Anyone still waiting to here for an interview invite from Meharry. I canceled my interview for Dec. 4th today because I got in another school, so they may invite someone else. Good luck to all!

new to the network, but i am also waitlisted for meharry

I might need to walk down to meharry or sth. Plane tix are like 455. I dont have that. Sadly, i only weigh 110, so walking is not it.
omg. I have just 2 days left.

For you and others waitlisted, you guys should still feel good. A friend interviewed last yr april, waitlisted and she still GOT IN. Stats are not superb or anything....22 and 23mcat. So what i think now is class is getting full so they are been careful. But many ppl will have multiple acceptances so you guys shd just keep ur heads up and make it to ur other interviews.....

always buy your tickets early, preferably 2+ weeks out. you'll usually end up paying half the price if you do that

Hey
I was complete 10/9 and still haven't heard anything. The complete email said give them up to eight weeks. So if I don't hear anything by next friday I'm def giving them a call. That's if my patience can last that long:scared:

did u ever call and check your app status??? I was complete a while ago and havent heard anything either and ppl are getting invites who were complete after me...so I wanted to know if you had heard anything

yea clearly they aren't giving out news in any particular order. i decided to wait the full eight weeks before i call. however when that clock hits 8weeks, 0days, 0hours, 0mins, 1sec...their phone will be ringing.😀

Was accepted two weeks ago, but just declined the offer to attend MMC. It is a great school, but I chose to opt for a school closer to home. So im sure there will be some movement on the waitlist. Good Luck to all!!!

When was your interview if you don't mind. You are the first person I have come across who has received an acceptance.

just in case everyone forgot, or they forgot to say...

when in committee you have to receive a unanimous vote of "yes" to gain acceptance, otherwise you will be waitlisted. next semester (i still go by semesters if yall don't mind), you only need a majority for acceptance.

WOW..interesting...did they say how many or on the committee? I wonder if that's how it works at other schools

no, they didn't specify...not that i can recall anyway. and they told us to wait 22 days before we call.

interviewed 11/20 by the way

I had no idea, where/who did you get that from?

mr. graves told us this during the introduction before the actual interviews...does anyone else remember this? or something like that?

does anyone know when the committee meets? or when to expect some new invites??

My interview was November 2nd. This school is pretty quick with their responses. I found out that I was accepted in less than 3 weeks.

I hear that 9/10 people who interview are wait listed...is this true because it seems to be based on the number of people that have been accepted and wait listed who have posted their results.

9/10 isn't very good odds 🙁 Does anyone know how many interview dates they give a month?

I interviewed on November 20th and we were told to get in contact with Mr. Mosley if we hadn't heard anything in three weeks. So I called him today and he told me to e-mail him and he would get back to me with a decision on Monday...yikes!

OOOO good luck! :luck::luck::luck:

How was your interview? Any tough questions? My question is that everyone has said the interview is really easy-going and stress-free, however everyone has been posting wait list status up. Sigh I guess I just don't want to think I had a great interview and actually didn't...

Did any of you wait semi-late to submit your applications? I submitted my AMCAS on 10/14, was verified 10/28, and submitted my secondary to Meharry on 12/5...I am just wondering what sort of time line to expect since I waited to submit everything. (Plus, the holidays are in the middle of everything...I have no idea when I ought to start worrying!)

So far I'll give you what I've gathered in terms of timing. It depends on when you become complete. Some schools completed me w/in 2-3 days of submitting their secondary, other schools like Penn State has taken up to 2 months to complete me.

Either way from the day you are complete, it usually takes 1 month - 3 months for them to get to you in terms of interviews.

I was verified 9/2 and was complete at most schools late Sept - mid Oct. Out of 20 schools I applied to I have heard back from 10 and still have 10 to go and it's been 1-2 months since I've been complete. So I guess it can take awhile especially later in the season. So just hang in there and you'll be okay. But I don't think you should plan on getting an interview before Feb.

I interviewed on the 20th as well. You think we'll hear something today? :xf:

so its official it has been 8 weeks...can I call now and check the status of my app....??

