Could be just a matter of formality. When I interviewed at UF last year, they told us that they were switching to e-mails that year because apparently, applicants prefer expediency over formality. We were all like "no shiz".

Downstate should follow suit.😀

Hey Elmo, what'd they ask? be as specific as possible. I'm looking forward to an invite soon, hopefully.
Also, what was the format of the intrvw?

can someone who interviewed here please tell me which days of the week downstate interviews applicants? thanks

Since they only provide two spaces should I just attach an additional sheet which includes labs (which are seperate at my college) ? Do you think its better to just do all of them on the attached sheet or should I fill out what I can in the box provided and attached the courses that don't fit?

Also, one of my chemistry labs was a combined summer semester of chem 1 & 2, is that the kind of course that requires a course catalog explanation ?

Thanks!

Probably doesn't matter. I filled in the boxes and attached a sheet as well. I doubt anyone cares.

If I have been living in NYC for over 5 years but I'm from Boston originally, should I answer this one?

I wouldn't write a full-on answer, but I would just make a brief mention that you've been there for five years if you haven't listed your NYC address elsewhere on the application.

I wouldn't mention the bit about Boston, though. This is New York, after all... 😉

Especially now that Yankees are in the playoffs.:meanie:

Invites at Stonybrook and upstate so far

Only Buffalo and Downstate to go!

Really wanna go interview at Downstate. Any interview in NYC for me is golden.

I want one at Upstate, but no luck so far.

i want any SUNY! especially downstate and stony brook, but the others would be great too...it would be so nice to at least have a cheap in-state option to consider. oh well, i guess the SUNY's want me to be really broke and go to a private or OOS med school😛

I'm sure they'll show you some love pretty soon.:luck:

Hehe... I'm hoping for a 2004 rematch. I'll be in DC when the ALCS starts, I'm going to see if any of my fellow GWU interviewees feel like hitting up a sports bar to watch the fireworks.😀

Has anyone OOS heard anything back yet? I've got applications out to four NYC schools and still nothing...

I feel like they've slowed down giving invites right now.

i'm OOS and have heard from 4/6 NYC schools.

I'm guessing there's a reason your location says NY,NY 😛

Would you mind sharing your stats? I'm looking at a 3.55 sGPA, 33 MCAT...

indeed-- i applied as a MA resident bc you can't apply to UMass OOS. MA's residency requirements are uber strict, so i had to keep my license and voters registration there even though i was in NYC for college and am still here for a second year after graduating. new york's residency requirements are much more lax, and i found out when i interviewed at downstate that i can get IS tuition there as well! yay!

and i have a really good but not great MCAT and very high GPA.

what do u guys think about my chances with these stats:

3.53 CGPA
3.58 SGPA
32 O MCAT

Oh and I'm IS

i'm not going to read through 11 pages of overachieving posts, so this may have been pointed out already. try to forgive me.

glaring, flagrant typo: question 1. longer then 3 months? come on.

I don't think that's a typo. It really means longer than 3 months.

to clarify: i pointed out a typo. elmo claims this is not a typo, but that one word was typed and a different one meant. so i cleared up exactly what constitutes a typo, namely a keystroke/spelling error.

Good job. You deserve an award.

The interview's not so bad. It's not a stress interview. But, know your application completely--my interviewer didn't even have it in front of him (his desk was empty). Yet he had memorized my GPA, MCAT, major, and some ECs, too!

I loved the school, btw. I'm OOS, and if I'm accepted here and at my state school, I may just shell out the extra $$ for the first year.

oh wow I've heard of those closed file interviews being not so fun, I'm hoping this goes smoothly. This is my first interview and happens to be my #1 school, therefore my nerves are shot!!
