying THEY ARE ABOUT TO DECIDE!!!! Like before an awards show...

Haha! To answer a few posts, the graduate coordinator said "faculty are in the process of making decisions." I did ask when they would be sending out invites but that was her response in addition to the interview date being February 20th. Sorry that I don't have more info!

how do you know who is interviewing you? did they send you a second email? i RSVP'd to the email invite last week but haven't heard anything from them since then.
In the original email, mine lists the schedule for the interview day. One of your time slots should say "Interview with Dr. Blankety blank." for around 30 minutes. If yours doesn't, I'd call the DCT ASAP.

I would really appreciate if the person who got the UWO invite could let us know whether this invite came from a POI or DCT. Thanks!

Note: The person who got the invite PM'ed me this info after seeing your post. It is now included in the main list (POI). 🙂

hmm you all are lucky that know who they are interviewing with, most of my interviews let you request them but they dont tell you who exactly you are interviewing with, at least until the day of when they hand you a schedule.

Has ANYONE besides that first person on 1/4 heard anything from U Mass Boston? It says on their website that if you get an invite you should be notified before Feb 17th. I would assume that means they send out invites on a rolling basis. Just want to know if that's true or not. So if any of you have interviews there, please let me know (post/pm). No POI info necessary, just curious to know if they've given out any more invites since then

PS - I accidentaly posted this first in last year's thread...doh 🙄

I don't understand this. Why would anyone do that? 😕

I'm pretty sure everyone who applied to SDSU/UCSD got an email on 1/6 saying:

Thank you for applying to our program. Your application material has been received and is complete. The Selection Committee will meet this week for review. If you have been chosen for an interview, the Selection Committee will notify you via phone call. Interviews will be held the last Monday and Tuesday of February.

Maybe the person mistook this to mean they were invited? Who knows.

In a similar vein, I received an e-mail from UMass Boston on January 4th requesting that I list a total of three POIs on my application (not in their original directions), and a friend received the same e-mail a few days earlier. It seems unlikely that they were offering invites on the same date, but perhaps someone got confused! Hey, I'll admit I was excited (and then disappointed) when I received that e-mail from them so early!

Yeah, last year I actually received an invite by phone call from my POI who said the invites were JUST starting to go out and the date was something completely different than what was posted on the invite thread more than 2 weeks before....it is probably a misunderstanding though, I can't imagine someone doing that just to freak other people out...

thank you for clearing that up, i did have that in my email. another school had a very similar email saying something like "this is a sample interview day schedule, you will be emailed your personal schedule later" so i just assumed that yeshiva's was also just a sample. i guess that's why people say to never assume...

but thanks! i'll see you tomorrow, although i may never know it. 🙂

Please let me know!

My e-mail stated that I would have my interview with my POI.

Stephsays: Are you talking about the clinical PsyD at Yeshiva or the PhD? We are talking about the PhD in health psychology. Perhaps that is why it doesn't say a person's name.

Good luck with your interview steff. I do thought have a feeling you'll be able to pick out the guy from Los Angeles in a New York minute 🙂

Hello, lucky Pittsburgh interviewee(s)... would you mind PMing me? I am curious what your focus is & who your POI is.

I noticed on their website that they've had faculty changes in the department, so maybe that has caused some delay? I can hope, right...?

Hey everyone. I have good news for people who applied to DePaul's Clinical-Community track. I just called the office and was told that invites, rejections and waitlists have not been sent out for the community track, only for the child track. She said that email correspondence regarding any of those three results should be sent out by the end of the week. Just proof not to give up until you receive an official rejection. Good luck everyone! 🙂

Futureappsy2, Do you know who historically notifies very late in the game (invites after mid-February)?

I have friends who are in clinical programs at Seattle Pacific University and U Montana. Both said they did not receive any emails or phone calls until early to mid February. In fact, my friend wasn't invited for a phone interview until February 18th. I think Idaho State is the same but those are all the clinical programs I know about.

I know that one person heard from UNLV, but has anyone else? I just noticed on their website there is something that says, "we do not do individual interviews outside of official admissions process." Did anyone else notice that? What does that mean exactly?😕

That means that if, for example, someone is in the area and wants to meet a professor they're interested in working with, they can't because it's not an official interview. In other words, they don't interview people unless it's part of the official interview process. Make sense?

OMG I love you for making that phone call.