EDIT: well i did and they were basically of no help whatsoever... the guy just said wait and see we will be communicating with you...i did find out the committee meets every wednesday tho

EDIT: Interview invite 5 seconds ago! Guess my call paid off!!!!

Do you guys know how many spots are filled? How many they take a class?

On their website it is confusing because at one place it says a class of 80 and another it says a class of 90...soo 80-90?

No one knows how many spots are filled but I don't think that many.

at the interview they said the class is of 95.... but 15 come from their post bacc program. theres only 80 spots total for people interviewing this cycle. not sure how many people have been accepted as of yet

Do you guys know how many they interview? and the percentage they take from the interviewees? thanks

I just got an interview here for Feb. 8. I'm OOS form texas. 3.2 cGPA, 3.3 sGPA 33p MCAT, B.S. Biochemistry. I had a mistake on my AMCAS that said I wasn't graduatin until Dec. 2010 when it should have been Dec. 2009 making me ineleligible. Fortunately, I corrected this about 2 weeks ago. Just thought this might point to the class not being full.

Also I had some questions. I am a white(ginger) middle class guy and I understand that Meharry is mostly Black and URM. I plan on going into rural medicine, which is probably why I got the interview. The topic of race is sure to come up in the interviews. Does anyone have any suggestions or know any possible questions they might ask and the best way to answer them appropriately? I don't want to come off as the liberal douchebag type who numbers off all his black friends and acts like a know it all about race issues, but I don't want to sound like the ignorant republican type who denies any racial differences in society.

I just got an interview for February 1st. Was wondering if those of you who got interviews/accepted could say what ur stats are? If they reject you do they put you in their post bacc program? Do they interview for post bac or is it for the class but if you dont make it in they matriculate you in the post bac? Love to hear back. I'm excited for this school.

I'm interviewing Feb 8th. At Fant 2....as long as you realize what the mission of Meharry is and how it fits in with your goals and are geniune I wouldn't worry too much. They offered you an interview which means there is something about you that they like and they would like the chance to get to know you more. Good Luck everyone!

For those of you interviewing in Feb., do you mind telling when your file was complete? Thanks!

I have been thinking about this same question. I am Chinese/Female who is really interested in undeserved urban/inner city medicine. For me this is a beautiful opportunity to go to a school consisting mostly of African American students. I think you should be honest. If rural is what you want tell them that the school's mission and curr gives you an opportunity to succeed. You will gain valuable experiences as this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Not everybody has the opportunity to be immersed in a culturally rich crowd that is not similar to your own. Doctors should have a wide range of knowledge and experiences. Any new experiences allows for learning which is very valuable as patients are from all different types of background, race, ethnicities...

PM me if you wish to discuss further!

I just got the acceptance e-mail like five minutes ago!! Thank God!

Congrats to everyone who has got in! I interviewed on 11/23 and still haven't heard anything back. Can someone pm me Mr. Mosley's e-mail address? I'm really nervous. I really want to get in!

anyone from the 12/4 group hear back yet?? do we get a letter or phone call?

I received my complete e-mail today! Hopefully an interview invitation will follow in the next few weeks. 🙂

I'm getting nervous for my 1/11 interview. Can you guys post your interview feedback!!! It's would be great 🙂

My interview was really really laid back. My first interviewer honestly just wanted to get to know me. My second interviewer sort of grilled me on health care so I would definitely brush up on the topic but both were very nice. Just be yourself. And look at the interview feedback threads for specific questions.

good luck with your interview! mine was very laid back as well. two separate 1:1 interviews. one of the is with an MD or PhD member of the admissions committee...the other is with an MD or PhD.
They asked me all the basic questions...nothing too difficult. the interview feedback section would be able to help you! My interviews were pretty conversational. They have a piece of paper in front of them that they will be taking notes on about each question that they asked you.

Thanks guys,

I have already read the interview feedback section but there aren't too many posted for this cycle.

I hope I don't get any Health Care Reform or Ethical questions...

Do they inform all students via snail mail?? even waitlisted? rejected?