I just got an interview invite from U of Iowa via email from POI

Interviews are 2/20-2/22

I am in application purgatory... like Depaul? No invite, no rejection and no waitlist. It would be nice to have some feedback already!

Ugh I'm still waiting on my top 3 choices, USF, Ryerson, and York.....what a horrible process.....any insider info on when University of South Florida might make offers?

Congrats to those with interviews

Anyone out there apply to UW-Madison School Psych or know of anyone, aunt, uncle, cousin, who did? Or know if they even interview? The only info on here about them is from 2008, and it says they were accepted in late January by e-mail...

End of next week USF will make decisions and start emailing then or likely within a few days after that

Phew, I'm so relieved to hear someone else is still waiting on Ryerson and York!

I got a UNLV interview request as well - original request on the 18th, more information about the interview process (housing, etc.) this morning. Sorry. This doesn't mean it's completely over for them, of course, but maybe you should email your POI?
Good luck!

DITTO! I don't know how much longer I can take it! My email checking behavior is starting to interfere with my job!

Has anyone here applied to the Rutgers or Baylor PsyD programs? They're not on the list yet and nobody has posted a word about them (I've been through the entire thread), so I'm beginning to wonder if I'm the only one on here that applied to those schools! 🙂 If I'm not, has anyone gotten information on interview dates or when they'll be sending invites? Thanks for any info! 🙂

USF: A friend who goes to school there told me that invites would be going on late on Friday Feb 5th.

Wisconsin-Madison: I spoke with a woman in the department (maybe just a secretary) who said that there was no official "interview weekend" like at other schools, and that as far as she knew no decisions had been made about anything yet (they sounded really disorganized). This conversation happened last week Thursday.

Hope that helps!

Seriously! I'm in the same boat. I developing some serious OCD with my gmail account. Hopefully if I get into school, I can learn how to treat it Ha!

Only 2 of my schools have been mentioned...my compulsive checking I think may have hit a clinical threshold. Is anyone else waiting on University of Nevada Reno, Utah State University, or SUNY Albany???

I applied to Rutgers, but still have not heard back yet....I wish they would let us know either way.

SUNY Albany I think tends to interview later, their interviews are in March. So, I wouldn't lose hope yet.

I'm trying not to lose hope...but I want to lay on the floor throw a temper tantrum and have someone reinforce the ridiculous behavior and tell me!

Did you receive this info from your POI or just a general email? Thanks!

Soo I am in the habit of religiously checking this site and I finally decided I had to join because I'm going crazy over this process as I've applied to 11 schools, half are on the list only 2 aren't from a specific POI.

Finally to my questions...

Does someone know how the Univ. of Maine notified people they were invited to interview?
&
Would anyone be willing to tell me the POIs that contacted them from the University of Miami, SUNY Binghamton, and Oregon?

Thank you in advance! Also thanks to the creator this thread is always updated and it's very helpful 🙂

I just received an invite from Nevada Reno in an email from my POI😀

I applied to Rutgers, but still have not heard back yet....I wish they would let us know either way.
Yeah, I agree. I've tried calling the Rutgers PsyD Dept Administrator and her voicemail is almost rude saying that applicants' calls will likely not be returned during this busy time. Well if they'd let us know when we can expect to hear something, I'm sure they won't have so many people calling! Argh.

Ok, clearly I'm starting to get impatient!! I just called Northwestern Feinberg and spoke with an admission assistant. She stated that interviews would go out on MONDAY via PHONE CALL. She said that rejections would be notified through the electronic application within the next week. She basically said that if you don't get a call you will know that you weren't invited, so there's no point checking the online app every day. They hold interviews on Feb 26 and March 5.

Monday will be a tough day!! Good luck to all fellow Northwestern Applicants!

I feel so left out...

I still haven't heard a damn thing from any of my 13 schools!

:boom:

And why am I still considered a "New Member"? I've been checking this thing a million times a day. When do I get promoted to "Junior Member"? Hahaha! Sorry guys, a little delirious myself with this whole process...

[update] Well, there it is! Woohoooo!

so, there are some schools that have sent out both invites for interviews and rejections. for these schools i haven't received either (aside form 2 interviews). what do we think about this? what does this mean? have they lost my email address and don't know how to reject me?

If anyone's waiting to hear from SUNY Binghamton's Clinical Psych PhD, I e-mailed my POI today and (within an hour) got a response saying that invitations for the "first round" have gone out, but that is not necessarily the last round of invitations. So, we'll see I guess.
